Arrived and no real directions as to where the reception area was-2nd floor after asking another guest. No one at the check in desk. Called 3 different numbers- no answer. Finally someone came 15 minutes later. By now there were a total of 4 in the que. Flat affect, asked to make sure rooms were by each other. Nope! Same floor but in opposite directions and around corners. We were with my elderly mother and wanted her close in case she needed us. Ice machine broken-had to go to other floors to get. I mentioned it upon check out. “Oh yes, but you could go to another floor and get ice”. Rooms were small but clean. Big shower. Used valet parking-Joshua very pleasant and helpful! Could stay for 20 hours and free in/out during that time. Normally I just leave upon check out but had questions on resort fees. City, county, state tax are high in Chicago which I knew. Now there’s another tax! Hotel was convenient for where we were going on Michigan Ave.

First and LAST time I will go there. It is the worst customer experience I've ever had, I would NEVER advise this place. I was in my room when someone break in (supposed to have the same room). I ask the staff to change of room, I didn't feel safe to stay in that room with all my stuff inside, knowing someone had the same key. They literally LIED to me, saying that the hotel was "fully booked". I went on the website, it has PLENTY of rooms available. The ladies at the front desk were disrespectful, and very rude, made me feel I was lying, not professional at all. Because they didn't trust me, I ask the security to check on the camera, they didn't do it, no one ever called us. We waited 3 hours in our room and clearly waisted my Sunday afternoon in Chicago, and no one cared. I went back to the front desk, and all a sudden one of the lady finally found a new room for us. They have security issue, and staff issue clearly. The guy from the security was either drunk or high, couldn't even respond to my questions. I was supposed to get a call from the Manager, never got any. So, go anywhere but NOT there.

After reading a lot of reviews, I was fully prepared for the worst prior to my stay. As a matter of fact, I had a back up hotel in mind near the airport just in case. But this hotel is really ok. Not amazing, but suitable for the picky traveler (like me). Please first research the history of this historic hotel and understand it was built in the 1920’s. So the rooms are small. That’s just how hostel rooms were back then. Expect nothing more than a bed, small bathroom and desk area and not much room to move around. However, once you come to terms with this you can appreciate the history of the hotel and it’s charm. The Warwick has done a fantastic job of updating the rooms just enough to be comfortable by today’s standards..but still preserving the charm of it’s history. My room was very clean. I am very particular about hotel rooms, and I can honestly say the only dust I found was on the fire sprinkler on the ceiling. Even the AC vents were well dusted. And the location is fantastic! Great shopping and dining nearby. And the Starbucks coffee in the room was an amazing touch since most hotels give you cheap coffee that tastes like cardboard. A few cons that I found: The carpet in the room was definitely due for replacement. Some stains..but it was well vacuumed. I recommend packing socks or slippers to wear in the room. It’s not terribly gross, but like I said, I am picky. The bed was more firm than I would prefer. The room did smell like cigarettes. Maybe it’s just permanently in the walls given the age of the hotel. And I’m a smoker so it didn’t bother me as much as it might bother others. But the room did have an odor. There is no bar or restaurant in the hotel. It would have been nice to have a place to relax and have a meal without having to leave the hotel at the end of the day. But not a total deal breaker. DoorDash did deliver rather quickly and they brought the food right up to my room. I gave the hotel 3 stars. When you think of 4 star hotels by todays standards, it’s not quite there. But it’s cozy and charming and the location is perfect for a great Chicago experience.

