This hotel is amazing... located at walking distance to anything in downtown Evanston, including Metra trains and the L, restaurants, shopping. Breakfast is a feast of house made pastries (by Phillipe, a French pastry chef, no less) served at an elegantly decorated parlor, buffet style. The building is a gem of early 20th century Chicago architecture - we know, we... More

superb staff. very responsive and helpful. Room with King and sitting area was exactly what we needed for a 1 night "stay-cation". Car park location felt relatively guarded and the location of the hotel was exactly what we wanted for walking to any number of restaurants, bars, quick order and even a bakery. Price was right and the time was... More

We didn't know what to expect. We found the lobby is up a flight of stairs. But the building is charming. The Otis elevator has a metal gate that you open & close to enter/exit. The 5th floor open air patio was an unexpected treasure. We carried in Lou Malnati's classic deep dish pizza and ate al fresco in the... More

My recent status as handicapped made staying at an older hotel a bit of a challenge, but as I always prefer a boutique hotel to a chain, I chose the Margarita while the rest of the family--in for a wedding-- stayed elsewhere. Because of steps at the entrance, I called ahead and was given their back door code, and used... More

This is a small older hotel on a side street in Evanston. It is conveniently located to downtown, and remarkably, very easy street parking (there is evidently hotel parking as well, but street parking was always easy to find right in front of the hotel). The hotel itself is probably approaching 100 years old and has loads of charm but... More

Went here for a romantic getaway. It's absolutely lovely, old world charm, delicious breakfast, kind and helpful staff. The L is with in walking distance and its about a 30 to 40 minute ride to down town. The staff helped us learn the ropes of the train. The breakfast is made by am real French Chef. The beds are super... More

I stayed here 2 nights and highly recommend it. I was able to check in early (flew to Midway, took an Uber to Margarita European Inn) which was unexpected. Kathryn, the GM, was on duty to assist at check-in and a few other times when we needed suggestions and/or assistance to find places. She's fabulous! Breakfast is enough to make... More

Always a pleasure to stay at the Margarita European Inn when in Evanston visiting our daughter who is a student at Northwestern. What brings us back is the outstanding personal service that Kathryn and her team provide. We love the charm of the Inn, the breakfasts and the roof deck. We sometimes buy a bottle of wine around the corner... More

I recently stayed 2 nights at the Margarita European Inn. It is a 2 minute walk from either the Davis "L" line or Davis Metea station and is convenient to all of downtown Evanston. It has a lovely parlor,I which a very substantial continental breakfast is served, a wood paneled library, a roof top deck and an outdoor patio. I... More

I have stayed here twice now and both times have been great stays. The parking can be a bit of an issue your first time around but the hotel, front desk staff and the rooms have been great. Keep in mind this is an old building and it is really neat how it's been modernized while still keeping to the... More
