We arrived late, found out that NO room service was available, we were tired and hungry, had nothing to eat until next morning. No place to buy sth to eat in the hotel! The staff was not friendly and could not care less! We wanted to go to the spa next morning, only possible via booking by phone, tried several times, nobody picked up😟 We planned to stay at Godfrey´s on our return back home- but will definately find another hotel. HUGE dissapointment!
The Godfrey was located in a good place in Chicago you could walk to places if you wanted or take their local train or bus which didn’t cost too much. We like walking so walked to most places about did use the transport on occasion. The only thing we didn’t like was they didn’t give you room service every day still going on as Covid rules which was a bit disappointing. Overall the hotel was great but didn’t have anywhere you could get breakfast you had to go out. There’s plenty of places nearby you can go. We went to Eadie’s which was one block away and the food was outstanding.
The hotel is quite well located, near shops and restaurants. Our room on the 11th floor was perfectly well appointed and was clean, with a rainfall shower in the bathroom and toiletries, sufficient storage, good aircon and windows that you can open. Also a fridge and coffee making machine. The check in staff were not of the same high calibre we had experienced elsewhere, but they were efficient enough and so there was no issue as such. The highly publicised outside space on the 4th floor is not open on Mondays and reopens at 2pm on Tuesday; that was a bit disappointing given we were only staying the one night - on a Monday!
Light switches didn’t work, no plugs / USB’s for phones next to bed, no snack / drinks shop - have to go out to the local Walgreens / liquor store if you want water in your room.TV constantly had “poor or weak signal shown for certain channels
The Godfrey Hotel Chicago is perfectly located at walking distance from many amenities and restaurants in downtown Chicago... Check in and check out are extremely fast. We stayed right after Covid lockdown reopening and minor issues were resolved by staff and management with extreme kindness and will to go the extra mile.
I formerly lived in Chicago and I considered the Godfrey as one of the better boutique hotels. Now that I've moved out of the city, I frequently travel to Chicago to visit family and friends. I recently stayed at the Godfrey in one of their suites and was pretty disappointed with the hotel. The room wasn't very clean, and there aren't any food options in the hotel. The gym was small, but, decent. The room, again, wasn't very clean, but, it was decently appointed. Overall, I guess I would stay there again, if the price was right, since the location is excellent. But, my expectations will be better managed next time.
Location is horrible, valet is a mess, the guy with the long beard as the gate keeper if the rooftop bar was rude and obnoxious $70 for valet is an absolute joke, waited a half hour every time we needed our car.
We loved staying here! We were in town for a wedding and the hotel allowed early check-in which was so helpful. We were able to walk to so many things like the river walk and Lake Michigan! We will be back!
Don't miss The Godrey Hotel in Chicago. It's well worth seeing and staying. Convenient located in the River North area, it's an easy walk to a many places in the area. Great views, well appointed and there's even a spa in the building.
Nice hotel, with a WONDERFUL staff and great overall service! Good location in the heart of downtown Chicago. One missing service offering was food delivery via room service. However, my experience was such that I would definitely stay again!
