The hotel is gorgeous outside and in. The pool area especially is spectacular and unique. Before it was a hotel it was a historic athletic club. Location is great—one block from the River, and at the start of Magnificent Mile shopping district. Staff were friendly, helpful, and always greeted us with a smile.
The Intercontinental never fails. Service, as always, was impeccable from the front desk to housekeeping. An easy walk to the Navy Pier, great Chicago restaurants and, of course, shopping. We will find it difficult to stay anywhere else in Chicago.
All were good -- bell, parking, concierge, reception etc. The window wasn't very clean, but it was acceptable. There was a serious issue in the room though. Whenever guests above our room take showers, there is large annoying noise. It was so large that we could not fall asleep. The front desk offered a new room but we could not change the room because our baby was sleeping in the room. She woke up because of the noise, but we managed to let her sleep again after the noise was gone, so we didn't want to change the room. However this noise happened from time to time. They then offered me free breakfast, but I didn't want compensation but rather wanted the problem to be solved. For example, I hoped that they would find out the issue and fix it or ask the guests above us to take shower at a new room (e.g., by giving our free breakfast to them). They weren't able to take any actions before the engineers enter our room to diagnose the noise. This wasn't acceptable to me since our baby was sleeping in the room. Also, I wasn't sure what the engineers would do since there was no noise without the shower upstair. It was understandable that they did not want to bother the guests above us without knowing the exact issues. However I was disappointed that there was nothing else they could do simply because engineers could not enter our room. I was also disappointed that InterContinental had not notice this issue and fixed it considering the seriousness of the issue (the noise was really loud -- it wasn't just dropping water). I have recorded videos with the sound of the noise in case anyone from InterContinental wanted to watch it. Other than the noise issue, this place is recommended -- good location and service!…
The hotel is old - part of the fun - the check in was slow -the rooms lack a lot of Intercontinental features- slippers bathroom toiletries and while it is comfortable the staff are not over friendly-the girl in the bar was curt and they are all looking for tips - the great American way - I have long thought the employers should pay them a decent wage
Everyone at this hotel was amazing - so nice, top notch service, so pleasant and happy and willing to help. Fredy and Angelica were super fun checking in and out. Our room was beautiful and had a phenomenal view. Everything was walkable. I can't recommend this place enough.
My trip to this hotel was amazing really nice and comfy place a lot of space in some rooms you can see the Chicago river and it’s really close to Lake Michigan around saint Patrick’s day (witch is when I wrote this review) it’s really cool to see the green river out side your window. 🙂
Everyone was so very helpful, excellent service. Two minor glitches, the thermostat in my room while adjustable, did not really seem to have any effect, so it tended to be a bit too hot when sleeping, Yes I know, it was March and I complaining about too much heat! Second, the scent of the complimentary soaps was not very pleasant. The first night was okay, however my stay was for 7 days so perhaps the cumulative affect is stronger and not very pleasant.
Service, quality and cleanliness at the Intercontinental hotel in Chicago was impeccable. I have chosen to stay in a variety of different hotels in Chicago through the years, but the Intercontinental is clearly a cut above.
The Executive Tower is very quiet and the room was clean and comfortable - love the bathrobes! All staff members were friendly and offered to help. This has become our go-to hotel for Chicago weekend visits.
Love the hotel, location and the customer service was amazing! All of Chicago just outside the hotel door! Pool was a nice perk and I had a massage and facial at the spa. that was heavenly! Mid-level price range that is worth every dime. Michael Jordan restaurant convenient if you want to stay in.
