This was my second visit to the Blackstone (first was in Feb. 2015) and I had major issues back then with getting a cab to stop outside the hotel to take me to the airport. This time again, had transportation-related issues. You see, the Blackstone's parking is shared with the Hilton Hotel across the street. The rate was $65/night and included in/out privileges and the Blackstone front-desk scans your ticket at check-in to allow those privileges. $65 overnight is lofty but I wish I had just done the $79/night valet every night because parking myself was a massive headache... for little did we know but Sir Elton John had a concert at the nearby Soldier Field one of our nights there and it basically clogged up the Blackstone/Hilton parking garage with fans staying that night. So literally cars were parked everywhere in the garage, with little space to move your car through the garage and no spaces to park for folks who weren't there to see 'Bennie and the Jets'. We ended up parking on street temporarily and brought up this issue with the bell hop and valet and frontdesk and they said they couldn't do a thing about their garage being stuffed, and to just do valet for the night. Weird they wouldn't offer to pay the difference for valet, and I was not really expecting them to but it would have been a nice thing to offer someone paying $300/night at your ritzy/classy hotel. Anyhow, the next day again we went to park our car in the garage and found no spots and had to basically create a spot in the garage that was borderline legal. This is not the type of thing to worry your customers over! Seriously either raise your rates for parking so economics demand meets supply adequately OR just make valet cost the same as garage parking cost OR add more levels to the 7-level parking garage. Anyhow, I hate using 1700+ characters to talk about a hotel's parking, but it's a major issue in other reviews and I had a feeling it'd be an issue for us and it sure ended up being one. The hotel itself is very antiquey but still modern. The various musicians playing in the lobby in the afternoon during peak check-in is an awesome touch. The rooms are average though, you get marble floors in the bathroom and comfy beds/pillows which are nice but the sliding barn door on the bathroom is not cool, especially if you have kids who think it's funny to spy on you in the bathroom. Additionally, the doors to connecting rooms are not very well insulated as we heard and complained about our next door neighbor who was on his phone at 11 pm at night and quite loud well into the hallway. A quick call to the front desk didn't do much unfortunately as the gentleman continued his loud call for another 30 minutes. Additionally, you'll hear every car horn/siren/Sunday morning protest with Native American drums (seriously) going on outside (we couldn't see who was protesting though). So sleep was just okay, not great, at the Blackstone. Overall an historic hotel but an average stay overall, not sure we'll return next time.

Thank you for your review, our parking charges are in line with similar parking facilities. There are many other parking options around that you might want to consider in the future, however, the parking garage at the Hilton is the one we have agreements with and are able to validate.

I came to Chicago with my daughter to drop her off at an intensive with Joffrey Ballet. The hotel staff was very kind and accommodating. The front desk staff was always available to guide us with directions and dinner reservations. We found the room to be lovely, with a comfortable bed and nice linens. The bathroom was clean and spacious, with a rain shower. The hotel was close to her dorm but also in an area where we could easily walk everywhere. I will be returning in a few weeks to pick up my daughter and staying at the Blackstone again!

In writing this review I will preface by saying we are pretty brand loyal to two different families of properties; Marriott and their BonVoy membership being one of them. Obviously the perks that add up are worthwhile but primarily, we stay within the brand because we already know what to expect when we get there in terms of service and or the quality/tier of the property. So, as platinum members you can imagine how disappointed I was when my young adult son who checked in ahead of us, told me that the front desk was indifferent at best …but described their mannerism as passive aggressive. He checked in around 9 PM so late, but not too late. He was not provided any information about the club lounge which he should have had access to. Basically terrible service all around by the front desk. The positives? It’s part of Marriott autograph collection so it’s a style unto its own, lots of unique characteristics. Its location on South Michigan Ave. is close in proximity to the aquarium, planetarium and field museum. The beds were OK and the shower pressure was terrific. (I know some of you are looking for that information!) Will I stay there again? No, simply because the service was terrible and there are so many other options in this amazing city. But - the uniqueness of the hotel and its location if you need to be in the south loop, might make it a contender for you

We booked a room for 3 adults. They put us in room with one bed and said they’d give us a roll out. Then couldn’t give us a roll out because was a fire hazard then because they didn’t have one. They gave no solution apart from one of us sleeping on the floor!!!! Absolutely shocking service and apparently they have no manager or supervisor for you to talk to, so in the end we left and booked another hotel - the Hilton who were lovely and saved our day.

Robert, I am sorry you had such an experience as we certainly strive to accommodate every request. Our availability of 2 bedded rooms is limited at times, especially during sold out situation. We do need to follow fire safety regulation which doesn't' always allow to add roll away in a room. We faced a situation where we had no other solutions to offer for that night, and I am very sorry about this. I am glad you were able to find other accommodations for your visit. Once again, I am very sorry for this and wish to personally apologize for this.

Hotel overbooked and forced me to stay at another hotel! No complaints to the other hotel, but it was cheaper and further away from our desired venue. Front desk seemed remorseless and didn't offer any consolation for moving us. Avoid this hotel!

