We decided to stay at the Peninsula as a mid-winter staycation. It was so glorious to be here, it is difficult to explain. It was seriously the best hotel experience I have ever had anywhere. Period. The place is absolutely gorgeous - bright and airy with exceptionally large ultra-modern rooms, but also elegant old world charm in the lobby and public areas. Outstanding electronics in the room - you can work comfortably in it. Great connectivity. Lunch in the lobby restaurant is excellent, and the atmosphere is calm and subdued for a work or pleasure meal. We can’t wait to have dinner at their Shanghai Terrace - rated one of Chicago’s best for Asian cuisine. STAFF. The best part of staying at the Peninsula is definitely the staff. We felt that every person we interacted with was caring, helpful, smart and genuine. Morgan and Gary at the Concierge desk had a way of suggesting out-of-the-way places that were unique, even to us, a couple who had worked downtown throughout our careers. Floyd and Edgar were terrific, taking us places in the hotel town car. Not only was it a convenient way to get around, especially in rainy cold weather, but they were so friendly I hate to leave. Seriously. And Joy and Courtney at the front desk repeatedly went out of their way to handle every detail of our stay. And finally, Issac, the front desk manager went so far as to buy us hearing assist headphones for the room to allow us to watch TV. What other staff at a hotel would go that far to accommodate guests? We’re so impressed by the Peninsula that we’ve decided to return again in a few months! And we will absolutely stay at Peninsula hotels elsewhere in our travels.…
This is truly one of the best hotels in which I have stayed. The service was friendly and unobtrusive. The Magnificent Mile suite has wonderful views and was a very nice size for 3 of us. Every attention to detail was made. All the business supplies, including a personal printer and fax machine was included. Large TVs and various lighting all controlled by IPad-like product. The large soaking tub even had a TV to watch and music could be played in the speakers in the bathroom. Felt safe. We ate breakfast in the hotel lobby. They had the same offerings every day. And we ate at Shanghai Terrace and that was very good. This was such a luxurious stay. We hope to return in December.
The Penisula Hotel is very great. When I asked a question, they answered very fast and politely, so I was satisfied and I think the service of this hotel was very good. I vote five stars and highly recommend this hotel.
We visited the Peninsula to bring my nephew to the ice rink and enjoy a cocktail or two. I called ahead to ensure they had skates his size, and they said yes. After we valet my vehicle, we went up to the Sky Rink and they indeed did not have skates to fit - disappointing. Then, when I went to retrieve my car from valet the valet proceeded to to tell me a "small scratch" was on my car. When I looked at the vehicle, there is now thousands of dollars of damage into the car. I am very disappointed with how the valet and Peninsula management team have handled this accident, caused in their posession when valet was driving the car. For a hotel of this caliber, saying "it just happens" and "mistakes happen, we don't know who did it" is very frustrating. I'd highly recommend to not valet here if you truly care about your vehicle - because the Peninsula does not. We were staying at the Ritz where there is way better customer service. …
Stayed here before Christmas and although the hotel is beautiful, we were disappointed. A big reason we chose to stay here was to enjoy the ice skating rink and it was closed pretty much the entire week; no reason given. The weather was great all the days it was closed and the concierge said they may open Friday, the day the weather was the worst. That didn’t happen. It’s frustrating when a hotel advertises something and then doesn’t offer it, especially the week leading up to Christmas.
I had high expectations for this hotel, and was not disappointed. The large room was comfortable and quiet, with every detail thoughtful and perfectly executed. The Shanghai Terrace features an outstanding Chinese menu (vegan options) with optional outdoor seating. The spa is a bit small — I advise booking a few weeks in advance of stay. The staff without exception demonstrated a commitment to providing an excellent experience, and this is what makes the Peninsula stand out among the many fine Chicago hotels.
What a pleasure to stay at a pricey hotel that absolutely justifies its cost. Such a rarity is the Peninsula Chicago. My wife and I booked it on the recommendation of friends and found that the experience lived up to their glowing report. Located on Michigan Avenue in the Gold Coast/Streeterville area of down town, it is convenient to shopping, dining, culture and entertainment. The building is imposing and perfectly maintained, our room comfortable and spacious with a fine city view. For all its physical comfort, the Peninsula's service is its outstanding feature: you feel like you are on a great ocean liner, cared for by a staff with great manners and eagerness to meet your every need. A treat in every aspect.
I have never posted a review before but I must rave about the service at my recent stay at the Peninsula hotel in Chicago. The staff was amazing. When I mentioned we were celebrating my daughter's 21st birthday then sent up a bottle of champagne, cake and chocolates. The concierge was beyond helpful with booking last minute reservations and tours. Everyone had a smile and simply could not do enough for us. Plus the beds and pillows and quilts were so so comfy! Also beautiful gym and spa. I look forward to visiting again!
Wonderful suite where you really get what you pay for. Space, quality, class, all there for the $$$$. Any time we needed something, they met and exceeded. However, being high up in the middle of Chicago, there was noise from sirens/ambulances and police cars constantly, all night, practically non-stop, I am NOT exaggerating. Add to that the show boating hot rod or motorcycle cruising Michigan Ave, it makes for a noisy night Friday/Saturday night. The other nights were less noisy. NOT within the hotel's control at all, but the only reason for 4 rather than 5 bubbles on experience. This hotel is a 5 star class all the way. The gym on the 20th floor is one of the best I've seen in a hotel. Well equipped, clean, and working machines! Thank you for a really nice stay.
I had stayed here many times. First after a long weekend for Labor Day. Then for some birthdays, special occasions, and New Years. But a few weeks ago got married here. It was AMAZING. Our friends and family raved at how amazing the service, food, hotel, and just overall experience was. This is one of the nicest hotels in the WORLD. In fact it was my boss who has traveled the world that told me this was one of the best he has ever been to. So on that faithful day many ears ago I brought my then girlfriend there for a long weekend (to try and impress her of course). Who knew that 4 years later we would be getting married there. I highly recommend this hotel if you are coming to Chicago or if you want to celebrate your big day. Jennifer from the Peninsula will make sure it's an amazing and unforgettable day.…
