I loved the kitchiness of the hotel. Decor, music in lobby, and all the little extras. The make-up table with lighted mirror, the lights that come on with motion sensors, the yummy robe, mattress and pillows. I'm a huge new fan. Staff was helpful and very friendly, as well.
Virgin Hotels Chicago is one of the most fun and thoughtful hotels I’ve ever stayed in. There are many areas to relax in with a good vibe and high-end features. There’s a coffee shop with excellent espresso and tea drinks. Miss Ricky’s is the chicest diner, with the most amazing salmon eggs Benedict, or you can get Brekkie if you’d like a taste of the UK. The Commons Club has been closed during the pandemic but there is a sophisticated lounge and “funny library” on the 2nd floor for a mini getaway. The rooftop bar has indoor and outdoor seating, with a nice view over the city, and live music on weekends. There’s also a gym but we didn’t try it this trip. They’ve completely rethought the hotel room into a two-part chamber, making the space seem extra generous and adding comfort for couples not always on the same sleep schedule. There’s a robe, yoga mat and even umbrella as well as signature scented toiletries. The bed has an extra “seat” corner, the desk is flexible, and you can cast from your phone to the tv with ease (as well as other things). I slept like a rock, with my sleep app stats to prove it. (We heard the L train but it didn’t bother us at all, in fact it added to the city ambience for us.) With the Virgin app you can tip the staff electronically, super helpful. All within easy walking distance of the waterfront parks, Riverwalk, and so much more in the Loop. Right on the red line if you want to take the L further. Best of all, the staff are to a person friendly, efficient, and genuinely nice people. We hope to be back again soon! What a lovely place.…
Overall a great stay for me and the doggy! Loved that they were so dog friendly and didn’t charge extra for pets, huge bonus :) Rooms where comfortable, modern and clean. Nothing to complain about :) They were very close to the self parking area which made it great too.
Parking was easy, the staff were friendly and helpful without sounding "fake." The chambers were lovely and comfortable, and I was thrilled to have such high quality soaps and shampoos available. We didn't get to enjoy the amenities but we did scope them out and they looked amazing!
From the moment we checked in to the minute we left the staff was amazing! Chad greeted us and made sure our 10 year old son knew the best place to fulfill his sweet tooth. He also accommodated a special request we needed for our room. Our room was spacious but we loved hanging out in the common areas-playing games in the lounge and soaking up some sun on the rooftop. The hotel was walkable to sites and restaurants. At check out Billy made a special effort to get us to the airport on time. He was wonderful!
Had a 4 night stay with my girlfriend for our anniversary. Coordinated ahead of time with Chad (who was great) to make sure a few things were in our room upon our arrival (e.g., wine, chocolate covered strawberries); nothing was ready upon our arrival, despite other front desk staff having detailed notes ahead of time. We arrived for an early check in (coordinated ahead of time) after a 6am flight and were told the room wasn’t ready and an early check in couldn’t be guaranteed. After an hour+, we were given our room keys and I was asked to insert my credit card. No explanation of hotel procedures, amenities, check out time, incidentals charge, anything. Went to our room, which was missing all of the things I had coordinated and agreed to pay for. This was eventually brought up after speaking with front desk staff; at this point, the surprise was ruined for my girlfriend. Our bathroom ceiling was damaged, had water damage, and insulation was exposed (pic below). Our room was missing a few things (wine opener, bottles of water) and I was rudely told by someone at the front desk that I wasn’t looking hard enough. Ended up having these delivered by housekeeping because sure enough, they weren’t in the room. Our room keys stopped working on our 2nd day. We were given 4 total breakfast coupons over the duration of our stay to try to make things right. There were clear opportunities to, at the very least, comp the wine and strawberries that I paid to have set up prior and offer some sort of room upgrade. I expected much more for an almost $2k stay.…
Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. From checking in (Alex was great), to the room (very cool) to the awesome roof-top restaurant (food and drinks hit the spot). Looking forward to my next stay.
Perfect location, rooms and stunning rooftop! I'll be back! It was my 2nd time and I'm impressed again. For me the perfect combination between location, quality and price. I really recommend for anyone, business trip or to stay just in the middle of a great city to explore.
Great stay. Close to everything. Alex at the front desk was more than helpful. True gentleman. He helped make our stay a memorable one. Will definitely stay again. Thank you Alex Paul & Ann Marie Gagnon
A surprisingly comfortable and cute stay. The beds were the best of all of our stays here in Chicago, but they’re service, nothing but excellent! Billy made our stay friendly, easy and most enjoyable, he goes one step up to give you a happy stay. He upgraded our rooms at no charge, and gave us excellent restaurant recommendations. Took his time without making us feel rushed. I would give more stars if trip advisor had more