I am sorry you experienced this situation, just like many hotels and airlines, we find ourselves in an unavoidable situation where guests extend their stay longer than anticipated. This is not a common practice for our hotel and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Stayed five nights for a solo business trip. First time at this hotel and it was wonderful. The room was a bit dark and without overhead lights other than in the entry way. I was fortunate to have a partial lake view across the street from the Hilton Chicago. Close enough that I could see people in the other hotel. Paper coffee cups really degraded the experience. I was able to get a ceramic cup that I used instead. Would have liked some more shear blinds to let the light in and obscure people from seeing in. Other then that, the rest of the room and stay was great. Tiled entryway, solid wood doors and comfortable bed. The bathroom was spacious. Thoughtful touches were nice. Books, ornaments and glasses for the bathroom and in the room. Small fridge kept my drinks cold. Safe in the closet for valuables and bathrobe. USB and 110v outlet at base of desk lamp and also on top of clock. Location is very good. Near many restaurants and across from the park and close to lake.

Good location and quiet rooms in a beautifully restored old Art Deco building with exquisite detailing. Near the marina, park and a safe area just by buddy guys Unfortunately the rooms had a strange built in desk that took up most of the floor space and obscured both the fridge and cupboards so hard to use therefore rendering the storage space useless. The extra we paid for the executive lounge was not worth it, a grim little room with hardly any food and no alcoholic drinks

As a Titanium Elite member who pays thousands every year for benefits that should be afforded to me, my stay at the Blackstone Autograph Hotel was insulting to say the least. Please save your money because it is not worth the amount they charge! Every time we asked to utilize our benefits as Titanium Elite, there was always an excuse laced with constant inconsistency depending on the day and front desk employee. Eric at the front desk was rude and literally made up excuses as to why the lounge was closed on Friday at 2pm only to hide his laziness to not further investigate. He continued to his own lies and when challenged on those lies, deferred us to talk to the manager who was “in a meeting.” Maxine the front desk manager was no help until I forwarded my complaints to the general manager (Pierre), and even then insulted us with a measly 5,000 points to account for any dissatisfaction we had during our stay. When I pointed out the inconsistency in times, services, and amenities her staff at the front desk were perpetuating, she dismissed my challenges by just offering reassurance they would utilize my critic in training. It’s honestly insulting and based on the terms and conditions Titanium Elite members have under section 4.1 d, I will be taking this up to a higher authority. The Blackstone is better on the website pictures. The main lobby is outdated with gimmicky old fashioned gold trinkets placed oddly through out the room in glass container attempting to elevate the significance of the Knickknacks contained in them then there really is. The “art gallery” advertised was truly ludicrous and consisted of 4-5 paintings scattered around a hallway used more for conferences than displaying art. This setup was advertised as a main attraction to the hotel when it resembled a hallway laced with ammetur paintings one would see in a doctor’s office hallway used to elevate the room. There were no tours of the hotel available (as advertised on the website) due to staffing issues, our bathroom floor and metal around the sinks had rings of red rust or bacteria from surface level cleaning aside from deep cleaning. Please save your money and go to a more modern and updated hotel! The Blackstone for Titanium Elite members is a Ponzi scheme bc of the excuses and inconsistency in information we received every single time we attempted to utilize our benefits! It’s a ripoff and I want my money back. **Edit** I would have loved to see this same tone of courtesy crafted into this manufactured response to my own private correspondence with you (Pierre) and Maxine. Again, I am not sure why you guys keep skirting around the primary issue/compliant which was that my family and I did not have access to the lounge, which should have been opened on that Friday afternoon. Your employee Eric lied to us and when asked to accommodate us to this closure, in which members have that option under your terms of service 4d, he instead dismissed to the manager Maxine. Maxine also did not answer my direct request for reimbursement on the parking, gas, and money used to purchase coffee&water that should have already been provided as Titanium Elite. So to anyone who is a Titanium Elite, please be mindful you will not receive most, if any of the benefits we pay for yearly. It is ludicrous the ability this hotel has to constantly defer away from the primary complaint the customer has.

I do not recommend staying here if you are a Marriott Bonvoy Elite Member and wish to utilize your earned benefits. As a Titanium Elite member I requested a late check-out which was denied with the front desk agent explaining that they are not offering late check-outs to anyone including Titanium Elite members. The late check-out benefit is guaranteed for Platinum and above Marriott Bonvoy members, so I filed a report with Marriott and have not received a response from the hotel. Also during check-in, I was informed that both the restaurant and lounge were closed so I would instead receive 1,000 points for my elite welcome gift and 750 points for the guaranteed lounge benefit. However, once my bill was posted in my online account, the hotel did not provide the elite welcome gift or guaranteed lounge benefit points. This hotel does not seem to follow the terms and conditions listed for Marriott Bonvoy Elite Members. I would recommend staying at another Marriott property in Chicago to utilize your earned elite benefits.
