Detailed Reviews
I rate this hotel as a three star but know that it has very good parts and not so good. Let’s start with the pros:
Clean, modern, great fitness center (this is atop an athletic club). Both breakfast and lunch menus and food were good, healthy options. Bar has a sufficient choice for everyone. It was wintertime so we didn’t use the outdoor pool, but I suspect it is fun. While not in a tourist area, it is in a good location if you need to stop by a store to pick up something you need or forgot. Staff were friendly without exception. Rooms have ample space and everything you need. The rate is reasonable too, even with the $25 daily resort fee. In room coffee was good too and there is a small refrigerator.
The cons: not a place for rest or quiet. The beds are very firm, too firm really to feel comfortable. I found myself tossing around quite a bit. On our first night, we awoke at 3 am hearing the workout room below. Someone was really jamming and they no doubt had a good session. It was loud enough that I could recognize each set. I mentioned it to management the next morning and it didn’t happen again. The gym is closed until 5 am so it was odd. Other reviews note this and I know that we were not dreaming. You can hear a lot of noise between rooms as there isn’t much acoustic dampening, but our neighbors were quiet once they got settled.
Our friends stayed on the 5th floor, one floor up from us. They didn’t have the noise problem. Maybe you want to ask for a room on floor 5.

. Parking is free. Staff is.great. Hotel is modern and super clean. I would not say here again due to excessive noise.from amplified exercise class starting 8am. At 1 am we could hear the conversation clearly and loudly through the closed room next door and sounds from above not sure from what. If you get up early and want to exercise in superb facilities and put on headphones or ear plugs to sleep you will love this hotel. Good hotel coffee. Sit down food area closed due to COVID but nice snack bar available. Desk took off my resort fee when I complained about the class noise. I should have done my research better.

Recently visited with my husband as we wanted to stay close to my Sister in Law who lives in Bucktown. For us it was absolutely perfect, a comfortable and spacious room, (we asked for 5th floor after reading reviews of noise from the gym) and some goodies left by the staff once they heard about a close bereavement we had experienced. Only downside is no breakfast included however there is a great cafe downstairs with lots of options.
The service was great, friendly and helpful in the cafe, the spa and in the gym.
The facilities are incredible, as this is primarily a health and fitness club with members and has a number of hotel rooms. Massive pool and sunbed area, pool bar, huge terrace on 6th floor and every fitness class and equipment you can imagine including a massive yoga studio, reformer pilates studio, dance studio, and a massive gym! All the classes are free to guests and there is everything you could possibly imagine and you don't need to reseerve just turn up!
If you like to exercise this is the hotel for you.
We will definitely be back!
Location wise was perfect for us, however if you're looking to go downtown every day sightseeing this is not for you. Equally if you're not keen on fitness I would avoid as this is the main purpose of Midtown.

First off, there is no parking for people with disabilities. See photos. Then, there is no signage indicating the location of the “lobby” (when entering from the parking lot). Expressed my displeasure with the hotel manager who ran the desk when I eventually found the lobby 15 minutes later via crutches. She made a snide comment when I commented on the lack of handicapped parking. She then assigned me to room 431, which is the room FARTHEST from the elevator on the hotel floor. I then had to trek back to reception, where they magically found me perhaps the one accessible room (404). When reserving the room, I informed the hotel that I had limited mobility due to crutches. Received email confirmation that they could accommodate me. They did not. Far from it. When I checked out, one hotel employee, let the door slam on me as I struggled with luggage when leaving. The only 2 employees who were actually helpful were Henderson, who arranged a luggage trolly and should be managing the hotel, and Andrew, who was a health club employee who should be managing the operation.
All this for $400. This has no business pretending to be a hotel. And if I owned this hotel, I would fire the manager.

Thank you for your feedback and choosing Hotel at Midtown as your Chicago destination. We would like to apologize for not meeting your expectations during recent visit. We take our guests' concerns with full responsibility and will address signage for our guests in order to best assist with finding the right entrance. We are showing that room booked was deluxe king with a corner view which- there's only one room in this category which is located on the corner of the building, reservation wasn't confirmed as accessible by Booking.Com-travel agency used to create this booking. Hotel at Midtown doe have a unique concept which caters to specific traveler, Hotel is anything but ordinary- we apologize if this wasn't disclosed prior to your arrival and set specific expectations.

Great staycation! I went there for the weekend and it was fantastic. Love the styling of the rooms. Stayed on the 5th floor and could not hear any of the gym noises, well I could barely hear it but only if I really tried to listen for it. It was really just normal hotel noises. I was worried after reading some of the reviews, and even brought a noise machine and ear plugs just in case but I did not need them.
I had a mani/pedi and a massage at the spa and all were great. Check in was a little chaotic with all of the gym members but nothing horrible.
Great food and friendly staff, I would recommend this hotel.

Terrible experience. We booked a hotel not a stay in a fitness club. The hotel reception has the looks, feel and smell of an entry hall to a public swim hall. The bar and restaurant on the second floor is busy with sweaty people relaxing after their workout. Glad we found a nice bar 2 miles away for dinner. No included breakfast either. Parking garage drew us here with our classic car, but it is frequented by all fitness club members so it’s semi public. Only positive was the room.

Thank you for your feedback. While we appreciate you choosing Hotel at Midtown as your Chicago destination we must say that transparency regarding our hotel is clear on every website we are currently listed in order to truly communicate that hotel is not a standard accommodation but a property designed for guests who don't enjoy basic hotel amenities but sees full value of Luxury Fitness Club they have full access to. Parking garage is a 6 floor, gated and secured with cameras location, as most garages parking privacy cannot be guaranteed while availability is always there, most if not all hotels in Chicago has issues with parking availability while our hotel supplies more than sufficient amount of. We apologize for not meeting your expectations but it seems as if your expectations were for standard hotel which our isn't.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel in Midtown because it was near the apartment of our son, who was ill and needed our help. The hotel was great. Our room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Having access to the fitness center was a plus. I especially liked that the hotel restaurant had lots of healthy dishes on the menu. I particularly liked the farro salad and the shrimp salad. But best of all was the staff, especially in the coffee shop and at the front desk. They couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. We would absolutely stay here again.

Hotel at midtown was our official wedding block hotel and they absolutely blew it out of the water! The rate savings, the service, the amenities, the food, and the rooms were 5/5 stars, couldn't ask for a better hotel! The amenities are better than 99% of most people's country clubs/ fitness clubs, I highly recommend Hotel @ Midtown for events or just a normal stay! Oksana was the best to work with, Highly, Highly recommend.

This was our second stay. We always pick Midtown when we’re in town. It’s right next to BuckTown with many restaurants and bars within walking distance. There is also a small food mart beside the store to pick up snacks. We had a very nice sized room with a view of downtown Chicago. Nice bathrooms with plenty of water pressure. If you’re into exercise, this is the place for you. Pools (in and out), tennis, paddleball, equipment, and on and on. The building is primarily a sports facility. All the staff was responsive and friendly.

I had an AMAZING experience at The Hotel at Midtown Chicago. From the hospitality to the amenities to the comfortability, I would definitely stay here again! It is a great benefit to be able to use their beautiful resort-like fitness center as well. The biggest difference is the people, who all made me feel at-home and welcome.
