The Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago is lauded for its cleanliness and attentive service, with guests frequently commending the immaculate rooms and professional staff. While the hotel's location is a hit for those attending events at the convention center and its amenities, such as the fitness facilities, receive high marks, some guests feel the dining options fall short in both variety and value.
The atmosphere is generally considered welcoming, despite the occasional mention of dated decor. Room experiences can vary, with some facing issues related to noise and booking.

Detailed Reviews
The hotel is very convenient for events at McCormick Place, such as the Auto Show that we attended. A corridor connects the hotel directly to the exhibition spaces.
Our room was very clean and comfortable, with a really nice view; the decor in the room, and in other areas of the hotel, was quite pleasing. The bathroom, with a separate water closet that could be closed-off, was quite handy. The bathroom's décor was especially pleasing. Customer service (and attitude!) at the front desk was excellent. There are several dining options at the hotel; we used only the ARC Bar (for lunch), which provided Auto Show Specials that were a good value. The Market on-site has several food choices, as well as gifts, sundries, etc. Parking was available in the attached garage for $26/night, with unlimited in/out. We felt that the special rate the hotel had for the auto show was a good value, especially considering the convenience provided, and the quality of the stay.
This was our second stay at this Hyatt, and I hope it will not be the last!

We enjoyed our stay at the Hyatt McCormick while attending a volleyball tournament at the Convention Center. The hotel is connected directly to the convention center, which meant we didn't have to go outside in the weather to get to the tournament! We had a couple of special requests during our stay and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. The Market was quite busy in the mornings, but we discovered that Sixes and Eights had breakfast offerings for grab and go items! We had no complaints during our stay and would definitely return here if the opportunity presents itself.

I stayed in this hotel 17 years ago and liked it. Especially if you are doing something at the Convention Center. While the property has been freshened up, it is still timeless. I had a double room with a view overlooking McCormick Place Convention Center on the 28th floor.
The room was very comfortable in size, the bathroom had a separate tub and water closet area (it was a tad small, but it did not need to be large.) The closet was huge and had a large in-room safe in it, as well as a coffee maker, ironing board and iron and plenty of shelf space and hanging space.
The room had a in-room refrigerator, large screen TV and a fabulous view. The work desk area was great, though my chair had seen better days. The bedside clock was not set correctly for the time, 10 mins or so slow. the beds were made up with nice crisp white sheets and a thin comforter, there was one extra blanket in the closet, and when we needed another one, they brought it right up to us.
The hotel had all the amenities that you would need for a business hotel or even a weekend escape hotel. While it is not in the middle of everything, it was not hard to get anywhere if you needed to go downtown.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

We were there last weekend for the C2E2 convention and wanted to stay here because of it's location to the convention. Admittedly, the hotels in Chicago can be a bit pricey especially when associated with a convention and this one was but I was pretty disappointed in the room for the price we paid. We had a double room on the 28th floor. The view was pretty amazing but the room itself was a bit dated and worn. The beds were VERY hard which is good if you like that kind of thing but the bedding was ridiculous. The sheets were like sleeping between pieces of rubber for some reason. You couldn't turn over without the sheets sticking to you so you were wrestling all night with them. The pillows were HARD so if you go, bring your own. The furniture was all nicked up and scratched and really should be replaced. It looked like it hadn't been updated since the 80's. It was clean though and even though we weren't that far from the elevators, it was pretty quiet.
Check in was pretty easy even though there was some confusion over the valet parking which was an extra $54 overnight. The girl at the desk called to check for space and said there was room but the guy outside at the valet desk said there wasn't room but they took our car anyway. I don't know where it went but it worked out after about 10 minutes of back and forth. We got a late check out (2 PM) and since we'd be at the convention past that time, we were able to store out luggage at the bell desk which was really nice. People at the bell desk were very nice and helpful.
There are several restaurants within the hotel which was convenient and a coffee shop for in the morning but service was very slow.
It's a good hotel for the location because you don't have to go outside to get to McCormick Place but I think it's just a bit overpriced for what you get.

