Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.

My boss booked this location for a conference that we had downtown. Hotel was clean and check in/out was quick. Location is just a short walk to mass transit. Can eat on premise or at numerous local establishments. Room was comfortable and had a small table at which to work. Bathroom towel for shower was very thick!

We arrived approx 9:30pm and got to the desk to not be greeted at all as the guy manning the desk was too busy playing a game on his phone. Even when we was checking us in he was still playing on it!! Wasn’t interested at all and didn’t bother telling us what time check out was or that we got a breakfast voucher - had to ask someone else about these. The room was lovely, clean and a decent size for the area. The whole visit was just let down by your staff

We've stayed at quite a few hotels in Chicago while visiting our daughter and Claridge House is one of the best! Staff were very personable and friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable. Definitely will stay again!

I booked using chase points. When we arrived at 3:30 (check in time was stated as 3pm), we were told that there were no King bedrooms available. I told them I booked a deluxe king room, and showed my confirmation email. We were told that the booking didnt show up as that, even though it cost me more points to reserve the deluxe room. They gave us a deluxe room but said it wasn't much of a "view". When we got into our bedroom it was literally NO view. Not just not a good one. There was not an actual window to the outside, just one to the stairwell. The room was dark and didn't look anything like the pictures. I was embarrassed as I tried to book a really nice room for my husband's birthday and it just felt like such a let down compared to what I thought I was booking. Luckily my husband is laid back and we made the most of it. To top it all off there was a huge bug in the room the next morning, which was probably there all night. yuck. Too bad because the lobby was super cute, location is great, and employees were friendly. Just wish the room matched the expectations set by the pictures online.

The Hotel was advised as 4 star when I booked it but it's more of a 2.5 star. The room is smaller than a comparable 3 or 4 star hotel, the tv is small, there's no refrigerator in the room and even no ironing table/board (though it can be got by requesting the front desk). The hotel appears a little run down and the WIFI is very very slow. There is also a resort fee that it charges which is over and above the price you pay on any website. However on the positive side, the price is better than you get at most hotels in the area. The room was clean and the housekeeping was prompt. The employees were also very helpful for whenever I requested their help. Overall it's not a bad hotel if you are looking from a price perspective but the bad wifi connection will prevent me from using this hotel for any business trips
