I love staying here. I love the rich history of the hotel as well as the location. The one great thing about The Congress is that the deposit is only 25 a night compared to other hotels in chicago. Some complain about the dated place, but I think it brings charm and it makes you appreciate the history of it. The staff is always amazing.

Hotel's Favorite
This hotel is in a great location near Grant Park, Millenium Park, Magnificent Mile, RIverwalk.....all within walking distance. Room was very clean, beds were firm, bathroom spacious enough, beautiful lobby. I loved the historical story behind its changes during the years. Walls were not real soundproof and we had to call security at 4:00am due to loud argument next door which continued the next night, but not as late. Felt safe in hotel.

I made a reservation for this month and had to cancel. Was charged for room and could not get refund. Was told there was something wrong with their system, call the bank , there’s something wrong with my credit card . Tart had no problem charging my credit card only giving me a refund. Staff were unprofessional and not helpful at all . The comptroller responded , I just work here and told me to call my credit card company snd tell them I didn’t recognize the charge. He literally told me to lie. I have never experienced such unprofessional and poor customer service . These people care are scamming big time .Avoid this place and these people.

My wife and I stayed at the Congress for a weekend getaway without kids. The hotel was beautiful. The Gold Room was amazing. The room was smallish but had a great view of the lake and park. We loved our room and the staff were courteous and professional. As we're not regular travelers, our standards aren't the same as frequent travelers so perhaps our viewpoint is skewed by our inexperience. Still, the hotel is close to several attractions (The Art Institute, The Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, etc.) which is the main reason why I picked it.
