I rate this hotel as a three star but know that it has very good parts and not so good. Let’s start with the pros: Clean, modern, great fitness center (this is atop an athletic club). Both breakfast and lunch menus and food were good, healthy options. Bar has a sufficient choice for everyone. It was wintertime so we didn’t use the outdoor pool, but I suspect it is fun. While not in a tourist area, it is in a good location if you need to stop by a store to pick up something you need or forgot. Staff were friendly without exception. Rooms have ample space and everything you need. The rate is reasonable too, even with the $25 daily resort fee. In room coffee was good too and there is a small refrigerator. The cons: not a place for rest or quiet. The beds are very firm, too firm really to feel comfortable. I found myself tossing around quite a bit. On our first night, we awoke at 3 am hearing the workout room below. Someone was really jamming and they no doubt had a good session. It was loud enough that I could recognize each set. I mentioned it to management the next morning and it didn’t happen again. The gym is closed until 5 am so it was odd. Other reviews note this and I know that we were not dreaming. You can hear a lot of noise between rooms as there isn’t much acoustic dampening, but our neighbors were quiet once they got settled. Our friends stayed on the 5th floor, one floor up from us. They didn’t have the noise problem. Maybe you want to ask for a room on floor 5.

I had two of my sisters stay in the hotel at my recommendation. It is lovely and the gym is very nice - I am a member. HOWEVER, THERE IS ONE HUGE PROBLEM!!! If you are on the4th floor, the noise from the area below is unbelievably loud. It started at 3:00 am and went until the exercise class began at 5:00 am and built from there. When my sister called me I could hear it on the phone! The worst part was when I called (I am a member) main desk on before their 2nd night of the stay they insisted IT DIDN"T HAPPEN!! No apology, no "I'll check it tonight" seriously, a condescending person named Joshua Dailey basically told me he thought it didn't start until 5:00 am....which wouldn't be acceptable either - but it was as if that was ok ?? Do not stay here if they can't guarantee 5th floor rooms!!!

Hello AmyBCooper, Thank you for your feedback. We hope you will accept our sincerest apology for this recent experience and wish we could have addressed these concerns during your sisters visit. I am very sorry for the noise interruption as well as any miscommunication from our team. Rest assured that we take feedback very seriously and this has presented us with a retraining opportunity with our team while this is not the level of service we aim to deliver. In hopes of making amends, I would like an opportunity to have your family return for a seamless visit. Please contact me directly if I can assist you further. Sincere thanks again Amy.

You stay at this hotel either for it's excellent Midtown location or because you love playing tennis, pickleball, working out, doing yoga, Pilates, jogging, swimming, weights...you get my drift. If you want a great location and the ability to workout without ever leaving the building in the raw Nov. weather, this place is for you. The restaurant is excellent. Service from front of house to housekeeping is on top of their game. Our stay was very enjoyable. We will stay at the Midtown again.

We’ve seen hotels with good fitness centers attached, but at Midtown it’s the other way around, and it works beautifully. The hotel is on top of s multi story fitness center. We picked the hotel not because we were going to pump iron or work up a sweat, but because it was a convenient hotel to visit family located in the Near North area of Chicago. Our room was very modern, sparkling clean, large, and quiet. Service and welcome were excellent. We will definitely be staying here more in the future. The only thing that keeps me from giving the place 5 stars is the lack of charm of the neighborhood, an expanse of car dealerships, grocery stores and a Costco. If you are looking for a place that you can wander down the street experiencing the best of Chicago restaurants and nightlife, this isn’t it. But if you are looking for a place convenient to Near Northside activities or visiting friends or family in the area, you couldn’t do much better. Parking is “free” (or, included in the near ubiquitous “resort fee” that so many places hit you with), and the hotel is right off the freeway. We didn’t have a car but Uber availability was very fast. And if you are a fitness freak this place is definitely for you.

Although we live in Lincoln Park, we chose to spend the first few days post full knee replacement at this Hotel. We wanted to avoid going up and down the 4 fights of stairs in our home. What a great decision. This hotel is of the highest caliber with a wonder staff willing to accommodate our needs. I don’t want to leave. Many thanks for making my surgical recovery much easier.
