First of I made a reservation and was told that breakfast was included. I am an Elite Gold Member and have been for years. I called to change my reservation and asked again if breakfast was included. We arrived at the hotel and were hit with a parking permit and were told that they now have a five-dollar parking fee per day! What in the world! Really?! They have a huge lot why add a parking fee? This is not even a prime area like downtown where parking is limited. The front desk guy was less than accommodating or pleasant to work with. I asked about the breakfast he said, free breakfast is long gone. I am not sure who told you that but that’s not accurate. I told him, that two different people told me that. One worked at this location. He said well they gave you the wrong information Moving on to the rest of the hotel. The lobby is dirty and dated. Our room smelled like body order or dirty feet. The pillows on the little sofa smelled so bad. The elevators are filthy. This was such a nice clean location I don’t know what happened here. Bad management I guess.…
We returned to this property today but were confronted with an unnecessary surprise--a $5 parking charge! The hotel remains spotless and the staff efficient so why add a parking charge when they already have more than enough parking space than lodgers?
Let me preface this review by stating this was our go to place to stay 10 years ago. Hotel staff now are polite at best, not overly anxious to please. Marriott platinum members, they do not care. Not welcoming and definitely lacking in this area. Second ,, my husband is now handicapped due to several strokes. Handicap parking is extremely far from front door, there is a drop off,, however no seating inside entry way if someone is just using a walker. Now as for a wheelchair,, elevators are not always in working order. The handicap accessible room, is small. The closet is in the middle of the room sectioning off the bedroom from the living room. I expect this is intentional to be able to call the room a suite. Maneuvering the chair from one room to another is difficult for a care giver let alone for the patient!! The bed is too high up for easy transfer. I do have to however give the bathroom a positive comment. It is big enough and the roll in shower was great. However thumbs down though for the size and ease of use for the room. Also the heater would not shut off even though I turned it off, so the room was overly warm and had to have the windows open. I would not recommend this hotel unless you are young and prepared to use the stairs.…
Nice hotel. Have stayed here 3 times in the past year for business. Mat have to stay elsewhere next time because this hotel has had at least one elevator down every time I have stayed here. Now both elevators are down and guests are having to use service elevator. Why cant you keep your elevators operational. Being on the 6th floor and hoping to god the elevator works every morning is not my idea of good maintenance. Your supposed to be a flagship hotel. Act like one
If I could give the hotel a 0 I would. It was very outdated and during the time I was there the weather was beautiful and warm. Unfortunately the hotel had not prepared their chillers so the hotels AC was not functioning. My room was 73 and none of the windows opened. They sent maintenance to address the balcony door (which had been bolted shut) so it could open 2 inches - still nowhere near enough for a breeze and not enough to cool the room down. If I hadn’t already planned to leave the next day I would have checked out and found somewhere else to stay. It was miserable.
Horrible experience - Hotel is outdated and needs a refresh and better cleaning. It was a beautiful weekend outside unfortunately the hotel had not filled their chillers so the AC did not work. None of the windows in the room opened and even after sending maintenance they only opened the balcony less than 2 inches. Had I not already had plans to check out I would have left it was so miserable.
Like many, we have limited our travels and stays in hotels over the past two years. So, we were particulaly impressed with this property which has managed to actually increase its quality and impact on travelers. Our first impressions of cleanliness in the lobby were confirmed at check-in, in the elevator and, most importantly in our exec suite. Plus everyone with whom we interacted, from the desk, the bar and the friendly, courteous lady cleaning the entranceway was competent. While some hotels have suffered by loss of staff in various areas, the Marriott Suites Downers Grove has advanced--well done!
Enjoyed our stay. The room and whole hotel was very clean. Jon at the front desk was great and very accommodating. We loved the indoor/outdoor pool. We will definitely stay here next time we're down visiting family.
Traveled from Columbus to visit family close to the hotel and really enjoyed our stay. The living room with a fridge, microwave and extra tv made traveling as a family of 4 great. The rooms and hotel were very clean, kids enjoyed the pool and we enjoyed the bar. Ale the General Manager found out we were also celebrating a birthday and sent up a very nice amenity of cookies and milk for our little ones. She was great to talk to as was everyone we encountered. We will definitely stay here again on our next family visit.
When we recently stayed at this hotel we weren't overly impressed and were surprised to see guests in the lobby with no face masks on. Our bathroom waste basket wasn't emptied when we got there, and we really missed having waters in the rooms, no pens or paper, and no restaurant food during the week. I was also surprised that there was no magnifying mirror in the bathroom and the bathroom mirror that was there was chipped and looked very old. It was clean, but Covid has made hotels stays not very much fun that is for sure.
