This was a wonderful establishment that has an intersting history to it. The rooms are comfortable and the bathroom was modern with complementary q-tips and cotton balls. It even had bathrobes! But that was just the start. The breakfast consisted of wonderful pastries made by their French chef daily (and personally I ate way more than I should have). The... More

We booked the Margarita Inn for 3 nights, but ended up staying for only two. The management was very nice about us leaving early. There's a lovely rooftop lounge area, a great old elevator, and fabulous continental breakfast with wonderful home made pastries, greek yogurt, hard boiled eggs and steel cut oatmeal. The tea selection could have been higher-end, but... More

I don't normally take the time to review my stays but this one was worth the time. Super comfy beds and linens, nice baths, and furnished very nicely. The building has a lot of history and they have preserved it nicely. The lounge, library, patio, and rooftop lounge were very nice and inviting. The breakfast was excellent and all service... More

What a charming place! There are 5 of us traveling together...Parents and a 12 yr old, 13 yr old, and 16 yr old. We all loved it. My kids had never stayed in an older place with history attached to it. The building is a former boarding house for women. I believe it was built in the 1920's or 30's.... More

I get to travel the US only twice per year and without an exception end-up in one of the mid-range hotel-chains. All good & great but never inspiring and never out of the ordinary. US chains do a great job in guaranteeing standardized quality but together with 'bad surprises' it also takes out the 'good surprises'. So I was thrilled... More

Stayed here this June on our way up to the U.P. We were looking for a nice place outside of Chicago Evanston fit the bill beautifully. This hotel is located just outside of a historic district on the lake shore and only half a block from a nice neighborhood shopping and eating area. It is a great place to get... More

My wife and I stayed here as a convenient waypoint on our way to UP, Michigan. Frankly, I could have just stayed here for a week and skipped the UP. The hotel feels like 19th Century (actually from the very early 1900's, but humor me) but is in superb condition. The whole place is spotlessly clean, beautifully reconditioned and very... More

This hotel is located very close (walking) to downtown in a quiet neighborhood. You are close to bus stations and Purple line (2 blocks), and there are lots of options for eating around. If you like to walk, there is a small park one block west of the hotel. If you have a car and need to park, they have... More

Very old place but has a certain charm. Crazy expensive when we were there for university homecoming weekend and that is understandable. Fantastic breakfast buffet. Access of lobby for check-in and parking out back in the alley is a real bummer. Deal breaker for me next time. Friendly but small staff - mainly front desk and cranky old elevator with... More

I was there on a business trip with work in the downtown Chicago area and wanted to get away from the busy downtown. This was what I was looking for, a boutique hotel. The room was nicely appointed, clean, and quiet. The reception room for meeting people and breakfast, was again, perfect for what I was looking for. The room... More
