Our son's wedding was at PUBLIC Chicago last weekend, and the hotel's staff, food and amenities were even better than I could have hoped. The wedding was on the rooftop, and the reception was in the library on the first floor, which the hotel closed off to guests that night. (The Pump Room and other venues were still open --... More

Primarily as a business traveller looking for good location, facilities etc. . this hotel is excellent. Once you've spent some time in the hotel you also discover a little more of the history of the building and area - really interesting stuff in the context of downtown Chicago's story. Food always excellent in the main restaurant. Helpful, attentive staff (as... More

Our family including two children age 12 and nine stayed in a one bedroom suite, while my in-laws stayed in a smaller room. The location is excellent - in a quiet street off the Magnificent Mile. The lobby and common areas are very well appointed. The staff was also very helpful, especially the valet and Bellman. However the rooms are... More

Great staff, great spacious rooms and vibe throughout the hotel. Definitely a modern chic place that is legit. The location is great too as you can walk to so many places so easily. Will stay here again for sure.

Written this twice and app crashed so will be brief. Outside of hotel - Pleasing to pull up to especially after long travel, people on the ball to help with bags. They don't take them to your room though. Staff - Fantastic and nothing too big or small to deal with. Girl noticed we were on honeymoon and upgraded our... More

This is a very nice area to stay in Chicago. We had never stayed at this hotel before and we were very pleasantly surprised. The front desk staff (Travis?) was very accommodating and check in was quick and convenient. The room was very clean and trendy. Overall great hotel for our trip to a ball game!

Let me preface this review by saying that I first visited the hotel back in 2012 during Lollapalooza and found it to be a great hotel with lots to offer and a killer location. I returned this week where I was utterly blown away. The hotel offers what I would call a "trendy, modern elegance" in a CHIC building. The... More

We stayed at the Public for a weekend event. It was nice but "screamed" old. The rooms were very small and crowed. The room was down a very narrow hall, there were no hand rails in the bathroom. The bathroom was not fan vented, which caused wet walls and floor during showering. If you need a disability compatible room, make... More

We recently stayed at this beautiful hotel. The décor was fabulous and our room was amazing. The location is about 15 min walk from the heart of the city but if you make your way out of the hotel to the shore drive it is a fabulous walk, which takes you past the beach and the famous Drake Hotel. The... More

3 night stay at the end of a road trip. This hotel is in a great location, an easy walk to bars, shops and restaurants. Lake Michigan is an easy walk too. Staying in Gold Coast

Neighborhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
