The guest services people were very nice, the room was clean, the bed and blankets were very comfortable. It had an indoor pool w/ hot tub. Breakfast room and the food was good, a automatic pancake maker, which I loved! I would recommend it. A great place
Parking lot was very poorly lit; to the point where I was hesitant to park there overnight and slightly nervous walking into the hotel when we arrived at 1:30 am. . Comforter looked like it hadn’t been washed in a long time—hair, lint, etc. Very poor water pressure from the faucet in the bathroom sink. Breakfast was very average. Pancake machine was out of order. There wasn’t really a lot to But then there was Parth! This kind soul greeted me with a cold bottle of water, a friendly smile and a personality that was impossible not to love. What a great kid! And what an asset to your company.
Good location, very very helpful and kind staff. I was greeted by Parth on sweltering day where temps were almost 100 degrees, and he immediately handed me an ice cold bottle of water before even checking me in. Room is clean and smells nice (important as a lot of hotel rooms have that musty odor). Lots of close by restaurants in walking distance which was important to me as a business traveler. Breakfast has a lot of selections and again here the staff was super. The lobby is a bit older looking and a bit dark without natural light (this is clearly a hotel that is being/was revamped) but the staffs attention to guest services makes up for any decor shortfall.
Rates keep going up and services disappear. Reduction of Houskeeping staffs have saved hotel chains millions, yet the rates go up. This property has been "renovated" but the same worn and dirty furniture remains. Here's what I enjoyed during my recent 4 day stay: -Breakfast non-existent by 8am each day. There was one sausage one day and another guest jumped in front of me to grab it. No bacon ever, but if you like biscuits and gravy you could get that every day. -NO towel bars in the bathroom so you can hang up towels - and you have to give the front desk a written request by 10am to get towels, TP or whatever else the room needs -4 day stay with ZERO housekeeping - not even trash pickup. Good location but poor property. Avoid.
I work in Chicago all the time and stay in different locations, some areas are better than otheres. The people at the front desk Downers Grove location are very professional and courteous!! A pleasure to be around!!
I have stayed at this hotel a great deal of the years, maybe 6 times a year for the past several years…I like this hotel for its convenience…The hotel has been remodeling for awhile but there doesn’t seem to be any end in sigh, that’s OK…I usually make the reservation thru the IHG app…I always request the same thing and I call an hour before I arrive to make sure that the room is all set… This time when I called the man who answered was short with me & didn’t know if a room would be ready…As a result, I wasn’t to happy with this interaction…When I arrived a nice young lady made sure I was set up…Thanks to her!!!
Since a 3 is “average” I had to give this a 2. It’s outdated and even the updated room had poor finishes. Looks like they painted and then just put the old beds and fixtures back in the room over old carpet. The finishing on things like grout and stuff in the updated bathroom is shoddy and poor. Bathroom door didn’t shut all the way and light switches had paint or grout around them. I will say the hotel room was clean. And I slept fine. But I paid too much for a one night stay here. Front desk staff at check in was very nice. Breakfast foods looked like they had been sitting for quite some time and was unappetizing. I didn’t end up eating any of the breakfast. Not on par with other newer HI Express.
Nice people, good breakfast and hotel very clean. Good location, had a good time. No pool but close to restaurants. Good shopping close by. Looks like they are trying to update the place. Reasonable price. Everyone was very nice.
This hotel is in transition and has pros and cons, unfortunately the cons outweigh the pros at this point. Safety and Security: The original room the put us in 244, shared a balcony with the room next door. There was no way to secure the balcony door as it had no working lock. In addition to the lock not working there was an aftermarket security bar that was broken and not functional. Your neighbor could easily step over the common railing and walk right into your room. The building did have updated fire protection systems. Exterior doors had locking systems and appeared to function well. Parking lot ample parking with decent lighting. Pros: Rooms were mostly updated but lacked updates in some areas. The bed and bathroom along with the carpet and walls were updated and very nice. Morning breakfast had good options and well stocked. Good location to restaurants and stores in a nice neighborhood. Cons: The room furniture was dated, and the AC/Heat unit is very old and well past its service life (loud grinding sounds). VERY small area to hang clothes. The building is very tired, they are in the process of updating it. The grounds are dated and do not have a positive curb appeal. Multiple burnt out lights in the entryway overhang and hallways that were lacking in appearance and cleanliness. Summary: Overall it appears they are in the process of updating a very tired building, the facility is falls short of a typical Holiday Inn Express standard. We would not stay here again next time we are in the area unless its remodel is much further along. The lack of attention to things that are not big-ticket items at times were glaring. Multiple burnt out light bulbs, non-functioning locks, dirty grounds with dead plants and a torn tattered flag flying out front of the building.…
Our group had a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn Express. The beds and pillows were AMAZING and the breakfast was outstanding! Every staff member we encountered was friendly, courteous, and extremely helpful. Staff member Parth did a wonderful job maintaining a smile and handling our groups many requests. Would come back again!
