We have stayed here on several occasions and always enjoyed our stay. This time we were on the 14th floor and had a view of Lake Michigan. The beds were very comfortable and loved the bathroom especially the shower. Michigan Avenue is a few blocks away and my favorite pizza is at Lou Malnati’s a block away. We will definitely return!
Thompson has the best location in Chicago, right in the heart of Gold Coast where the best restaurants, stores and rooftops are. Also really close to Michigan Av. Book a room with a lake view and high floor.
I recently stayed at the Thompson for a visit to family, we have stayed here several times and for the most part have enjoyed our stays. This time we had two meals from the restaurant charged to our room that were not ours. We noticed it after we had checked out, called the hotel and were assured the charges would be reversed - They were not, I hope the other party enjoyed the free meals and its too bad management could not follow through and take the charges off our bill!
I’m here right now. Arrived yesterday. Phone in room not working. Asked for someone to one fix it as otherwise we have to go all the way down to front desk to get any sort of service to the room. Have asked maybe 7 times now for someone to fix the phone. Still not working. Came back from the gym this morning to be told we had to change room because repair works needed to be undertaken in our room and we needed to vacate the room for this to happen. At the time this happened there was no apology, no offer of compensation, no offer of a room upgrade. Given keys to a replacement room of same category that stank of cigarettes. Offered a penthouse split level room which didn’t suit at all. Back in same category room on different floor. Phone also not working in this room. Have asked repeatedly for this to be fixed. Nobody has come. My husband requested ice at front desk when we just got back from dinner. Nobody came. He has just gone downstairs to the bar to get the ice. Absolutely unbelievable service. I have never experienced anything like it in the US. The desk in our room is wonky and uneven. The photo is of inside of one of the cupboard doors - disgusting. Tried to speak to management… nobody has offered us contact information. Reached out to GM on LinkedIn - no reply. Who is managing this hotel?????…
The Thompson Chicago was a perfect stay during our extended layover in Chicago. My husband and I loved the walkability of the location in such an iconic part of the city. It's a beautiful hotel and room, fantastic location, delicious food and excellent service. Highly recommend!
Personal vacation and was given peace and quiet. Bartender was more than helpful of any of me and my friends questions. Food was impeccable I had braised lamb shoulder, friend had oysters 2 different kinds, totelini I believe, and it was amazing.
We picked Thompson Chicago as the hotel to host our family and friends who were coming in from out of town for our wedding. It was fabulous! We stayed in their penthouse and our wedding party got ready there, the photos will be gorgeous, the staff was very accomadating and kind, the location is fantastic and everyone was thrilled! We loved the location which allowed for those coming from out of town to explore Chicago on foot! Thank you for helping to make our wedding dreams come true!!!
Great location.. other than that I regret to post that I did have an unpleasant experience. Decided to cancel a different reservation and pay extra to come here because the corner king room looked nicer. When I entered the room there was... as I can politely describe... a white substance from humans ALL OVER the couch, including a human footprint... it was absolutely disgusting and a health hazard. When I told the staff, they mostly giggled and asked if I wanted to send someone to clean it... of course I do... also, they didn't offer to swap rooms or anything. The smudges just got smeared in and remained the entirety of the stay, even though room service would come in regularly each day. I picked the room for the couch as I would be there for 6 days. I contacted the hotel the first day, if not the one after, and did not get a response about the situation until the day before I was leaving. There was really no excuse not to offer me another room at the very least. Especially since I went down immediately before unpacking as soon as I checked in. The hotel manager who contacted me was nice through the 1 email I recieved, but said he couldn't refund me (even though I didn't ask for one) because I booked through a third party website. I don't know if that is true or not, but I did ask if he would help me then in pursuing a refund through the third party. I got no answer, and it has been a week. I'm pretty sure they could issue me money back if they really wanted to... regardless of that, the white residue had no excuse. The not offering another room is also inexcusable. It was a health hazard and should have been taken seriously, but it was not. I am very disappointed as I never vacation much and that was supposed to be the nicest hotel I've been to. I paid over 1600 dollars for that and had to see the couch every day and not use it... I'm still going to push for a refund as I haven't been since I was awaiting a response.…
My recent stay was excellent. The staff were all warm and respectful. The hotel is located in a great area accessible to all shopping, great food and spirits. The Nico restaurant attached to the hotel, had great food, good vibes and courteous staff. I will be staying here again!
bathroom was dirty, view was just ok from corner room and unexpected charges on my credit card. I dont think I would stay here again. the location is alright but the parking was over priced by alot. charged me for a frig for my medication.
