Best location, Luxury as you can expect from Waldorf Astoria. World Class hotel in Chicago. Convenient to shopping, dining, and site seeing to the best part of Chicago. Always welcomed at this hotel. You'll love it too!
Beautiful hotel and lovely amenities. The lobby is small and discreet, and the rooms are nice and comfortable. The bed is heavenly and the soaking tub a great way to unwind after a long day being a tourist in Chicago. They don’t have coffee makers in the room, instead they have complimentary coffee and tea service through in room dinning. Housekeeping team is top notch! The room was thoroughly clean and the daily service done to perfection. My only complain is that I had to leave :)
[Comprehensive hotel review] This was our first visit to the Waldorf Astoria in Chicago, IL. My husband & I stayed for 2 nights mid-week & used free night gift certificates. Unfortunately, we had to book the two nights at different times & the same room type was not available for both nights. I immediately let the hotel know & was advised they would try their best to place us in the same room type to avoid having to check-out, store our luggage & check back in. Thankfully, the hotel graciously combined our reservations & thanks to being a Hilton Honors Gold member, upgraded us to a King Premier Terrace Room for both nights of our stay. Due to certain room types being oversold, we were upgraded a second time to a Gold Coast Terrace Suite. ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: Despite arriving a couple hours before check-in, it only took us 15 or so minutes to get settled in. ROOM: (see above) We were assigned room #2602 on the 26th floor. • Amenities: Microwave & mini refrigerator (stayed very cold!). Notes: 1) There is no ice bucket or machine, but you can request ice via concierge text; 2) There is also no coffee or tea maker in the room or lobby. You must purchase these drinks. • Bath: Large, well-lit w/ his & her sinks. Shower was a disappointment - the temperature fluctuated wildly between luke warm and scalding hot & pressure was weak*. There's only one hook* for towels, but there is a towel bar in the toilet area. Note: If you want a soaking tub, be sure to ask the front desk prior to room assignment. • Bed: Surprisingly, not very comfortable. Bed and pillows firm & bedding scratchy*. Beds at say a Holiday Inn Express are much softer. • Cleanliness: Immaculately clean • Décor: Classic. We absolutely loved the one-touch fireplace & dimmable lamps. • Heating/cooling: Worked well • Sitting area: We enjoyed having a table to eat at & sitting in front of the fire to watch television • Sound: Very quiet; no sound from other guests • TV: Clear picture & decent selection of channels • View: The view from terrace was absolutely incredible! • WiFi: Weak WiFi & cell service (T-Mobile) CUSTOMER SERVICE: Top notch! Especially the staff out front (e.g. tracking down our Uber, opening doors, etc) & the concierge staff. We especially loved being able to contact the team via text! Super convenient. FOOD: As a HH Gold member, one of the benefits of staying at a Waldorf property is a daily $50 food & beverage credit for 2 people. We placed our breakfast orders each night before. Delivery was on-time. Meal #1: One slice french toast, one omelet, two slices toast & ice water. No coffee, juice or tea. Unfortunately, the team messed up my omelet* by putting in onions, which I explicitly noted on the order form "no mushrooms or onions." My husband did love the french toast though! For reference, the cost was: $65.99 including all taxes, fees & gratuity. Meal #2: One bowl berries, two chocolate croissants, one glass OJ & hot tea w/ lemon. Unfortunately, the OJ was not fresh squeezed. The berries also needed washed & chilled. For reference, the cost was: $53.01 including all taxes, fees & gratuity. Tip: There's a Walgreens directly across the street where you can pickup drinks & snacks. HOUSEKEEPING: Requested basic service (empty trash, make bed, remove used towels) via text. Completed before 1:00 PM. LOCATION/PARKING: Safe location. Parking not needed. OTHER: • Alarm: The alarm in our bedroom went off both nights at midnight. A prior guest must have set it, but we couldn't figure out how to turn it off (hence it went off again on the second night). • Car service: Did not use, but available (within 1 mile of the hotel) on a first come, first serve basis from 5:00 - 9:00 PM. • Late check-out: We were offered check-out as late as 2:00 PM; we stayed until 12:15/12:30. • Shoe shine: Complimentary; dropped off a pair at the front desk around 9:00 AM on Thursday. Returned sometime before 1:00 PM. • Spa: I enjoyed a 60-minute massage (ask for Abby!) & soaking my feet in the hot tub; my husband enjoyed complimentary use of the hot tub, lap pool & sauna. Total cost for my massage & tip: $228. • Turndown service: Did not use • Welcome amenity: We received a delicious plate of complimentary macarons. Thank you! Final thoughts: Keep up the incredible customer service! There are however, a few minor areas in need of improvement*, chiefly the bed/linens & water pressure. Would I recommend? If it's within your budget, yes! It was a real treat to stay here.…
My family stayed last October and throughly enjoyed our visit. Lovely room, with plenty of closet space along with a beautiful bathroom. The smell when you walk in is the best! Small lobby with very few places to sit, found that to be out of place. Concierge was very helpful making reservations. Lots of shopping and restaurants in close proximity.
