My friend paid for my trip using his credit card, but had to go through many hoops to satisfy front desk.when I checked in the front desk person gave me a hard time because my address and my friends address were different, the clerk wasn't going to check in my daughter and myself because " he didn't understand " Then when... I had 28 hours in Chicago and needed a reasonably priced hotel near the Art Institute. The Travelodge fit the bill. It's basic ( no fridge in the room) but clean, staff were helpful and the location can't be beat.

We came to Chicago for the Rock n Roll Marathon weekend events. We selected this hotel for many reasons, price, location to trains, and location to start and finish lines for the RnR 5k and Half Marathon. We arrived early to drop our bags off while we explored the city and Jessica let us know that they had a room... More

Back in 2013 my wife and I stayed at this hotel. I gave a glowing review then and based on that experience we decided to come back again this year. What a difference a few years make. The renovations made the lobby look much more modern. We were very pleased to have our room ready despite our early arrival and... More

I've rated this hotel a 4 even though it is very plain, no frills. The location makes all the downtown very walkable. The room was very clean (and the bed comfortable). There are washing and drying machines on the ground floor which were inexpensive. Buddy Guy's is in the next block.

Plumbing pipes showing in the room was a perfect metaphor for this place. The room was so small we thought it was perhaps a broom closet that had been converted...badly. The fire alarm would go off any time we took a shower. When I informed the front desk he basically laughed about it and thought i should as well. However,... More

Staying in Downtown / The Loop

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.
