I stayed in this hotel three nights because i was not able to find another bed in town. I really did not like it, is very old, with the roof broken, quite dirty and really poor in term of service. The location is the unique thing that save this place from the end...!

The only positive point I can give to this hotel is that it is right off the Mag Mile, which is great for shopping and within relative walking distance to all major attractions. Other than that, this was the only room available in central chicago that didn't require a 40 min drive. The hotel staff didn't even greet us as... More

I researched for weeks to find a place close to most attractions. As you all know, hotels are EXPENSIVE! Red Roof was the best deal. Paid $109/night (with taxes, etc, came to about $123/night). For that price, I wasn't sure what to expect, seeing how it was in such a popular area and all the other hotels were charging $160+.... More

I stayed in room 1505 for 2 nights. It was the cheapest option for a good location at time of booking.... but it is really filthy. What a joke for housekeeper tip envelope in rooms given the floors covered in hair and crumbs. Even worse, I found a bed bug in my room. A male which I promptly killed, though... More

Stayed here for a mini family reunion. Great location for attractions such as Navy Pier and the Magnificent Mile. The staff was very nice. The hotel is showing it's age, but our room was clean. We were grateful to be on the 3rd floor as one of the elevators was not working that weekend.

Yes, this is relatively prime Chicago. Yes, hotels are expensive. Yes, this is a great location. Yes, the service was okay. And yes, the beds were fine. However...The bathroom was not. The price was not. We paid something like $230, and even living in NYC, that is overpriced. We can stay at a better best western for that money, or... More

My family and I came to this hotel to go see a Chicago Cubs game. The only good thing about this hotel is location. The hotel was dirty we ask the maids to change our sheets every day and they never once did. We ask for more towels that we never got, there are holes in the walls. They overcharged... More

Stayed at the red roof Chicago downtown 17th June 2016 for 2 nights, the location is excellent easy walkable to magnificent mile, shops, restaurants and bars. The hotel itself is tired and in need of renovation, the room we were allocated was adequate, clean and would best suit the traveller that on a budget wanting a centrally located hotel in... More

very nasty & stinky. Everything is rusted. The moment I stepped in the room it stank SO BAD!!! Cleaner didn't even clean the room, made bed or refill the towers but put a trashcan ON the bed. A TRASHCAN that she didn't even empty. And she dig our bag and stole the money inside of our bag. Worst comes after,... More

Neighborhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