Saw a major improvement in property since last stay a couple years ago. Felt more like the original Hotel that gained so many awards back in 2010. I have a special place in my heart for this hotel…had our wedding reception here when it was the Elysian. Have come back for our anniversary every few years and have seen a lot of changes. Initially it was the best, then the Hilton takeover caused in our opinion, it to become more corporate and less special. This particular stay felt more like the hotel we love and remembered from our wedding. Bernard’s cocktail lounge was open again! This was huge to my husband who couldn’t believe it was ever closed to use for corporate space upon the Hilton takeover. That has since been reversed and reopened with same name and ambience. Yay! Thank you. Also they have closed the pastry shop, Margeux that had occupied the lobby also upon the Hilton takeover. Yay! Instead they have replaced it with a cute lounge called Peacock where u can get a bite and a glass of wine. Regarding the room, they were not able to upgrade us for our anniversary, a bit disappointing since we are HH Diamond but whatever maybe they were seriously full. They didn’t accommodate a view either but we survived and they brought strawberries and a bottle of Chandon to welcome us. The hotel is still beautiful, has smaller spaces and doesn’t have a lot of hang out spaces. They weather was gorgeous, had we had a room with a terrace it would have been A+ but since we did not we found ourselves hanging in the circle drive, the only outdoor communal space in the hotel, people watching and reminiscing about our wedding day. Great memories and happy to see the property back on track for that Elysian feel.…
Amazing amenities all around - from the time of check in to check out the service was 10/10. The spa, the rooms, linens and service were all great. The spa is one of the most beautiful in Chicago that I've been to. We stayed in a King Suite and it was so spacious and the views were unreal.
Loved this hotel. Service was excellent. The smell when you walk into the lobby takes your breath away. They sell the scent in the spa which is onsite. We are at the restaurant on the property for dinner. The fish and lobster pasta was divine. The drinks were even awesome. We had a nightcap at the lounge in the hotel. We reserved a king suite with a private balcony. Gym and spa onsite.
We were graciously upgraded to a beautiful suite with a fireplace and terrace. The hotel is lovely, and all the staff from the front desk, to the restaurant, the spa, and the front door were kind and helpful. We were able to enjoy sightseeing, dining, and shopping in walking distance from the Waldorf Astoria. The first night we walked to the Oak Street Beach and then ordered a take-out dinner from the hotel restaurant to eat on our balcony. We also enjoyed the pool and the jetted-spa area. My husband's favorite part of the experience was the Nespresso machine and complimentary espresso pods delivered to our room. We'd highly recommend this hotel for a weekend get-away
The waldorf is the perfect spot to go when it comes to hotels, all the luxury shopping is near you, they have one of the greatest spas when it comes to hotels, and there in house resteraunts are amazing!
Excellent service and amenities! All the staff were very helpful and the room was wonderful. The hotel restaurants were excellent and there’s a speakeasy hidden on the second floor. The spa and fitness center were huge and had everything you’d need. Definitely lived up to five star rating!
