I had the weekend to kill in Chicago and stayed in the Peninsular. The Z Bar at the top was great. Excellent cocktails and the 4 way Duck for dinner was amazing. Ask for the bin end/bottle list to find some good niche wines. A visit to the Dali exhibition was only a 10 minute walk.

Service perfection. Excellent room service food. At check in, they walk you to your room, a rarely seen experience. They called my room to ask how my stay was. Very well maintained and appointed room. Heavenly quiet property. Fantastic location... my favorite 5-star property in Chicago........ Go go go.

The Peninsula is the definition of true luxury. We stayed for our anniversary and everything was perfect. The room was beautiful and we had a lovely view of Michigan avenue. The soaking tub is the bathroom was a highlight. The pool and spa area are fantastic and we enjoyed using them for both days of our stay. What sets the peninsula apart is it’s extraordinary customer service. Everything you could need is provided - plush robes, slippers, umbrellas, water, the list goes on and on. Anything we asked for was brought promptly. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you are happy. Danielle was particularly amazing and made our trip fantastic. After a one night stay, we are customers for life. This hotel is well worth the price.

The room was luxurious and spacious with comfortable beds and great views. The service did not live up to it's reputation or 5 star rating. The room itself is all programmed on one screen for lights, tv, etc. It would have been helpful if the bellhop who brought in the luggage had shown us how it worked or told us about amenities in the room, like umbrellas that were in the closet and it was raining! Rather, he mumbled something and left. The staff at the front desk was not very friendly and certainly not welcoming. They did not smile and acted more like a receptionist at a law firm than a 5 star hotel. When we arrived there was a nice bowl of fruit. We ate 2 and the next day the pieces we did not eat was still there, and the next day. No replenishment. Same with the small box of 4 chocolates. They also did not bring 2 new dishes. They did bring ice when we called. The turn down service was not worth it. Basically, fluffed the pillows and left 2 drinking glasses on the night stand which we needed all day. This hotel is definately not worth the prices they charge. The pool was not working, nor the ice rink.

Loved every second at this hotel. Friendliest staff made us feel welcome. Great room with lots of love for detail. Very clean. Extremely comfy bed. Only small minus was that our room had a connecting door that was not well insulated. Involuntarily had to listen to many phone calls our neighbor had to take in the middle of the night. Nonetheless a great stay and we will definitely be back.

A lovely hotel and experience. Love when a hotel has a doorbell at each room! Room was great, Staff was great. Room service was just kind of meh, a nice setup and pretty, but lukewarm and nothing special. Beyond that, otherwise very excellent. If you walk west away from mag mile it’s a nice little area.

We decided to stay at the Peninsula as a mid-winter staycation. It was so glorious to be here, it is difficult to explain. It was seriously the best hotel experience I have ever had anywhere. Period. The place is absolutely gorgeous - bright and airy with exceptionally large ultra-modern rooms, but also elegant old world charm in the lobby and public areas. Outstanding electronics in the room - you can work comfortably in it. Great connectivity. Lunch in the lobby restaurant is excellent, and the atmosphere is calm and subdued for a work or pleasure meal. We can’t wait to have dinner at their Shanghai Terrace - rated one of Chicago’s best for Asian cuisine. STAFF. The best part of staying at the Peninsula is definitely the staff. We felt that every person we interacted with was caring, helpful, smart and genuine. Morgan and Gary at the Concierge desk had a way of suggesting out-of-the-way places that were unique, even to us, a couple who had worked downtown throughout our careers. Floyd and Edgar were terrific, taking us places in the hotel town car. Not only was it a convenient way to get around, especially in rainy cold weather, but they were so friendly I hate to leave. Seriously. And Joy and Courtney at the front desk repeatedly went out of their way to handle every detail of our stay. And finally, Issac, the front desk manager went so far as to buy us hearing assist headphones for the room to allow us to watch TV. What other staff at a hotel would go that far to accommodate guests? We’re so impressed by the Peninsula that we’ve decided to return again in a few months! And we will absolutely stay at Peninsula hotels elsewhere in our travels.

We visited the Peninsula to bring my nephew to the ice rink and enjoy a cocktail or two. I called ahead to ensure they had skates his size, and they said yes. After we valet my vehicle, we went up to the Sky Rink and they indeed did not have skates to fit - disappointing. Then, when I went to retrieve my car from valet the valet proceeded to to tell me a "small scratch" was on my car. When I looked at the vehicle, there is now thousands of dollars of damage into the car. I am very disappointed with how the valet and Peninsula management team have handled this accident, caused in their posession when valet was driving the car. For a hotel of this caliber, saying "it just happens" and "mistakes happen, we don't know who did it" is very frustrating. I'd highly recommend to not valet here if you truly care about your vehicle - because the Peninsula does not. We were staying at the Ritz where there is way better customer service.

Stayed here before Christmas and although the hotel is beautiful, we were disappointed. A big reason we chose to stay here was to enjoy the ice skating rink and it was closed pretty much the entire week; no reason given. The weather was great all the days it was closed and the concierge said they may open Friday, the day the weather was the worst. That didn’t happen. It’s frustrating when a hotel advertises something and then doesn’t offer it, especially the week leading up to Christmas.
