Detailed Reviews
What a gem we found in the Victorian on Main! My dad and I stayed in the Felix room which has two double beds. This room is located on the second floor near the back of the house and has a jack-and-jill bathroom with the Creighton suite. During our stay the door was bolted shut so that we had complete privacy in this bathroom. Our entire stay was peaceful and wonderfully managed. Upon arriving they offered to carry up our luggage to help us get settled. Each morning we awoke to a home cooked meal and they even managed to make adjustments to accommodate my keto diet. I enjoyed my mornings out on the front porch drinking coffee and catching up on news. I also cannot stress enough how clean and safe the bed and breakfast was. I was never in doubt of the cleanliness and upkeep they have provided to keep me safe. I would highly recommend visiting. Lastly I would just like to say that each staff member was gracious and kind. I cannot thank them enough for welcoming us to stay with them.

Pleasant host and good food. Nice accommodations in a small community. Host was helpful in finding and recommending dinner places as well. The premises were well kept and clean. Will definitely stay here again.

The house is beautifully redone. The owners are very nice and accommodating of any special needs you might have. Our room was on the third floor, small and nicely redone. We had a private bathroom with very nice shower. Also television in the room with cable. Breakfast was fabulous, fruit, waffles with homemade syrup and eggs with bacon and bleu cheese. Very tasty. Of course coffee and juice. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Third floor rooms are smaller with sloped roof line. But very comfortable.

Wonderful place. Staff went above and beyond. When I mentioned I was allergic to gluten, one of the staff went and bought me gluten free bread that night. The hotel itself is out of the movies... quaint and well maintained. Perfect...

We stayed in the Garden Suite & loved the space. The suite was very clean & full of natural light. The king sized bed was so comfortable & our favorite thing was the private balcony overlooking the gardens. Kathy is a very gracious, welcoming hostess. We will definitely return!

Our entire two night, two day stay was extraordinary. Kathy, the Innkeeper, was such a joy to get to know. She served up breakfast each morning with such attention to detail. And her cooking was worth the overnight stay just for the breakfast!
Husbands, if you want to impress your wife, book a weekend at The Victorian! The place is filled with antiques, art and living spaces worth exploring.
We came to Fairfield on an exploratory genealogy assignment. Lodging at The Victorian on Main took us back to a much simpler time. A time we envisioned how our ancestors may have lived. The truth is, The Victorian on Main, built in 1895, was a mansion compared to the homes of our early agrarian ancestors who lived in Ellery, Illinois just 20 miles away.
We felt like honored guest in the home of a close family member.

The breakfast alone is worth the stay with unique one of a kind homemade dishes. I was there for my 45th high school reunion with conversations with other guest priceless. You could spend hours checking out all the antiques in the late 1800s house . My favorite place to stay bar none.

We are so glad we decided to break up our drive and stop for the night. The Victorian on Main was the perfect escape. Kathleen was the perfect host, going above and beyond to make sure all our needs were met. The home was full of history which she willingly shared. our room was inviting and very clean. And, we can't say enough about the delicious breakfast!! We are sharing this treasure with family and friends and we hope to visit again soon.

When curator/proprietor Kathleen & her husband Gary & their family decided to turn their antiques shop into a B&B, she culled the finest items from their inventory for display. Consequently the many collections throughout the inn are incredible, and in a setting that is impeccable.
We stayed in the Tower Room. Lovely, well-appointed & comfortable, it had the most beautiful light coming through the multiple windows.
And the food: It’s hard to act adult when truffled potatoes are set down in front of you — for breakfast.
But the best part of our stay was time spent with Kathleen. So engaging, so knowledgeable, so kind.
We’ll be back.

I was thrilled to find this B&B on my way back home! The Squirrel’s Nest is without a doubt the best room in the house. It is comfortable and comforting. The Christmas tree was absolutely beautiful! The breakfast was perfect and care was taken to ensure my vegetarian needs were met. I had everything I could possibly need and the innkeepers were beyond wonderful. My only regret is that I couldn’t stay longer.
