Let's start with possitivity. Very clean buildings and surroundings. Spacious rooms, well decorated and furnished. Great room location for facilities. Now the rest. . . It's fair to say that this doesn't qualify as 5* , the food in the main restaurant all taste the same, the variety does include chips, chips and more chips. There is no excitement in mealtimes, neither is there any excitement in tasting other international dishes. There are a few other restaurants to try, but you need to wake up @ 07.00 to have a chance of booking them. 60% of outlet meals came from Kardamena, for which we were so grateful for a higher standard of food and variety. The additional expense was well worth it. Left 3 messages at reception for the TUI rep, who apparently works there each day, on the day of departure still had not been in touch. The entrance area to our rooms had pigeon mess on light fitting on the light fitting and floor space. Pool areas were very clean and maintained.. Being a seasoned traveller I would rate this 3* sadly rated so low due to the food quality and variation.

Fantastic service! Ben was awesome. Very helpful front desk. Ask for a room facing the street. The bed is very comfortable. AC was amazing too. Slightly thin walls but I have seen worse. Fantastic location if you take the blue line from Ohare. Walking distance to the Bean and Art Institute too.

I admit I was somewhat nervous about booking the Hotel Allegro because some reviews were so negative. I've since realized that those reviewers are probably not accustomed to staying in a city boutique hotel. I last stayed at the Hotel Allegro in 2019 and I thought it was fine. I booked it again because it was a great value and the perfect location for my business trip to the city. My 2022 experience outshines my 2019 visit. I arrived at my 11th-floor room around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening. My room was *perfect.* It was surprisingly spacious for the price and aesthetic. The room featured an iron, a mini fridgerator, multiple charging stations, a television, and a desk. I was surprised to see the hotel offered robes and slippers since the evening rate was so affordable. The hotel elevators are remarkably fast (maybe the fastest I've ever experienced?) and the bellman are very friendly. There is a Starbucks on the ground floor of the building that houses the Hotel Allegro. They open at 5:30 a.m., even on Sundays, so I couldn't ask for more! I didn't get the chance to have a cocktail at the lobby bar but it looked lovely. The property is one block from the Orange line (Midway airport) and about 3 or 4 blocks from Ogilvie station. You can easily walk, as I did, to Michigan Avenue and River North restaurants and bars. P.S. I had spoken with Adam, the assistant property manager, via email prior to my arrival. He was incredibly kind and made sure my experience was perfect. Thank you, Adam!

I stayed here for 3 nights. I did not enjoyed my stay. Rooms are not what you expect. They are smaller No cleaning services, our room was never cleaned ! No restaurant No coffee or tea at the room. Good things: Nice staff Nice lobby For the same price or even less you can stay at the Loews that is a much much better hotel. We moved for our last nights there and I regretted paying for the Alegro…

We stayed over Labor Day weekend, booking two rooms several months in advance. They couldn't find the reservation then ended up putting us on different floors at opposite ends of the hotel. There are no onsite amenities except for a bar open after 4pm every day. We were there 3 days and had to recharge our room keys every day. These were kept away from wallets/magnets/etc...they just have a poor magnetizing system. So it became an ordeal just getting into our rooms every day. Then there was the Karen issue - we had noise complaints called on us every day. In one instance we had just walked into the room and turned the TV on. Not 10 MINUTES LATER, hotel staff showed up to tell us we needed to be quiet. This happened at 8pm on a Friday night. They would not move us or offer any options on how to deal with this idiot that would not stop complaining to them. Instead, the hotel left us high and dry and basically threatened to kick us out of the hotel (after this went on the entire weekend). Keep in mind, this was 4 people talking and laughing in a hotel room over Labor Day weekend in Chicago. This really was the icing on the cake. Despite all the other issues we had to deal with, this nonsense was over the top. We had friends that came up to go to shows with us and we wanted to be able to hang out and relax in our hotel room. At Allegro? Not going to happen. This alone should serve as a warning to anyone thinking about staying here with children. What a total joke!!! The hotel does NOT have valet service during the week, so we narrowly got our car back on Sunday (they would have held until the following Thursday). Took an hour to get the car out as well despite there being nobody there. The tell-tale sign that this was in shambles was that every time I went to the front desk (which was all the damn time), they were having to comp this or that with an irate customer. It is such a shame, because the location is great and the building itself is really awesome. This is a management issue entirely and 100% fault lies at their feet. The employees were just doing what they were told, but the unmitigated disaster of property management by those in charge was clear as day. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY. PLENTY OF OTHER HOTELS IN THE AREA.

I was in Chicago on business and decided to stay downtown and stayed at the Allegro. From start to finish it was a great, enjoyable time. My room was comfortable, however, what impressed me the most was the staff. They were all wonderful. One person of note was Trevon. I was standing in line waiting to get to the front desk and observed how he treated the people before me. He was kind and welcoming, and most importantly patient. I made it a point to tell him this and thus write this review. Please stay and ask for him!

Very well located to explore Downtown Chicago. Rooms are small, and ours had not much of a view and window could not be opened, but we were not planning to stay inside during the day, so that was OK. The interior decoration was stylish. Service was not bad. Had a bit of a bad experience coming back after dinner the first night, when our stay was somehow not registered at the concierge, so we were only allowed in after making some phone calls to the reception to make sure we were actually staying there. It's good to have security measures in place, but just make sure your systems are up to date then.

DO NOT STAY HERE! When we first arrived, the valet guys refused to take our bags out of the car until we checked in so we went inside and upstairs and checked in. When we returned for our bags, the car was gone. They “totally forgot, oh my God” even though they told us they would hold the car there until we checked in. 20 minutes later they brought our car back and still refused to get the bags out and help us up to the room. No bellhop service. We took all our luggage up ourselves. At checkout time, we called the # on the valet ticket from our room and requested the car and were told OK. When we went down to check out and collect the car, our keys were at the front desk and staff member Hetal said there were no valet staff present that day and we would have to walk (with our luggage) to the garage ourselves and FIND our car. She also had no idea where it was parked. I do not blame her and she was very kind and apologetic but WHAT THE HELL? We ended up going to the garage, which has 12 FLOORS, and had to literally check every floor for the car before finally finding it after an hour. We were so relieved to have found it but then were not allowed to leave the garage because we didn’t have a garage ticket and were expected to pay two full days of parking despite already being charged valet fee at hotel. We only had the valet ticket provided by the hotel. FINALLY a manager appeared and checked our valet ticket and let us out. DO NOT STAY HERE! UNACCEPTABLE!!

Great location, very average for the price Room serviced every 3 days, was small in size and kind of dingy, interiors were old-ish, and is priced way too high for its quality. I will not recommend this to a friend

First, they couldn't find my reservation and told me it was my responsibility to call Chase (I used points to pay) to sort it out, even though I was showing them the confirmed booking on my phone. The person "helping" me was surly and obviously extremely bored with her job. To be fair, the manager sorted it all out and was very kind, but the rest of the staff throughout my stay was not good. Second, the hotel just did not look clean. I don't mind no housekeeping while I'm there, but I do expect a clean room when I arrive. Third, the bar scene in the evenings is loud and raucous and so noisy that we had to go into another room just to have a quiet drink. Finally, the decor is pretty tacky. The hotel used to be much nicer looking. Finally, the restaurant that used to be in the hotel is still closed. I will not stay there again.