Very nice room, staff was disappointing especially AOM’s Zach & Marcus.
This sold out 1250 room hotel apparently believed that 3 (three) common area tables each accommodate 8 chairs total of 32 chairs close together seats back to back would suffice hosting a adolescent Volleyball Tournament.
Took handsome rates, but when questioned about the removal of all common areas for people to spend time, AOM’s advised me that the hotel couldn’t afford maintaining any additional tables.
Note: not restaurant tables requiring wait staff, just basic tables that have been here on prior visits. Maintenance would be a periodic wipe down due to Covid concerns.
They are greedy managers, only allowing people to gather in a bar/restaurant which was over crowded the entire weekend.
These Managers would not even let hotel guests spread out and utilize tables in a Ramen restaurant area after it closed. Marcus actually told us to eat “outside” food in the hallway that was constantly full of people entering and exiting the convention center.
God forbid a Volleyball team orders a few local Chicago pizzas and spend 20 minutes at a table in the closed restaurant. We were told that this activity would violate their food license… Marcus had an interesting approach on how this was enforced… let’s just say he was very selective in his enforcement, and my entire group felt targeted, possibly since these rules did not apply to every guest. We felt discriminated against.
Also, do not waste any additional fees for an upgraded room with a view of the lake… ours was a waste looking at convention roofs and barely a view of the lake to our left.
Just disappointed that a hotel would cut corners financially creating a unsafe clutter of people with nowhere to go.
People were sitting on the floor eating pizza. Absolutely ridiculous!

I realize Covid had a terrible effect on hotels. However, this 4 star hotel did not provide shampoo in bathrooms or toilet paper replacement. There was no room service. There was no open restaurant for dinner in hotel except for a bar with very limited bar food. Lunch was also at same bar with an Asian restaurant open for 3 hours at lunch on some days. This hotel charges $290 to $520 a night for a standard king room like we had. I stood in line for almost 30 min to buy a small Dasani bottle of water for $4.40 at their Hyatt market which was also the only choice for a breakfast sandwich unless you wanted to pay $28 per person plus tax and tip for breakfast buffet.

This hotel is very nice and conveniently located to McCormick Place. We stayed as a result of attending a charity event at the Auto Show. The employees are very cordial, helpful and knowledgeable from the doorman to the front desk clerks to the housekeepers. The hotel is well kept and the price was reasonable. The room was comfortable and quiet. We did not sample the restaurants, but we did have an appetizer and cocktail in the bar which was busy but the waitress was great and the prices were reasonable for a downtown hotel. My only complaint was that the cost of parking your car is outrageous and we were charged a higher price when we checked in than the price on the email confirmation that we received.

The hotel is wonderfully located for conference activities. The food/restaurant at the facility was good enough for work travel and the market shop was open late/early for snacks and coffee. The rooms and carpeting were moderately worn but serviceable. The COVID protocols meant that despite staying 5-days (4-nights) our room was never cleaned, sheets not changed or soap, etc. replenished. This led to a small mountain of garbage given the room only had two small garbage cans. The worst case was the last evening we spent in the hotel. Drunk guests were screaming, arguing and fighting in the hallway outside the room until around 2am. There was a Bears game the next day so that might have been the reason but regardless it was a terrible way to end our stay.

We all know Covid is difficult; cities have set up a range of mandatory measures that limit offerings at hotels, and business is still recovering so budgets are probably tight. However, if you are forced to stop providing Room Service, at least give me a few freebies (some snacks and water would be ok, not asking for more). If you are forced to limit the amount of times the room is cleaned, at least send someone to check on the waste and the toiletries...

Agree with the other reviews that the room is quiet and clean! However, there is a definite lack of hospitality where there is no room refrigerator, no coffee maker as courtesy and evidently you must pay 4.99 for a bottled water in your room( they pay pennies for) if you aren’t “elite”? Really?!! I can’t remember the last time I stayed in a hotel without these “basics”😭!! For a downtown hotel serving large meetings I find this sad and am very “ under whelmed”! Also the bed linens quite “stiff” as well as towels. Would not be my choice again. Must give a shout out for the very kind bellman who delivered our baggage and brought us 4 bottles of water!! Greatly appreciated!

Breakfast is not included with the room price.
The hotel is about 1 - 1.5 miles south of the natural history museum, planetarium and aquarium, and surrounding parkland.
depending upon your cuisine interests, there are various places to eat in the area west of the hotel.
but it is situated in the convention-hall 'green zone' that is McCormick Place.
The most cost effective way is the Blue Line L Train from the airport, but since it requires transferring to the Red Line & a 10-15 minute walk, it's not the most convenient, especially with small children. We often recommend booking a shuttle with Go Airport Express. It will most likely run about $50 for 2 adults and 2 children. Ride Share and Taxi's are also a convenient option, but prices can vary drastically.
Trip Advisor won't let me post a link, but parking rates are posted on the hotel's website.
