Seems like all of the money to spruce this place up went into the lobby! Our bathroom was gross - the grout in the shower and the grout on the floor was visibly dirty. You know when you can see that some grout is light but high traffic areas are dark? It speaks to poor attention to detail and lack of deep cleaning. The light switches were also visibly dirty. Overall the bathroom layout was odd - impossible to reach a towel from the shower. The amenity fee was a pretty cruddy surprise - especially given that the amenities weren’t anything special. Check in was smooth and the light blocking curtains worked really well! Great location, though you’ll want to hunt for cheaper overnight parking if you bring a car.

Our two night stay was very good. Friendly staff, large room, clean, comfortable lobby with cafe/bar. Beautiful neighborhood with restaurants, bars, shops, walkable to Michigan Ave. Highly recommend it!

I thought this hotel was incredibly nice. It's an older hotel but it has the customer service of a mainstream chain. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. I will stay here again on my trip to Chicago.

Our daughter's wedding was in Chicago on 9/30/2023. We had over 40 rooms of family & friends staying at the Claridge, and it was a fantastic experience! Miz Cookie at the check-in desk was patient, fun and so very welcoming to our large, loud group of family. Working with Jasmin in the sales department to organize a space for family to gather over the weekend was an absolute pleasure. The Claridge offers the DaVinci room on site that is an excellent space to host a welcome party, post- wedding breakfast and hospitality room. There is also a large room/suite that is available which was perfect for the bridal party prep. The Claridge House offered every amenity to make our weekend run smoothly, including an excellent location. But the real bonus was the staff who helped make this weekend so special! Highly recommend…

We booked Claridge House for 2 nights for a wedding that we were attending. Our flight was cancelled from Florida to Chicago. I called the hotel and said that we would not be arriving that evening but would be there the following afternoon. I called the hotel directly but no one answered at the front desk so I went to their call center that was off site. The women told me she could not refund me on the spot but to ask the front desk for the night credit the following day when I arrive. The call center woman said that she would but our conversation in the "notes." When we arrived on the following afternoon, we were told that we there would be no refund as we did not call to cancel. I explained that I did call and she said that we were a no-show. She had to fumble around to find our reservation which showed as a no-show. We were given a room with a view of dumpsters in the alley and so tiny we could barely walk around the bed. I asked to speak with the manager and he was not working Saturday afternoon. We left at 6:00 am on Sunday, so nothing was resolved. I emailed the manager, Colin Challender twice, he never replied. I continued to receive surveys about the property but no one would reply to my emails or my completed surveys. Claridge House is in a great location but it is the worst customer service I have ever encountered. To put that comment in perspective, I have traveled to 79 countries and 7 continents. Room was the size expected. No amenities really, had to ask for a 2nd luggage rack (no bureau). Bed comfortable, ac worked, used the safe. Quiet and was able to relax. No room cleaning for the time we were there which was for four days. A bit odd. Location was excellent and beautiful area surrounded by brown stones.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I had a booking issue and they refused to resolve it. Took my money and told me too bad. No rebooking possible. So much for being a loyaty member. I will NEVER book here again. In fact, I will go out of my way to tell others not to book here either. They clearly have zero interest in repeat business!

Disappointed by the terrible service at this hotel because location is excellent, room is nice, but the worst I’ve experienced at a hotel. I left behind a fairly expensive item & was initially told they found it but then it was never returned after 6 weeks, 7 separate phone calls (including with management), and 2 emails. Ultimately the $100 item isn’t the point. It’s the lack of hospitality, customer service, and consideration for my time. Do not stay here. Detailed story and screenshots attached to review: -When I called to see if the item was found, I was told to file a report on a third-party website and I would get an update within a week. Nobody reached out. -I called and the front desk said they would look into it and call me back. They didn’t. -I called again, and this time the receptionist was helpful and said she’d check with housekeeping personally. She confirmed they found the electric toothbrush and housekeeping would be in touch to arrange shipping (as long as pay for shipping which I agreed). Nobody called. -I called again, and was asked for my address and told it would be sent. -After two weeks, I called again to check. Nobody had any record of this request but I was told they would email me to sort out shipping. Nobody did. -Next call I’m told they are so sorry and asked to send a link to the item so they can replace it. Nobody returned the two emails I sent. -On my last and final call with management, I was told they didn’t have the item and she was surprised I wasn’t called back but that it wasn’t her fault and blamed housekeeping. She assured me the housekeeping manager would call me within the hour. She didn’t.…

My room was prepaid by a friend. When I checked out, $129 was charged to my account. I called them about the mistake, but was told that the $100 charges were for amenities (small fridge, microwave, coffee pot, etc. and the $29 was for the tiny body soap, shampoo and conditioner. I live on disability and only have a small amount of money. Those charges pretty much left me with nothing. I would have nothing to eat, no money for an Uber or anything else. I explained again that these charges were NOT disclosed at the time that the room was paid. Nothing I hate more than being lied to.

Good choice for this area of town, and you can find reasonable deals if you search around. Just don't pay for their massively overpriced parking. Pros: Good location; quiet; decent room. Cons: Parking onsite is overpriced by at least $20. Restaurant and bar shut down unusually early. Rooms near elevator can hear mechanical noises. We stayed in a room next to the elevator, and all night long we could hear the whirring / clunking of the elevator. Otherwise, the room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. The onsite parking is at least US$20 more expensive than other parking garages a block away. If you've got a car, park elsewhere.
