The Maple Oak Treehouse is so cozy and perfect for couples. My husband and I spent our first wedding anniversary here and we loved it! We would definitely come back and stay in some of their other cabins as well. Being in the hills/forest was beautiful!
We had a wonderful vacation here. The cabin was exactly as advertised and filled with all the amenities we needed. It was the middle of a heat wave and inside the cabin you would never have known. Check in was simple and friendly and full of information. Check out was just as easy. There's a great time to be had hiking around the area, with trailheads minutes away by car. Breakfast on the front porch of the cabin every morning is incredibly peaceful.
Husband and I stayed here for 3 days, celebrating our 39th anniversary. Temps in the upper 90s made hiking early and less distance, but at least it wasn’t crowded! We stayed in Twin Oaks, a delightful restored log cabin with a wonderful tree deck in back and a homey front porch with rockers! We loved everything about it! Senior warning, the stairs-ladder to the sleeping loft requires concentrated maneuvering and the slant and height of the ceiling up there is to be considered! If you’ve never been to Garden of the Gods, you must go. Illinois northerners won’t believe the terrain! Beautiful!
If I could give 10 stars I would! Elizabeth has EXCELLENT customer service! As soon as you check in she gives you all the tips and tricks you need to see ill the best sights! The outpost offers anything you may need! The family and I only stayed 2 fays but I HIGHLY suggest 3 or more! 100% will be returning!
Our first (but not last!) visit to Shawnee National Forest. This was an absolute perfect place to stay - close to so many of the areas we wanted to see. The house was very nice and had everything we needed, including a nice porch to relax after all-day hikes. There were also 2 decks, as well a fire pit. We weren't able to use those, as it rained 3 nites in a row (as in huge storms), but if the weather allows it, I'm sure those are very enjoyable at nite - and plenty of outdoor chairs are provided, as well as firewood. The Outpost was right next door to our rental (The Chestnut), so that worked out well too. I mean - after all day hikes, we 'needed' ice cream to end the day. The employees at the Outpost were very nice and check-in was a breeze. Not far from the outpost is a gas station, and that came in very handy, as we needed gas quite often, and the next closest station was about 15-20 miles away. And, amazingly, the gas prices were less expensive here than the next closest city. Bonus! This is so close to Garden of the Gods, so we made 3 or 4 trips there, both hiking and also to try to get a sunset (accomplished one nite). No matter which accommodations you choose within Timber Ridge, I don't think you will be disappointed.…
We enjoyed staying at this adorable tiny cabin! It's perfect for 2 people--I wouldn't recommend 4. The bed was super comfortable. It could use a few more kitchen items. Beware that if you are over 6ft tall, it will feel a bit cramped!
We loved it here! My 6yo and I spent our Spring Break at the Maple Oak treehouse and he's already asking when we'll return. It was easily accessible to all the area hiking trails and sites. The cabins are well-spaced out and it is definitely family-friendly as most people we encountered were there with children. Wholesome fun at its finest exploring the small creek, playing horseshoes and tetherball at the pavilion, and petting the horses that approached the property. Elizabeth even called to check in on us when there was a bit of windy/rainy weather on our last night and assured us of our safety. I'm recommending to every nature-loving family I know!
Our stay at Timber Ridge was just a bit too short, but we loved our stay! The location is fantastic for nearby Shawnee explorations, the property is secluded, the cabins very private, clean, and very well built/maintained with all of the amenities we could have asked for (free firewood, games, WIFI, outdoor chairs, grill accessories, and more!). We LOVE that the property is dog friendly. The staff was extremely welcoming and communication about check-in was fabulous as we approached our arrival date. In the event we plan another trip to Shawnee, Timber Ridge will be our home away from home.
My 7 year old son and I stayed in the Hickory Hallow cabin for a couple nights of hiking at Garden of the Gods. We both loved it. It was perfect. Very cute, comfy beds, free wi-if and firewood, and very clean. We might even try one of the treehouses next time. Highly recommend!
After 30 years of tent camping, we decided to go the cabin route. We stayed in Cottonwood which was great. Clean and very comfortable. Not sure why we didn’t do this earlier! We will definitely be back. Awesome customer service as well. Highly recommended.
