This hotel is in a great location in downtown Chicago - close to so much and easily accessible to whats further away. It is reasonably priced, clean and the customer service by the front desk staff (over the phone/in person) was absolutely amazing!
The hotel was beautiful and my room was very clean and comfortable. The view from my room was amazing! Also if you call the hotel they will send you a discount link for off site parking which is only 2 blocks away from the hotel. I enjoyed my stay and will definitely book here again.
We stayed for 4 nights during the Chicago marathon the facilities were perfect , room was very nice and the staff very accommodating. Great stay highly recommend. Was a nice touch to provide runners with essential foods on race day. We would definitely use again on a Chicago stay.
I have just returned from Chicago , staying in the above hotel. Having never visited this city , I was just going to see how it went Checking in and out with Ronnie was , even after jet lag , an enlivening experience, this man is a force of nature for whom nothing is impossible, I had read a few previous reviews that the interior was tired .... in a VERY small way that MIGHT be true but I found the entire building to be a perfect example of an grand old building holding her own amongst the shiney new structures It's location , a 10 min walk from O Hare Airport via the Blue Line Station stop at Washington Station on N. State St It's directly across the river from THE best River Boat Tour of the City , Wendella Tours Again , thanks to Ronnie any and all information was readily given to get around Also it is right across from the steps down to The River Walk in both directions It's NOT a brand new building NOR does it try to be itshouse keeping staff are just THE best , onobtrusive and so helpful I'd DEFINITELY stay here again and have no problem recommending it to anyone Shay N , 🇮🇪 12/10/22…
Have just spent 4 comfortable days here. From check in by the fantastic Ronnie such a nice guy ,to a quiet room ,which i didn’t think was going to be as we were at the front where we could see right across and up the river. You could hear the traffic but it just sounds like the wind we were on the 8th floor the traffic did not keep me awake .I could hear a tv slightly at 4 in the morning but again it didn’t keep me awake . There are only 2 things i wasn’t keen on the bed was way too hard and there’s no on-site parking they only do valet parking on a fri/ sat then they take it to a parking lot that you yourselves do about 2 blocks over they do validate the tickets so they cost slightly less i would stay here again
Great location but do not expect good service. Seems management does not care. Checking and checkout was great. Staff provided everything that was requested. There was no utensils, cutlery in the room although we had kitchenette. No bath soap in the bathroom. No extra towels. Little disappointed by lack of attention.
We have stayed in CQ Hotels before so we had an idea what to expect and hoped for as good an experience as in previous locations they operate. It wasn’t what we expected, partly to be blamed on the pandemic of course as the accommodations industry is likely still looking to recover from that , plus we are on the brink of recession (or it has started) The reception area focuses on self service and that’s ok. There is help for people who need it. Our room was small, quite cramped for $400 for two nights I think. We were on the 8th floor, in 808. There is no safe in the room, so think about that regarding valuables. The bedroom window was “frosted” and that helped with the fact that the view is of a wall lol We flew into the city and needed to iron a couple of shirts. There was a place in the wardrobe for an ironing board and iron, but it was empty. I tried the chat facility to get one but in the end I went down to reception to ask for it because we had a place to get to by a time. Power outlets are minimal. Bring an extension outlet with you! Also a 6ft cable if you like to use your phone in bed because there’s an outlet on one side only. Pillows/bed not particularly comfy but ok. The towels in the room are a little small if you are tall like us. I used the SMS Text message number to ask for a couple of towels and they did respond asking my name, but that was it. When we got back to our room they had not left us them so I went to reception to ask again and they were not long before they did then show up. The room has a coffee machine (Keurig) but of course there is coffee for two for one day. This hotel does not provide and room services unless requested. You have to ask, so two extra pods of coffee were requested at reception. There’s a fresh bean to cup coffee machine on the second floor. While waiting to use it today the milk ran out. Everyone was stumped by this and of course no staff around so I had a look and found a fridge with milk in. I changed the milk so people could carry on using it. Then it stopped working because the spent ground coffee needed emptying out. I did that. Then it started complaining the beans hopper needed filling. It was still half full so I stirred the beans and it started working again. It’s not a bad place to stay but it’s average at best so that’s why I say 3 out of 5. For all the work I did to get what I feel should be in a room for me, and for taking care of the other CQ Hotel customers in the morning, I really ought to be paid or get a discount!!…
The reviews on the elevator being out at the River Hotel are incorrect. They do have an elevator out in the Club Quarters section of the building that has two hotels. I was concerned reading other reviews about having long waits to the room. So as of August 27, 2022 both are working for the River Hotel. Our Superior River view room is nice, outside of the view of the hideous view of the Trump building. Not to be missed is the 24 hour coffee machine on the second floor. I will say when we got back with our friends from dining and drinks last night the did seem to be a long queue of disgruntled guest waiting for the single Club Quarters elevator.
We stayed for an anniversary trip and had a river view—which was breathtaking. The hotel staff were great, it was quiet and clean. Great experience overall. We were able to walk to many attractions and sites easily as well.
We were in town scouting hotels with high school friends for an upcoming reunion, and let me first say that the customer service we encountered in Liz and Ronnie was amazing! The location of this hotel is perfect, close to the river walk and transportation, so we found it very easy to navigate from the hotel. We had a lovely view of the river from one of our windows out of our tiny room. The room however was super small and one had to side step at the bottom of the bed, or crawl over the bed in order to get to the other side. The bathroom was rather small as well, but everything worked and the water pressure was good. The biggest problem was the fact that there was only one working elevator to take guests up to floors 11-35. We heard that the other elevator had been "out" since March. Not sure if that was a true story, but we never saw anyone working on it the entire time we were there. At times there was quite a wait for the elevator, and seeing we were on the 32nd floor, we didn't feel like taking the stairs. I did feel sorry for the staff as many times they were the ones getting screamed at because the guests were being delayed by the elevator situation. We will be returning for a reunion, but we will look for another hotel with working elevators.…
