We have stayed here twice now when we needed a place to stay in Chicago close to downtown. Both times were very good experiences. The hotel is located close to where we need to be and the we love the rate for breakfast and parking, we cannot find a better deal. The rooms have been very good, the beds and bathrooms are very nice. The restaurant is very good and the breakfast buffet is also excellent. Make sure to ask for a quiet room because traffic can be loud at night.
Was scheduled to stay at this property last week M-Th for business. My employer grounded all work related travel the Friday prior to my stay, due to COVID-19. In addition, I attended my grandmother's funeral the Saturday before. In the sudden cancelation of my work related travel, coupled with the death in my family, I forgot to cancel this reservation. I remembered on Thursday and called the hotel. Long story short, after talking to the front desk that Thursday, I was told nothing could be done. I asked to speak to upper management and was transfered to corporate. At corporate I was given a case number and told I would hear back within 48 hours. Sunday came and I still hadn't heard back, so I called the corporate line again, gave them my case number, and they relayed that this would have to be handled locally at the hotel by the assistant general manager...so, directing me back to the hotel. Corporate apologized for the lack of communication on this property's behalf and indicated that b/c they didn't respond within 48 hours that corporate would issue them a fine. On Monday, I called the hotel, spoke to a front desk employee who said, "let me talk to the assistant general manager to see what he says". After being on hold for less than a minute, the front desk employee relays that the assistant general manager can not do anything because they were holding the room for me. I expressed my confusion as to why if not a refund, a credit could be given, and wondered about the extension of empathy and grace given this unique situation. The front desk employee said, "I can transfer you to the assistant manager's phone, but I can't guarantee he will answer". I asked to be transfered, and of course, he did not pick up. I realize this is a hard time for the tourism industry and in the same respect it is a hard time for us all. This property's lack of compassion and inability to extend grace to a loyal customer astounds me. How they treat people now will affect how they are viewed in the eyes of not only myself, but the company I work for, and as a result, lost my business and that of my company at large.…
I truly love this place! It is located in an excellent area for food and we’re getting around the various places in the city I have to go to work. It has been my home away from home going on 15 years. Tonight, my usual greeters, other than the fabulous Jonathon at the front door, we’re not working. (I always get a bit anxious when I see new folks at reception). But the crown did not disappoint! I had the pleasure of meeting capital Kamil Rusnak at the front desk who took stellar care of me! All my amenities provided and then some. (Thanks for the upgrade to a suite Kamil). Polite, professional and authentic! Susan Evans Queen of the Crowne!
From the front desk to service at the restaurant and the cleanliness of the room and hotel itself was excellent. Plan to stay again when visiting. I have recommended to family. The hotel was conveniently located from the train station, stores I like to frequent and some of the best restaurants I got a chance to dine in. The room service from the restaurant was excellent. The food was great. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very clean with plush towels. I have spread the word on the affordable prices and how great we were treated.
Beautiful rooms with comfy beds and pillows. Professional and friendly staff. I asked for extra towels and they were brought up to my room immediately. Lovely view of the city - especially at night with the buildings lit. Hallstead is a main street with shopping, restaurants etc, all with walking distance. Do it!
