The title says it all: I’m totally torn. I really liked the lobby/reception/bar area. Staff is absolutely fabulous!! At reception, the bar, cleaning: all of it really. The breakfast is really good and I loved the room: great bed, pillows, bathroom and room to work. So why only 3 stars? Had a connecting room (not sure if that had anything to do with it) but I could hear word for word the TV show my neighbour was listening to to the point it drove me insane: a shame really, as I really want to promote this place; everything else was just great and different. But why the thin walls/doors???

Lexi is a star! Her high level of customer service should be recognized by the management team! She went above and beyond to make sure that my status as a Titanium member was honored. I will certainly return to this property, It was also very clean!!!

Beautiful hotel located in the theater district, ask for a city corner view. Great service and centrally located. A quick walk to Millennium Park. Nice gym and friendly staff. lots of food options in the area, would stay again.

Cool hotel. Close to everything downtown, One block away from them the Willis Tower on Walker Ave, if you’re a Marriott person, and it’s reasonably priced for the location it’s right across the street from the JW Marriott. Has a very cool inside bar restaurant, it’s definitely a renovation, don’t believe it wasn’t built originally to be a hotel but they converted it from apartment/condo building ( looks historic and Gothic from the outside and they have it lit up in red color). I think the were rooms are fine , clean kind laid out strange due to the conversion, it had an old basic bath tub, but more space than I expected for downtown hotel. Friendly staff. 24 seven 7-Eleven across the street. McDonald’s on the corner with a walk up window and there must’ve been two Starbucks on either side of the block. They had free coffee. Can’t beat the location for the price. Two thumbs up.

Easy and conveniently connected to public transportation / and still a great state of the art hotel, enjoyed every moment of it, especially the breakfast was tip-top. Everyone was super friendly, and it felt extremely comfortable to be a guest of such a well nominated W hotel brand. Stayed at 507, which was a suite and it was definitely a lovely room.

Stayed here for a family wedding. The reception was held in the hotel and I have to say the cocktail area and the ballroom for the reception were both simply stunning areas of the hotel. The rooms felt a little tired and oddly set up. We had a giant room with 2 double beds (wish there was a 2 Queen option). With all the space, there was no bureau/dresser to put any clothes in and we had one tiny pleather chair where the cushions weren’t attached, making them slide off when you sat. We could have used a better chair and drawer storage. The staff was very friendly and helpful and it was a good location to stay.

I was here for a business meeting as a group and their conference and event staff were really great. The food and drinks were consistently flowing over the 2 days and the staff were highly attentive. The food itself was well prepared and was very tasty. Super high marks all around. The hotel itself was a bit of a mixed bag. This isn’t a true W. I mean it is, but based on comparisons to their W’s, this like a lowercase W. The rooms are spartan and the hotel is wedged between other tall buildings on every side. Meaning every room is dark without any natural light. The water pressure in the shower is non existent. Take a sponge soak it in water and then squeeze it over your head and body. That’s the water pressure. The hotel bar is a lively spot with live music and that was a great feature. The kitchen makes a burger and fries that far exceeded my expectations, like really spectacular. But then the avocado toast was a huge miss. With so many hotel options this wouldn’t be my first choice for a future visit, but if you wind up here, expect a few bright spots and a few dark spots.

Welcome back to W, RJPTexas. Thank you for sharing your pro-tips on W with the TripAdvisor community. As much as we would like to change what happens outside our walls, it's what's inside that we're most passionate about. Craft eats and drinks, the sounds of local acts, and a 'whatever you want, whenever you want' approach. If that isn't enough, stay tuned for news of a full re-design to our accommodations premiering soon. All the best, KYLE BRITTEN // Director of Welcome

Friendly helpful staff. Mediocre rooms but the real problem is if you end up in a room near the L( train which runs on an elevated track) the noise is literally unbearable. I had to change rooms it was so loud from 4am onwards.

We stayed here for a night just to enjoy Chicago and we had a very pleasant experience. The staff were more than friendly- particularly, Mohammad, the bell hop who helped us figure out where to park and where to go as well as Kyle, who checked us in. We'd had a horrible experience at a sister BonVoy hotel the night before so it was a huge relief to be treated with courtesy and consideration. The hotel is nice. It'd definitely not as updated as some other properties but our room was clean, pretty spacious and well equipped though we were a little surprised at the lack of a coffeemaker in the room. Nevertheless, as always, the W mattresses were a treat and the room provided us with all the necessities. The downstairs lounge/bar is very nice and comfortable and the location is great to get around most of the major areas in downtown Chicago. We enjoyed our stay a lot and would definitely go back!
