We loved staying at the Farmer’s Guest House! Great location to Main Street, wonderful breakfast each day, and such great hospitality from Luke, Elaine, and Mark! Our room was very spacious, clean, and nice! We stayed in Julia! Would definitely stay here again!

It's all in the details! First, FGH's location alone is wonderful. In a town where parking is at a premium, the property has designated parking and is a short (and scenic) 8-min walk to main street. Next, the hospitality is bar none. We were treated like old friends the moment we arrived and every interaction with the proprietors was a joy. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable all around. But it truly was the details that made FGH our new go-to accommodations when in Galena. "Wine Time" has 1 large bottle or 4 small bottled delivered to your room with two types of cheese, crackers and a sweet from one of the local shops (homemade chocolate chip cookies anyone?). The small fridge was stocked with bottled water and the coffee bar had a Keurig with a large assortment of coffees and teas. The bathroom was appointed with luxury bath products and there was a charging station beside the bed. All items could be restocked daily by placing a hang tag outside our door. There is a lovely back garden with multiple seating areas where you can enjoy your wine. Breakfast was thoughtfully planned each morning using what was clearly unique recipes made on site. French toast casserole, thick cut bacon, homemade granola with fruit and yogurt and parmesan egg bake just names a few of the stand out breakfast items. I loved the freshly squeezed juice brought to the table in mason jars to be poured into signature juice glasses. FGH sets an impossibly high bar, even by bed and breakfast standards and we will most definitely be back!

This is the best B&B we have ever stayed at! We stay at Farmers Guest House several times a year. The reasons we keep coming back are the location, the beautiful rooms, and the inn keepers of course! It really feels like our home away from home! From the moment we arrive to the time that we leave, they take care of our every need! Our goal is to stay in all of there rooms. We only have a few left to try.

Make, Luke, and Elaine really have the new COVID procedures down. We have stayed twice since the new procedures started and I can't say enough about how well they are doing! I do admit, we really miss the socialization of how "wine time" used to be, but at least they have found a way to still offer this great amenity delivered right to your door. Their amazing breakfast is also now delivered to your room. We feel comfortable with how sanitized they are keeping the property and always feel safe when staying there.

We love that it is just a short walk to Main St where there are so many great little shops and restaurants to explore. It's always hard to decide where to eat because there are so many places that have become a favorite of ours. We especially like Fried Green Tomatoes, Embe's and Durty Gurts. Plus, the new outdoor dining due to COVID is so nice! It's like a mini summer festival taking place right now. We just love it!

We highly recommend this property when traveling to Galena. You will not be disappointed. After you stay at Farmers once, you will keep coming back!

We had started out our trip driving in a blizzard and notified the FGH of our possible late arrival. Elaine was very gracious and stated to keep in touch if it did indeed get close to 6 before we could arrive. When we got there we were welcomed by each of the staff and given a tour of the common areas and even offered to carry our luggage upstairs. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts with so much variety and delightful touches of added details to the presentation and the extra effort to make certain that they were demonstrating their concern for your health regarding the ’rona. The snack trays were always on time and there were warm cookies each afternoon. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the living room and the games and television area. Elaine told us to make ourselves at home and I don’t know how anyone couldn’t because the furniture is so comfortable and it was a lovely evening spent inside out of the dreadful cold playing cribbage and chess. They even have a special edition Galena Monopoly board aside from a table devoted to the classic version of the game. The communication was excellent regarding times of when to expect breakfast and the freshly baked cookies. The innkeepers were very nice and checked in on us when they saw us. I would strongly encourage those who stay to use the common areas for eating breakfast and the living areas. They have much to offer and are eager to help assist you if needed. We were not sure what to expect when we booked our trip since we knew the ownership had changed since our last time nearly 11 years ago but after our experience we were grateful that we did!

One of our favorite getaways amidst COVID was to Annie’s Galena Cottage last weekend. Not only is the hotel gorgeous, but being family owned with such personalized service with all protocols followed put us both at ease. The cottage was incredibly well maintained and cleaned — and each day we were greeted with an incredible breakfast and wine & cheese (and more) to wrap the day. The staff did not enter the quarters but offered clean towels and coffee refills in ziploc secure bags through a relay which was super easy to manage.

We skied at Chestnut Mountain which is only 16 min away, and found sanctuary here at night. Staff couldn’t have been kinder. Fireplace is a lovely touch. Food was always delivered hot and on time, mimosas with breakfast, so many personal touches. You can tell there is incredible pride in ownership here. I look forward to a future stay! Can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you for a wonderful home away from home (two working parents gravely needed respite!)

My daughter and I stayed at Farmers Guest House for a girls week-end. It was wonderful. The breakfasts were delicious, with mini quiches, coffee cake, fruit, coffee, stuffed French toast. Wine time was wonderful. Due to Covid it was in our room, so I look forward to returning with my husband where we can enjoy the wine and cheese with other guests. Also its close to Main street of Galena so we parked our car on Friday and did not have to use it again until it was time to leave Galena

I highly recommend Farmer’s Guest House. IT is a quaint little B&B with a lot of history, has charm, and is well-decorated and extremely clean. It is in a superb location, right next to Nut’s Outdoors Rental where you can rent bikes, ebikes kayaks, etc, (this is a cool place too- they have a package where you can rent ebikes and do a 12 mile country ride out to the Galena Cellars Winery, glass of wine included, and after 3 hours they come pick you up), and easy walking distance from all fo the shops and restaurants of downtown Galena. The beds, and pillows, were very comfortable!
The best part though, is the service. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and shown around by the owners, told all about the place and anything we would need, and someone even grabbed our bags and put them in the room for us. They have afternoon wine and cheese/crackers/homemade cookies, local coffee in the dining room and Keurig in each guest room, delicious full homemade breakfast INCLUDING mimosa’s if desired, and a whole host of other things that make this place one of the best B&B’s ever ever stayed. We will definitely be back.

We stayed for 3 nights over the Country Fair weekend in Grant Park. It was a wonderful stay at this beautiful B&B. The owners were very helpful and considerate. Our room was on the first floor with a whirlpool, fireplace, and both an inside and an outside entrance. Coffee, hot chocolate, bottled water and tea were available in the room and replaced every day as were the towels. Every day a cheese plate and wine was delivered to our room. Each morning we were greeted in the great room with a different breakfast made by our hostess and served by our host. The food was amazing! I would rate the food as some of the best breakfasts I have ever had on any trip that I have been on. We were both so impressed with the Farmers Guest House that we reserved the room for our next trip to Galena.

My husband and I stayed here the weekend after our wedding for 3 nights. We originally booked the cottage but were notified a week before that it was out of service for a while but that a comparable room was available and ours if we still wanted it. We had no problem switching rooms since all of the same amenities were included. Mark, Luke and Elaine even tossed in some chocolates and champagne for switching rooms which was entirely unexpected and so sweet :) Parking was perfect for the area and the walk to downtown was short and scenic. The breakfast was AMAZING everyday and I appreciated that they switched it up day to day. They made great pivots for Covid times and we felt safe and welcomed the entire stay. We hope we can come, back some day to experience Farmers Guesthouse again.

We stayed at Farmers Guest House for a couples weekend getaway. The inn keepers were so welcoming and friendly! They were genuinely happy to have us there. Both rooms were so charming and clean. The breakfast was AMAZING. We truly enjoyed sitting outside on the beautiful property each night with the nice wine and cheese provided. It was very thoughtful that there were masks and hand sanitizer in our room. Highly recommend this B & B. We will definitely return.
