The Florentine at the Jw Marriott was awful in all respects. The coffee was dishwater. We asked for the $6 cappuccino. Brown, lukewarm milk of no resemblance to a cappuccino. Over cooked, tasteless omelet. Service just slightly less than rude.

Although the lobby is elegant the service is subpar for a J W Marriott. An example coming and going the doormen did not offer assistance with our luggage, offer to assist with directions or even greet us. The spa was lovely although wish it was open more than just weekends.

As you can probably tell, this is not my first visit to this property, but definitely my first time since the pandemic. It's been almost three years since my last visit, and I have to say it DID NOT disappoint. Check-in was very smooth (no more than 5 minutes), staff very professional; I was already in my room enjoying the amenities within ten minutes. Room was spacious and clean. Everything in the room was perfect. Had breakfast in the executive lounge (12th floor); typical stuff. Nothing to brag about. Heard that they have afternoon tea/snacks and evening happy hours; did not get to enjoy, so won't comment. I have to say something about the location: just absolutely perfect if you want to be in the financial district (the Loop); right in the middle of the district. If you prefer more shopping, then maybe you should look at properties over in River North. For my purpose, it was perfect! Overall, nice 2-night stay at a very nice hotel. Will definitely come back again!

The worst JW maybe of all time. Started with the staff. First time here and have literally zero interest in helping me understand the details of the property. They knew I’m a platinum member as well. There is no free breakfast or even coffee here. I get access to the exec suite on 12th as platinum, but that is crumby they don’t give free bfast or coffee for $450+. There are no signs in the hallways so you get lost. Eveything outdated. Thin walls and could hear my neighbors. Shower was old and outdated. The shower had no water pressure. There was no heat vent in the bathroom, so you turn up the heat and the room heats up but the bathroom is freezing . It doesn’t matter what the management team replies with, I’ll never stay here again. Was terrible, and like I said I’m a no boy platinum member

Had a blast getting in and out of this hotel for the weekend. I missed my flight so showed up Friday morning, used their app to access the room and joined my family. The lobby bar was great. Didn’t use it in the morning for coffee choosing a 7-eleven around the corner. I never got to the second floor Italian style restaurant. I had too many things going on. They have a spa, fitness center and pool below lobby. I used the elliptical but not the pool. Again not enough time. A friend used the spa and commented on it being overpriced. The room was comfortable and well appointed. Both shower and tub looked awesome. The shower had strong pressure and good temperature range. I really wish I had more time. The elevators were sometimes annoying requiring access cards and repeatedly selecting floors. The odd best part was accessing NetFlix on the TV. Worked 100 times better than hotel Wi-Fi. It was very helpful to chill before sleep. Given the hotel was within blocks of where I needed to be, the location was perfect.

Stayed in Adams Suite, 11th floor. From check-in, housekeeping, executive lounge, to check-out, staff members were more impressive than some of the Ritz and comparable to Asia/Middle East customer service - a delightful surprise. The room was recently renovated, so everything looked clean and great. Marble flooring, plush carpeting, etc. made our stay very enjoyable. The executive lounge also had a makeover, and now looks good. Food, I felt they were focused on quality over quantity - what they lacked in variety, they more than made up in quality (which is my preference). High-quality tea options. Can't go wrong with this hotel. The only potential downside may be that this hotel is not central to the active nightlife scene for those who enjoy such.

An amazing property, with great service. I was impressed with the level of "back to normal" I had there. The luxury suites are incredible, and the executive lounge was a full on service like the olden days of yore before the pandemic hit. The gym was insanely well appointed and the pool was warm and clean. At the front desk Viviana was outstanding, I was blown away, her anticipation of my needs and proactive actions when I arrived way too early for checkin were beyond expectations. In the Executive Lounge, Shasta, Elizabeth, Rod, Katie and don't hate me, but one other lady during evening service, was one had come to expect for the lounge. It's a world away from a world and they made it even more so. It really felt like old times.

I felt impelled to write today to express my appreciation of Katie Royce the food and beverage manager at the Chicago property. Being a lifetime premium platinum elite member, it takes a lot to impress me. I made a reservation for high tea with my niece visiting from LA over the summer. I asked if the server Anar I know and love was scheduled that day. She called me back and arranged for him to be there the day I had asked. This is amazing as during Covid I hadn’t been to the property in over a year and a half. When I arrived with my guest, Katie was there to introduce herself and welcome us. The executive chef also came out and explained our exquisite tea box items as well. It was so nice seeing the server Anar and catching up on old times as well as hearing about all the new things happening in his life. We really get treated like royalty from him and everyone there! It was such a nice experience and the fact that the executive chef personally created all the food items around our dietary exclusions was really amazing! We were treated like we were the only ones there and Anar even reserved the table that we like to sit at. This was above and beyond a 5 star experience! This was so personalized for me there was nothing more to add. Where high teas at other hotels are timed and the same old items, we sat at our leisure and no one was rushing us or suggesting we leave. The tea box items were unique one bring the salmon ceviche! I love the staff here and will continue to visit as much as I can! They earned my business for good! Katie, Anar and the food and beverage staff do not disappoint! I can’t wait for my next visit this spring!

