Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.

Dear Henry E, Thank you for your review and for staying with us recently. We're happy to hear you found our team to be "exceptional" and you liked our in-room amenties, including our large TVs. We're also happy you took advantage of our convenient location in the heart of Chicago's cultural mile. We appreciate your feedback as well and we want you to know our rooms are quite spacious compared to other downtown Chicago hotels. Regarding the internet, we connected with the team and we did offer a few different solutions for you. Some corporate laptops have firewalls that we are not able to get around and that may have been the case here. If you stay with us again in the future, we'd like to help further to ensure that you have a good connection. Regarding the urban fee, we do have this posted in advance of booking on both our website and the third party booking sites as well for added transparency. Thank you again Henry.

Good Day Matt H., I have searched our system to review this as this is something we at the Hotel Essex would definitely not do as double charging is indeed bad business. As from the post on TripAdvisor I can't tell what you last name is to make sure I am looking at the correct reservations. I want to get to the bottom of this for you as we do not want to double charge you for a stay you only had one room. Can you contact me directly by calling the hotel or emailing me at mgroszko@hotelessexchicago.com. Regards, Michael Groszko
