Have a good time with great expired people. Don't be shy too ask for extras. People are very friendly. You will recommend this place for a visit and you will come again as soon as possible. A reservation is strongly recommended.

I stayed four weeks, August 2017, It is now February 2018 and I can honestly say that I am still feeling the positive effects! Being new to the world of Ayurveda, I was introduced to Hiru Villa, Sri Lanka by a European friend. Being able to experience Ayurveda at it's true source and immerse myself four weeks was the best thing I've ever done for myself... mind, body and soul! My room was beautiful as were the grounds. The meals were delicious! Prepared with love using flavorful, fresh ingredients and lots of variety. I was impressed with the doctors, their knowledge, level of attention and care. Also by the level of care and compassion shown by the skilled therapists. There were fun nights of entertainment and a cooking class. Management, doctors, room staff are available to you at all times. I hope more Americans will discover Ayurvedic medicine and want to stay at Hiru Villa. Yes, it's far from the U.S....around 20 hours total, But It was worth every minute! To your good health! Karen

I had quite some concerns if Ayurveda was the right thing for me. I am a very active person with high pressure in my job and my free time I love to spend on mountainbike or other demanding activities like sportssailing. Thus, looking into 2 weeks of Ayurveda activities was making me really nervous. After just half a day at site, my anxiety began to descend into a state of relaxation which I have never experienced before. On second day I was totally in a state of wellbeing, mental as well as physiological. The Hiru Villa it self, is a small place with the most wonderful garden one can imagine. The view from a garden sunchair makes you think on Heaven on Earth. The staff is friendly and helpful to an extend that you really believe they are there for a passion. The owner of the place were having his attention to the needs of the individuals. The food were simple but tasteful and delicate - and it was accomodated to each clients taste and personal desire or need. The full massage/treatments were introduced in a charming and heartful way. The impression of new balance which I obtained after completing the 2 weeks treatment, have still today more than 2 months after returning to hectic everyday life, maintained the majority impact. I am truly convinced about this place - and I leave the Hiru Villa with a desire to come back again next year, and the year after and...

Hiru Villa prides itself in providing first-rate ayurvedic treatments in a relaxed atmosphere. The owners pay attention to every detail, from the aesthetic of the entrance hall, to the quality of the food and treatments, to the immaculately clean rooms and common areas. Here are a few things I wish I had known before I traveled to Hiru Villa: 1) You do not need to take bathrobes or shorts for your daily treatment routine. Hiru provides cotton sarongs changed daily that you can wear from morning to the evening dinner. 2) Ayurvedic treatments are based on giving you multiple massages every day, which means that you will pretty much be soaked in massage oil. Take only dark underwear that will not show oil stains. I would also suggest you not take your favorite silk undies with you, as you will probably want to throw them out at the end of your stay. 3) You will be wearing a small cap (also provided by Hiru) for a considerable amount of time, as your hair will be drenched in oil from head massages or other treatments. If you want to look a little more spiffy, bring a bright scarf that you can wear over your cap for that extra attractive look. 4) Bring a few simple but nice outfits if you like being a bit dressed up for the evening meal. You will be wearing your sarong for both breakfast and lunch. Remember that your skin will be very oily from the massages, so don't bring your most expensive dinner outfits. 5) Bring flip flops to wear, as you will be going to treatments 4 times a day and they are easy to get in and out of. It's also advisable not to bring very expensive sandals, as visits to Buddhist temples are only allowed barefoot and you must leave your unguarded footwear outside. 6) Make sure you bring at least one blouse or dress with sleeves, as you need to have covered arms when entering a temple. 7) If you have room in your suitcase, bring some chocolate for the staff. They will love you for it! You should also know that Hiru Villa, although located directly at the ocean, it not a great place for walking along the beach. There is a steep staircase going down to the beach, but I didn't find it very clean and inviting. It is used by fishermen during the night and for most of the day to bring in their catch, so it's full of men ogling at you. If you want a place where you can walk along the beach for miles, you may want to check out the newly opened Hiru Beach, owned by the same team and providing identical treatments and service. Also, if the roar of the ocean is a sound that bothers you, don't book at Hiru Villa. The crashing of the waves against the rocks below creates a steady wall of sound that you will not be able to escape. Nor will you be able to escape the noise coming from the small fishing boats leaving the harbor below at all hours of the night and returning with their catch in early morning. Overall, I found Hiru Villa to be extremely well run, with first-rate service, great food and excellent treatments. It is small enough so that all of the guests get to know each other and enjoy sharing meals communally at two large tables. By the time I left I felt as though I was saying good-bye to a treasured family and old friends.

Perfect setting, on top of a cliff, beach 50 downwards, best Ayurveda resort. People are gently and caring, wonderful vegetarian food. Local fisherman wake you up when they are pulling their nets out of the water, singing local songs. Heaven on earth, no doubt about that. Enjoy your stay.