The service, amenities, and standards at the JW Marriott Chicago are not at the level one expects of the upscale hotel brand. Anyone who has ever stayed at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House, JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur, etc. will be genuinely disappointed. The property is not 4 stars or 5 stars. When I arrived in a taxi with luggage, there was no doorman or bellman. Instead, I was greeted by a guest smoking marijuana at the front entrance to the hotel. That marijuana smell was always present in the hotel based on the kind of people staying at it over a weekend. Similarly, a nearby room was overly loud because there were 5 people crammed into a single room. They were obnoxious and berating the requirement to wear a mask. At the front desk during check-in, the front desk never addressed me by name, never thanked me staying, never offered me any assistance with luggage, or referred me to the two employees at the concierge desk for any assistance with restaurants, etc. They also never promoted their own restaurants, including the soulless contracted restaurant on the second floor. I later found out why. That restaurant is just horrendous. The lobby bar has better food than the hotel restaurant. Worse yet, the front desk lied about suite upgrade availability (suites were available). If that wasn't bad enough, the hotel tried cheating me out of my guaranteed Bonvoy benefits by refusing to provide breakfast in the restaurant as the executive/club/concierge lounge is closed on the weekend. Of course, the restaurant is open and will gladly sell you breakfast. They just won't provide what is required for free by Marriott Bonvoy. This is beyond unacceptable, especially since the hotel is managed by Marriott and not some franchisee. I addressed these issues and invoked the $100 compensation for not providing a compliant breakfast benefit with the front office manager. She moved me to suite -- the upgrade I should have received -- and offered compensation by way of a $100 food and beverage credit. As to the breakfast benefit and closed lounge, she blamed corporate and claimed they had an exemption under covid protocols without ever conceding that the property was noncompliant. I don't have any confidence that the hotel is going to start providing what is expected and required for all eligible Bonvoy elites. My recommendation is to avoid this property unless and until it complies with Bonvoy's requirements. It's just shameful that a corporate-managed property is acting in this manner. A guest shouldn't have to speak with the front office manager to get what is promised to them. If the hotel wants to be part of Marriott then they need to follow the program. Right now, the hotel is basically on par with a limited-service Fairfield or Courtyard. Many of the services and amenities associated with an JW Marriott or any upscale, full-service hotel have been removed and/or eliminated: 1) No pre-arrival email. 2) No turndown services. 3) No mini-bar. 4) No bellman/doorman to assist with luggage. 5) No newspapers. 6) No shoe shine service. 7) No robe and slippers unless requested. 8) No dental kit and no mouthwash. 9) The towels in the bathroom are worn and not plush nor luxury. They're Courtyard-caliber towels. The toiletries in the bathroom were a mixture of the usual JW Marriott brand and a lesser quality product from Marriott's Marriott brand. I assume the hotel is having supply chain issues. Besides all of these issues, I experienced basic cleanliness. There was excessive amounts of long hair in the bathtub from a previous guest. There were also crumbs and what appeared to be white hair on the sofa, and a hanger hanging from a wall painting's frame. Clearly, housekeeping is an issue. After reporting the hair in the bathtub, the front office manager personally came up and cleaned the room. Elsewhere across the hotel I saw food, trash and other items in hallways and other public spaces. Some of the carpeted spaces look like they needed a good vacuum cleaning. In the lobby's grand staircase there were half pieces of Christmas/New Year's Eve sugar cookies on the steps for who knows how long. It's pretty clear they are operating as bare bones as possible. If this hotel was a Courtyard, it would be perfectly fine. But it's branded a JW Marriott. It isn't even at the level of a Marriott or Sheraton. This is the JW Marriott in one of the country's best and biggest cities. It should be a lot better. Considering all of the genuine 4-star and 5-star hotels in Chicago, there is absolutely no reason to stay at the JW Marriott. This is a 3-star hotel in a historic building pretending to be something it isn't. There's just no comparison between this hotel and the JW Marriott Grosvenor House, JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur, etc. Worse yet, the management is cheating Bonvoy elites out of their benefits. There's just no excuse for that kind of dishonest conduct.

My wife, son, and I stayed two nights this week at this JW Marriott on Adams St in Chicago. Our post-Christmas travel plans had changed suddenly, and we were lucky to find a room at this hotel. We very much enjoyed our stay, and found the location to be very good, along with a nicely appointed, and very clean room and bathroom. The lobby was beautifully decorated for the Christmas holiday and we have no complaints at all about our stay. All the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. I'd recommend this place to anyone!