Room 2114......location superb....but then it goes downhill from there........rude checkin process and argumentative. Get beyond the unexpected introduction and the rating falters on room quality. It is tough as my Warwick experience over last 20 years uses the NYC location as my standard. Chicago location found an very sizable room. However, the carpet is very dated in the room and hallway. No bedside charging ports. The bathroom......let's say..when the shower mat is bigger than the floor we have a problem. So small that turning around is done slowly and with purpose so as not to bang against the wall. ZERO space to place amenities. The shower stall looked like a prefab weekend DIY installation from Home Depot. A/C very meager. On checkin you get a two page faded xerox sheet as to what they DO NOT provide. Zero housekeeping during your stay....if you need extra towels etc., you must go to 2nd floor lobby as retrieve the items. Jot that you can pre-request as told one has to go to the lobby.....make your request...then wait 15 minutes before the retrieve them.....then wait for elevator to return with skimpy sized towels(told limited to 2) as if one was receiving deluxe service at Motel Vagabond. Return ? Doubtful.....given the NYC location as my comparison model with 5/5 rating....Chicago is a 2/5 experience based on checkin service....dated accomodations....and a bathroom smaller than the the starboard side of a 787 aircraft.

this is a great location and the price of a queen-size one-bed here can’t be beat for a hotel that’s walking distance from millennium park and the riverwalk. however, the photos on the website falsely advertise the size of the rooms. the staff are also quite rude when asked about billing or housekeeping. both in person and on the phone, they made it very difficult to get information about random credit card charges made during my stay. there’s a $60 hold per night that you stay over, which is also not communicated unless you ask about it, so be mindful of that when you’re putting your card down. you also need to request housekeeping services 24 hours in advance of when you’d like it, which isn’t abnormal for hotels now but they make it difficult to request when you ask. it is also insanely difficult to get ahold of them on the phone before or after your stay - they rarely pick up at the front desk and also keep trying to cut the conversation short and ask you to call back again later. there is also no microwave in the room! overall, it’s a great price, but comes with bad service.

The hotel is well located and beautiful from the outside. That is however where it ends. The rooms are dated and certainly not what I would categorize as modern day 4 star. I had an issue with my AC and the bed was not comfortable. The sheets were old and worn. You can also hear footsteps above (I stayed on the 6th floor). If you can live with all that the hotel is adequate but nothing special.

The hotel is in a great location with Michigan Avenue very close and many stores and attractions a 15-20 minute walk away. We got the upgraded King Room which had a good amount of room to move around. The bathroom is nice and clean. The bed is nice and comfortable and the TV is big. There is a decent size closet as well. There was plenty of hot water in the shower and everything was clean. We were on floor 13, I saw floor 5 and the carpet looked horrible. Get a higher floor room. The AC in the middle of summer works well and our room was quiet and I heard very little city noise. I wish they included some shampoo and conditioner. Fortunately, we brought our own. There is no housekeeping and they shut down by evening, so ask for extra towels earlier in the day. Same thing applies to coffee equipment as they have no coffee downstairs. I would have liked them to have some services. Even housekeeping every other day would be acceptable. Having to ask for coffee and extra towels took away from the room experience. The people at the front are nice and did help the best they could. There is no way to store suitcases which seemed very odd. Even the lowest cost hotels do this. Great hotel itself but I wish a few things could have been different.

The hotel is in a great location and the room has such great potential. We are quite disappointed with the lack of housekeeping. We were not aware that we would not receive housekeeping throughout our stay. We have three people staying in a room with no trash or housekeeping service. We definitely would have chosen a different hotel had we known this. It’s only day 2 and our trash is overflowing. Housekeeping only works till 4 and we have to ask the front desk for towels, toiletries, and coffee??

Summary: comfortable and well located place to stay with no frills. Definitely NOT a 4 star hotel. Very little luxury involved. A little ratty around the edges TL,DR: The good: bed was comfortable, good views, EXCELLENT location in downtown Chicago, walking distance from great shopping/food/sights. Good shower pressure, decent amount of space. It got the job done. The bad: the service is greatly downsized 'due to covid'. I'm not sure why Covid means there can be no bellboys, concierge, and cleaning staff after 4:30pm but that was the case. The check in, while speedy, didn't tell us that housekeeping only comes upon request and only if you request 24 hours in advance. The skeleton staff all seems to be overwhelmed/inexperienced/ineffective. Weirdly the room only had a bottle of lotion and a bottle of shampoo of different brands. I asked for more products and they gave me a few bottles of yet more random brands of travel soaps. They will not pick up the phone if you call housekeeping, the front desk, guest services, or concierge. Basically, no service.
