I live in the city so it was fun to be downtown and this is the best hotel in the city. 5 star all the way around. The staff all nice, great room that is very tech with all working thru an IPad. The in room dinner was also great, and the spa massage we booked was one of the best I have had.. and I felt safe and i and the staff did all the right things with mask and sanitizer. Suggest a stay here anytime. Thank you all the staff at the Peninsula.. The stay was last weekend. Ann
Excellent service staff for 6 stars hotel. Love all new decoration of main lobby, and room. Must see and check point for hangout at rooftop with 360 building view. All good for breakfast with a signature peninsula egg menu .
We live in Chicago and celebrate most holidays and special occasions at the Peninsula. We love their afternoon tea, sunday brunches, and shanghai terrace. Because we were not traveling for the holidays (COVID), we booked a staycation with our daughters for a night. I cannot recommend this enough.... we saw four people during our entire stay... they made the check in process super smooth (we were in the lobby for no more than 2 minutes checking in) and when we got to our room were amazed to see the warm welcome they extended to my children. Their names were up on the television welcoming us to the hotel, they made sweet treat plates for them, decorated the table with balloons and had toddler sized bathrobes and slippers for them. While most of the hotel was closed, we enjoyed a private swim (family swim from 10-12 and 4-6 everyday), room service, kids movies and a fun sleepover just the four of us. We plan to return after the new year and do this again a lot. They made our "staycation" unforgettable and the staff could not be more friendly and accommodating. Especially Vince Reyes... who went above and beyond.…
My 40 something professional friends and I went for a long weekend to the Pennisula in Chicago for a Christmas shopping trip. The second night we were there, we came into the room which smelled heavily of marijuana. We immediately called the front desk and they brought up an air purifier. They told us that they would check our locks to see if anyone entered the room while we were out. In the meantime, we also noticed that liquor was open in the mini bar. We had not accessed the minibar at all at that point. By the next day, we got a call from security that said they checked the locks and nobody had entered our room. We were baffled by how the smell got in there. After a day of shopping and coming back to the room, housekeeping reported that the smoke detector was missing. We had no idea that the plate on the ceiling in the bedroom where wires were capped off was where a smoke detector was. It was like that when we checked in but thought nothing of it. The next few phone calls were very accusatory and security in fact accused us of smoking marijuana and stealing the smoke detector. We were livid!! We told them to come and check our rooms and they would never find marijuana. They also said that they didn’t have photographic evidence of the smoke detector in the room before we checked in but that housekeeping had checked off that the room was up to par. Why would we call security to say it smelled like marijuana if we smoked. That makes no sense. After several phone calls with security going back and forth with is, I was charged a $250 “smoking fee” even though they don’t know who smoked and no evidence of when the smoke detector was removed. Take pictures and video your room as soon as you get there because they will try to accuse you and Charge you for things they say are missing. I will be disputing the “smoking fee” charges with my credit card company.…
I couldn’t recommend this staycation enough. They made one night feel like 100 and the cleanliness and safe factor was off the charts. 10/10. Highly recommend. Service is impeccable. Worth every penny.
