After spending 2 nights there in July 2020 we came back for yet another treat in December. This time we booked a dinner in their Michelin star restaurant and OMG the food is absolutely fantastic! Also with all the Christmas decorations huge tree and classic Christmas songs it created this wonderful joyful atmosphere. Both times we stayed in castle suits, on the second occasion it was The Turlough O'Carolan Suite and it was just fantastic. Big, spacious room with a lake view (via enormous corner window), double sinked bathroom with jacuzzi tub While it is not exactly a budget accommodation, it is defo very decent price for a luxury suite.

There really isn't anywhere more relaxing than this superb hotel. From the first greeting as we drove up on Friday to check out this morning the service could not be faulted. Emma at reception was very welcoming, the room was beautiful with a view to the lake, the food was exceptional and the service perfection. We are both vegan and the food was just spectacular. The restaurant staff were so attentive and our every need was attended to. Anne and Mary in the dining room were friendliness itself and super efficient. Andy the deputy manager was on hand to make sure that we had a fabulous experience and we certainly did. We can't wait to return in the autumn.

After such a long period of Covid restrictions, (including a cancelled reservation at the end of November 2020), anticipation and excitement were high for my daughter and my return visit to Kilronan Castle Hotel and Spa over the weekend! And as ever, it did not disappoint! Check in was professional, friendly and efficient. We were genuinely welcomed with the staff seeming as pleased to be there as my daughter and I were! Everyone smiling and joking - relieved that some semblance of normality was once again within our grasp. A dining reservation adjustment was quickly resolved by the charming front of house manager Dermot by the time we reached our room. Kilronan is known for going 'above and beyond'...and in true fashion, a throw away comment regarding the last Covid cancelled birthday reservation, saw a personalised card and handmade chocolate selection waiting in the room for our arrival - a lovely touch! It was my daughter's first overnight stay with me in the hotel, and having worked previously in 4* and 5* hotels in the past, she was suitably impressed by the standard of the room, bathroom, toiletry selection, provision of robes and slippers and documentary evidence of Covid sanitation ( imagine that even being a thing of importance - but it is now, and with it comes peace of mind). We enjoyed the more casual dining option and drinks in the bar that night, with staff although very busy, continuing the trend of helpfulness and good humour! It was such a treat to be "out' for food and drinks! We had a fabulous cooked -to-order breakfast the next morning in the formal Douglas Hyde restaurant, again served by the most gorgeous and helpful staff. Which set us up nicely for our trip to the Spa... Oh the Spa! Oh that Spa experience! Our 11am booking was our treat to ourselves for surving the lockdown! In the very capable hands of Tara, Amy and Sinead we felt our stresses dissolve, our worries dissapte and floated to a heavenly place where bliss was the only option on the menu! Massages, facials, sauna and steam room forays, dips in the hydrotherapy pools followed by a period of lounge-lizarding around in the Relaxation Room - in a word...sublime! The wonderfully low lighting added a salve to the wobble of the covid kilo concerns!! I should say also, the Kilronan care didn't end on paying the bill...I returned home to find I'd left a top behind. My subsequent call was dealt with by a ' no problem, we'll sort it out' response, and they did within the hour! So there you have it folks! Do yourselves a fovour and make a booking. I've done so already and am looking forward to another joyful return!

Myself and my fiancée stayed in Kilronan Castle over the Christmas holidays. As it was a special occasion to celebrate our engagement, we decided to splash out. We stayed in the King Tenison Suite. We booked a special chefs tasting menu and all I can say is please give me more!! I started with a crab dish, followed by a sorbet and duo of smoked salmon and maine lobster tortellini and finished with a pannacotta dish. Caviar accompanied the starter and main. I washed it all down with a very nice house Malbec and calypso coffee. All dishes were fantastic. Our table service was unbeatable. With each selection, our waiter suggested some of the finer dishes and informed us of some of the more niche details of what we had ordered. I cannot praise our evening meal enough. That night we stayed in one of the main suites in the hotel. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the bathroom was spotless and the shower was amazing. We relaxed watching the TV and enjoyed some room service. The following morning we enjoyed our full irish breakfasts in the Douglas Hyde restaurant. Everything was cooked exquisitely and the service was impeccable. We definitely intend to stay at Kilronan again in the near future.
