If you are in the Dubuque area, looking for an inexpensive, but nice place to stay, look no further! We were looking for a place to stay and this location kept popping up. However, the reviews were for the bar, not the rooms. They were so good though, we decided to give it a try. We are so glad we did. We walked in as tourist and were quickly made to feel like family. The owner was even at the bar with us carrying on casual conversation, making recommendations on places to see and eat. All were perfect recommendations. We would not have seen House on the Rock had it not been for this place. We were even invited to come to a Halloween costume party the next night! And for those looking for a room review, it was a basic, but clean room that served our purpose for the weekend. When back in the area, we will definitely stay here again.…
This place has a vibe of its own. You aren't a stranger here for long as it's a family owned bar and motel that is very friendly! Great, free food for Cubs games, football, Sunday fundays and lots more. Come alone or with friends, you'll be welcomed!
This motel is located right on Rte. 20 in East Dubuque, across the Mississippi River from Iowa. It is about ten minutes west of Galena, IL. From what I've seen, it was about a quarter of the rate of most places there, and about half price of most of the places on either side of the river. It is very accessible with a big sign and easy turnoff of the main road. The check in is a bar lounge frequented by locals and the owner is an elderly lady who lives in the unit next to the bar. The basic rooms are functional, clean, good sized, and come with cable television, refrigerator, and full bathroom. I've rated this for value...for someone looking for the lowest priced room for a night as a stopover like I had they can't go wrong. It can get a little loud right next to the highway with the bar on-site. Someone looking for more of a luxurious location would be better off in Galena.…
