We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Rimrock dogwood cabins. The cabins had all we needed for our family and dogs. My daughter especially liked the farm animals and I loved spending evenings around the fire pit. Plus the area hikes were beautiful and not crowded.
My wife and I and our pooch are currently here and have nothing but good to say! They have thought of everything you may need and provided it. The only thing you need to bring is food, charcoal (although there is a propane grill provided as well) and any personal items you may want. Cabins are clean, well stocked and in a beautiful setting. The check in and check out is about as easy as you can make it! I wont list all the things they have here in case you bring children but there are plenty of things to do nearby and they provide a book with listings that give names, locations, how far from campsite, as I said they thought of everything. Plenty of hiking and such close by.The cabin we are in is very "rustic"l and comfortable (and clean). We are in one of the smaller cabins (Cougar Bluff) and although a little tight with a big dog we love it. I had asked prior to arrival if the thermostat was accessable because my wife gets cold easy and when we showed up the heater was on and we came in to a toasty cabin! Thank you for all the thought you put into the visitors and their wants, great job!!!…
We stayed at the Deer Creek cabin at Rim Rock. The cabin was great! Very well stocked with everythin we needed, and close to the Garden of the Gods area of the Shawnee National Forest. Beautiful setting in the woods with no neighbors close by. Every amenity was thought out and provided!
We rented Deer Run, Cougar Bluff and Bears Den. There are trails all around. We hiked all over the place. Our Grand-children loved the animals. I think the favorite was the donkey's. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The Cabins are close to the Garden of the God's. Also Pounds Hollow Lake was just two miles away. We were going to hike there but decided to drive with all the kids. This was a Birthday trip for me from my kids. Our group had eight adults and ten children ranging in age from 17 to 1 years old. There was something for everyone to enjoy. The Owners were great and even took a family picture for us. We will be back. So peaceful and private. Loved everything about our stay. Thank you for having such a wonderful place for our family to go, feel safe and no one was bored.
We have stayed here twice now and would highly recommend staying at any one of these cabins. It really is a forgotten corner of Illinois and a great reminder for us Chicago folks how beautiful southern Illinois is, The cabins our group of friends stayed had everything you would ever need and were always spotlessly cleaned and well maintained. The property is lovely and very close to georgeous hikes and vistas. There is also a small but great lake nearby with a fairly large beach for swimming. The lake is a great spot for fishing or kayak/paddleboarding. For this corner of the world, nothing beats a holiday weekend at one of these rustic cabins!
