With apologies to Shakespeare, “How do I hate thee, let me count the ways.” (1) A rude, completely-indifferent check-in person; (2) A poorly-lit room with tacky, clearly-second-hand furniture and a bed frame that doesn’t even fit the size of the bed ; (3) Heat that was turned off despite a several-day weather forecast of rain and temperatures in the 50s (the clerk however insisted the weather was supposed to be hot tomorrow); A grungy bathroom with poor lighting and dated fixtures; A lobby that looks like the common room in a dormitory; A broken phone with the wrong room number on it that was clearly just left over from the previous owner; etc. And this at the outrageous price of nearly $900 for four nights. The room would have been a ripoff it it cost $75/night and it was located alongside the railroad in a small depopulated town somewhere in a third world country.…
I had a few of my employees in Chicago (where I'm based) for a company retreat and the experience was going great until the last 2 days. The second to last day the hot water was completely out for an entire day. Also, I extended the trip by 2 days by stopping by the front desk and I was told that the final 2 days would be discounted by 30%. When my team checked out, that discount wasn't applied.
Terrible experience.. checked in at 3pm. Room not ready until 4:50pm. Day 2 - asked for towels and to have room freshened. Detached front desk personnel said, “we only clean rooms every 3 days”. No guarantee on towels. Day 4 - cleaned room. No towels provided. Asked 2x today, 2x on day 3 and 2. Only one towel for 4 days. Each morning and evening there’s a line of customer’s complaining at the front desk. One mother was crying. I could go on. Not worth the bother. This is a cheap hostel - not a 1 star hotel. Water running in the pipes - sure to keep you up at night (15th floor). This was the 2nd worst hotel stay in my life around the world. The worst was at a Best Western In Houston (plane was canceled) that had bars on the windows and prostitutes and users in the parking lot. Stay away from the Selina Hotel Chicago at all costs. I hope you find this helpful.…
I book a room I person 1 room. They claimed that I booked a community room ( a shared room) I had called them a few weeks to ask about checking in my room early. I also found out the hot water was not working and has not been I did not not check in and advise everyone not to
The receptionist was rude and refused to let me in because she did not see my reservation on the computer. When called by Priceline, she refused to talk to them and lied to me pretending they wanted to talk to me instead. Kafkaesque. I had to find another hotel, and then they refused to give me the money back. Priceline is launching an investigation over this hotel. To avoid at all costs. Worst service I have encountered in my life.
This hotel was unexpectedly wonderful. Unexpected because it was such a reasonable price in the heart of Chicago. The room was clean and comfortable, with beautiful lighting. It was a very comfortable size. The entrance to the hotel, from the outside, was unassuming but as soon as you stepped through the front door you know you're in for a treat. Stop for a moment to enjoy the artwork just inside the front door! There is a simple reception at the back of the entrance lobby, which is largely given over to comfortable seating/reading/working area. I was only there one night but it's the kind of place it would be a pleasure to stay at longer.
Checked into 607 and the duvet was dirty the housekeeper just flipped it. No garbage bag in the room very disappointed. The shower had scum around it. Didn’t want to get in. Please just do your job that’s it.
Front desk service was great. But when I got to my room. It was very dirty. The floor in the bathroom had hair on it. The sheets was clean but the cover was nasty wasn’t changed. And the bath tub had chemical left in it. It started to irritate my skin.. the housekeeper left a card she should be fired!!!!
Stayed in a family room. Didn’t realize the rooms have no tv. The internet did work well however. Size of room was ok. Only got Luke warm water out of the shower at any time. Cleanliness was ok. Had food left behind nightstand and cobwebs on the ceiling. Beds were fairly comfortable. Thermostat didn’t work at all. Was freezing if the blower was left on. One ice machine for all the rooms which had no ice one night. No ice buckets to get ice when there was some. Downstairs had a decent atmosphere and sitting area. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Location was great. 4 minutes walk to water tower place and magnificent mile. Starbucks across street for breakfast or coffee. Price was ok for location.
