Location, location, location Price, Price, Price. Nice folks running the show This is a "typical" building from the 1930's (my guess) that seems to have been repurposed from something else so some of the design stuff is a little strange, but clean, comfortable and right in the middle of Lincoln park can’t be beat!

We had a room with 2 beds on the first floor. It appears to have been 2 single rooms in the past, since we had 2 bathrooms. Bathrooms were small, but we had decent water pressure and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was small muffins, pastries, cereal, juice, coffee. They have a small parking lot beside the hotel for $32, or there is a parking garage close by for a little less. We were able to park about 1/2 mile away for free. It was quiet when we were there, but it was off season according to the front desk (weekend before Christmas). Front desk was fine at checkin and checkout. If the price is right, would stay again.

They get two stars because the location is excellent and the price is unbelievably cheap. If you want to stay near the lake in a pretty neat neighborhood and don't care about the quality of where you sleep, this place is perfect. They lose the rest because the place itself is just bad. Sure the bed is okay, but nothing else was good. First of all the front desk people mostly straight up ignore you, not so much as a how are you doing today. They sit in the silent lobby and ignore guests until they go away. There was one guy who I assume owns the place who is fine, but he clearly doesn't invest in his property or his employees. Seems like he bought the place in awful condition and simply kept it in operation without lifting a finger to bring the place into decent condition. The curtains in my room were filthy and had holes chewed through by lord knows what. The free "breakfast" doesn't exist as far as I could tell, everything is old and falling apart, the elevator has a notice saying it failed inspection in January of 2019 (almost a year ago by the time I stayed there), and I actually for real found blood stains on the dresser. The room was barely ready for me, but come on guys, blood stains? It only takes a modicum of pride in your business to not want visible blood stains in the room. They were dry stains so I let it go, but for most people I think they would go find another place to stay. The first night the heat went out (though it was very nice and warm in my room anyway for whatever reason), the place smells faintly of gasoline, the shower barely worked a, drawers in the closet hung open and wouldn't close, the tableside lamp was filthy, all of the furniture and appliances were clearly extremely old and used and dirty, and the television in the room was installed such that there were wires everywhere to the cable box which consistently cut in and out. Basically they badly need to renovate the place. It appears to be in the exact same condition as it was when it opened. Lastly, the rooms are probably 7x7, barely bigger than a maximum security cell, which I'm not sure they can help but was rather claustrophobic. That all being said, I paid all of 60 bucks a night to stay in a really cool area. I don't think paying another 40 bucks or something would be bad if it would just help them renovate. Cut rate is one thing, but I would be embarrassed to own or work for this business. They're lucky the code enforcement folks there don't shut the place down. There is a hotel only slightly more expensive and in far better condition above the coffee and donut place across the street. I'm staying there next time.

I did not like reception attitude. Water pressure on faucets are weak and if you take a bath it's not hot enough and water flow is low. So you feel cold. In addition the bath tub is small that I had hard time moving around. And I'm small 5'8. I just did not like the hotel. It's in good location thought. That's is the only benefit. So my advice is go somewhere else. I don't recommend this place.

Yuk. Nice lobby.great location near shops food lincoln park zoo. Rooms depressing. Plumbing and electrical sketchy. Cracked shower walls. Plugshanging off the wall. Sheets thin. Towels thin. Nice soap but no hot water pressure. Rug nasty. And I am not a fussy hotel guest but this was below even my standards.people seem nice. Very overpriced. But will never return.

Poor plumbing the hot water pressure on the 4th floor was pencil thin. The bathroom reeked of stale dirty clogged drain pipes. Room had burned out light bulb. Had to ask for the usual in room coffee at the front desk. Beds are civil war hard and pillows were tiny thin cheap foam. Great view of their competition from the room window that we will be sure to call on our next visit. Older building carried noise from hallways of late night guests returning to their rooms.

Historic yes, but very "tired". Furnishings don't "match" the overall look of the hotel. The light fixture in my room had no shade/covering so it was quite a glare and they haven't even bothered to match the light bulbs. The bed linens were minimal at best and threadbare. Towels need to be replaced as does the shower curtain. First floor room - be sure to check your windows - mine were not locked. Maintenance had to come to get one of them shut tight and locked.

Tried this place for the first time. Was pleasantly surprised. Friendly staff. On site parking for $35 a day (limited availability). Got great rates during the week using association discount. Room was quiet despite being near the street. Walk everywhere. Steps to the Diversey CTA Station. LA Fitness in the Century Plaza Theater. Starbucks steps away. Breakfast was muffins and juice. Property is older but in top shape. When I did not answer my wake up call, they came and knocked on my door. In room coffee. Water pressure was fine. Not sure what other reviewers were concerned about. If you are on a budget and love staying in the neighborhood instead of in the Loop (and are budget minded), check this out.
