For whatever reason, I had the impression that staying at the W in Chicago would be a great experience. Not so much. The room was clean, and I felt glad that I was "upgraded" a normal sized room after reading reviews about the very small rooms. However the mattress was ridiculously soft and as a result the mattress pad and... More

"Minimalist glam" is how I'd describe the *aspirations* of this hotel. It has historical architecture with ornate details, matched with contemporary furniture and a very neutral/white color palette. I dig it. That said, I've stayed at other W Hotels (e.g. Montreal), and this one left a few things to be desired. First of all, the building is definitely historic, but... More

Beautiful hotel. The rooms and bathroom are very spacious. Everything was very clean and the sheets smelt freshly cleaned. The staff is very attentive and always around to answer questions. The hotel is also in a great location, within walking distance to several attractions, stores, train, restaurants and bars.

I've been staying here for many years and it is always really good. Had the fantastic suite so was large with 2 bathrooms , great bed and two flat screens! Food is good and lobby bar is cool and comfortable. It's a quiet W not like others. Good location next to many attractions that you can walk or uber.

Good location and service, along with great rooms that are good in size and very clean. The bathroom is a little small and somewhat inconvenient, but comes with Bliss toiletries. Overall had a very pleasant experience and would stay again.

We just stayed at the W Chicago for one night while we were downtown for an event at the Union League Club. The W is close to the Union League Club and had a special rate, so we decided to try it out and accumulate some SPG points. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and there was a... More

This hotel is placed in a nice location for sight seeing. Modern look and great taste for lounge. Rooms are ok looking. They look kinda like ikea. I prefer more luxurious tho. Staff are very helpful. Prices are reasonable for location compared with competitors. When searching online call hotel to compare prices sometimes hotel will match or be cheaper

Easy check in, stunning lobby, trendy room! I loved the sleep machine on the night stand. We spent a few nights at the hotel bar and enjoyed the drink selection. We had a perfect weekend at the W and we will be back!

This is a wonderful niche hotel with updated, modern rooms (Think 1940s with a Millennial vibe.) LOVED the sound machine next to the bed! The bar is a show stopper - take your husband, your lover, your gay friends - everyone will be comfortable hiding out here. Parking is pricey ($65 a nite) even for Chicago. DO NOT eat in... More

Staying in Downtown / The Loop

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.
