An upscale boutique hotel located within Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood and just steps from the iconic Michigan Avenue, our beautiful building came of age in the 1920s-a boom time for jazz, art and the downtown skyline.

The Talbott Hotel wins favor for its prime location and pet-friendly accommodations, with many guests enjoying the cozy and updated atmosphere. However, some travelers note the limited gym and an unwelcome mandatory amenities fee. While the rooms are praised for their comfort, critiques mention they can be on the darker side and lack a touch of luxury. The service receives mixed reviews, with commendations for friendliness alongside concerns over responsiveness and valet parking. Cleanliness is generally well-regarded, though there's room for improvement in certain areas.

Everything was amazing about our stay at the Talbott Hotel. The door men was beyond helpful, telling us the cheap places to park our car (instead of valet at the hotel), local restaurants and a place to go for groceries within walking distance.

For a boutique hotel, the room was double the size that was expected. We just had a normal double queen room, but there was so much extra room, and a seating area. Everything was clean, the bathroom was also nice sized, and they had large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotion. It was nice not to have to try to squeeze out a few drops of shampoo of a small travel size bottle, just to wash my long hair, and since there were three girls in the room, we didn't have to ask for more. Plus that, the conditioner was quite nice (not cheap).

The location was amazing, just a block and a half off the Magnificent Mile (near the Water Tower). The walk to Michigan Avenue was very posh too! Same street as the Drake and the Four Seasons! I can't believe the price for what we got. Booked on Travelocity.com and got a great deal. I just can't imagine staying anywhere else.

I just can't say enough about our stay and the people who work there! I will book a trip again to Chicago... just to stay in the Talbott again, seriously!!!

Restaurant, valet, and minibar currently closed due to covid 19. But room was well cleaned on arrival, hotel is in central downtown location with great restaurants and shops within minutes of hotel. Minibar items are available for purchase in the lobby and hotel is very quiet. Have zero complaints about hotel

We had a wonderful long weekend in the Windy City. The hotel’s location was perfect for our shopping trips and we had numerous restaurants within walking distance, the breakfast served at the hotel was delicious. The entire staff was helpful and courteous. The housekeeping staff was excellent, especially Rosemary Miller. She went out of her way to help make our stay comfortable. We will be back!

All of the staff makes an effort to be very welcoming and helpful. The concierge left a welcome note for our son, a nice touch that was unnecessary but appreciated. The stay had multiple moments like that.

This is a great location, good access to various modes of transportation and walkable access a wide range of food styles and price points.

This is an older building that has been updated and well appointed without losing the historic feel. The elephant in the room, so to speak, is the elevators. Nice and cozy. But plan for extra travel time during prime check-in/out time.

I have booked The Talbott hotel after doing many reviews and comparisons. The room I booked was a 2 queen beds as and it was massive, I am sure it is very difficult to find such size in mid-Chicago. The location is central with many things to do nearby, within 10-15 mins walking. The lift is a bit slow but no big deal.
Will definitely consider staying there again if in central Chicago

We arrived 8am in the morning, the hotel offered us early checkin for a fee. The room we were given originally didnt have a desk, which is kinda strange cuz the room is very spacious and defiantly has room for a desk in my opinion. Because my husband need to work during the day, we asked to switch to a room with a desk. The staff was nice, they upgraded us to a room with desk for free. The room is much nicer and very different than some of the photos online, they must have redid the rooms at some point. All the lamps have USB, which is very convenient to charge cell phones, but one of them was not working in our room. There is fridge in the room but no minibar and coffee machine, not sure if this is due to COVID.

The location is also very good, walking distance to many of the shops, restaurants and attractions.

Overall well worth the money.

The hotel location is great for downtown Chicago, but you will have an "urban facility fee" of $15 a night added to your bill, not shown in the Hotels.com price. A Snickers Bar fro the snack draw was $5.

The Talbott has a great location - nearby North Michican Avenue, the Water Tower place and the Big John building. Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants all around, varying from cheap, local snacks to more sophisticated restaurants. Safe district, even at night. I did not experience any problem so I cannot comment on the service. The staff at breakfast is not very reactive - but the janitor and cleaning staff were all smiling and friendly. Rooms are OK - A/C not too noisy. Only two lifts can be slow at peak hours. No issues upon checking in/out. Probably not a hotel for romance, just a functional and convenient place when staying in Chicago.

We loved the Talbott!

My husband and I last minute decided to do a local getaway for the weekend and we checked out hotel deals and found one that was very cheap and rated 4 stars. Once we checked in to this other hotel, the room smelled like smoke and the hotel was old looking not updated and the bed was the hardest bed I’ve ever laid on. 5 minutes in, I was pretty unhappy as the pictures on the site looked so different. This other hotel was able to give me my money back and my husband and I had to quickly find another hotel last minute.

We couldn’t decide and wanted to stay in the GoldCoast area and then came across the Talbott Hotel so I booked it last minute. Once we arrived, the person that greeted us and I wish I remembered her name, she was so welcoming and inviting. The hotel was leaps and bounds different from the other hotel and has an upscale old school feel to it. We upgraded to a King suite and we were very happy with our stay and plan on returning in the future.

We booked two rooms many months in advance for Memorial Weekend. We had specifically requested 2 queens in both rooms but somehow a mistake was made and with them fully booked, we were stuck with a rollaway. One of the rooms did have some plumbing and blinds issues. I felt the staff tried their best to resolve but seemed overwhelmed with how to manage this first busy weekend. The doorman was really friendly and stuck with me the 3 days we were in/out of the hotel. Great location by the high end shopping area and steps from Michigan Ave. A Starbucks is across the street. There is no valet parking and I discovered a website called Spothero that was half the price that offer two places just a few minutes walk from the hotel.

Thank you for your notes and for staying with The Talbott! My apologies we stumbled with the room type as you mentioned, we'll do better on your next trip! Our engineer and I have reviewed the blind and plumbing issues, those should not have been present for your stay. We appreciate the notes and are addressing them. AJF
