Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.

This wasn’t anything over the top but for the price you can’t beat it. The location is perfect, the room was small but clean and the business center if you need to work was the best I’ve seen! They had fruit, chips, breakfast bars and drinks available including cappuccinos and coffee at no charge! We will stay here again.

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION - so this place is in the middle of all the Chicago goodies. Maybe this is just the perspective of a tourist and I can't speak for parking or ease of driving but for my fellow proud and lazy cheapskates who still enjoy some class, public transit outlets (the L, buses, subway, etc...) are incredibly easy to get to from here. We were fortunate to get a room with quite the view, but I would imagine it would be rare to have a room without one since it's smack dab center metropolis. THE PEEPS - Every encounter we had with the staff was pleasant, the people here are professional yet chill, and had some awesome recommendations to satisfy the cringey tourist while also tossing in some hotspots to allow us to attempt blending in with the locals. I'm a sucker for some solid Midwest hospitality, and by Billy Bob George ya'll done it. THE PRICE - This is most definitely one of the highest quality stays i've enjoyed for the lowest price. Full disclosure, we booked through Expedia, and this room had just what we needed for plenty of nights out. As far as I've seen, they do not include fridges and microwaves, but don't be a ninny. You're in the city with a variety of world famous top tier grub, plus the price of the stay provides the opportunity to go out and treat yourself. 37/10 would definitely stay here again. As should you :)

The Central Loop Hotel is a very decent, affordable hotel located in the Loop. Room was very clean and the hotel has everything you really need. The room is a little on the small side, but for the affordable price, I could not complain. Not a 4-5 star luxury room with all the renovations and bells/whistles, but very clean and a modern boutique touch to it (I did find a very tiny spot/stain on one of the sheets, but the replacement sheet the next day was completely clean). The only reason for docking 1 star is that there is really no information about any of the hotel amenities. On check-in, they let you know the location of the gym, but that is about it. I know hotels are going away from having big booklets in the rooms that describe all the amenities, but many provide at least provide a small index card that list the basic amenities. I had to Google to find out the following: that the irons/ironing boards are located in a central closet in the hallway, that they have a complementary wine tasting at 5pm on weekdays, the restaurant that provides room service (how to access the menu- which is through the TV), wifi information, etc. I would doc another half a star because the bed was not the most comfortable that I have experienced (although I have lots of back/shoulder problems). For the average person it would likely be fine, so I won't doc a full star. Overall, it was a great hotel for the value though. I was between 3-4 stars, and decided to round up.

Full disclosure: I love Chicago. This was my third trip in the last fourteen months, this time with a specific mission: to bunker down and write the first chapter of my Chicago novel. For this purpose, I needed a location in the heart of the Loop, as close to the Financial District as possible (check). I preferred someplace quiet (check), friendly (check) and with access to stores, restaurants and supplies (check, check and check). To my astonishment, the Central Loop Hotel far and away EXCEEDED my wildest expectations throughout my stay. It began with greetings by three of the most pleasant employees I have ever encountered. Danny, Luvina and Laure chatted awhile with me, asked me questions about my novel, went to the trouble of discovering if there was anything that might make my stay more enjoyable, and then followed through with such kind and touching gestures that I immediately became a fan. As for the room, I found it to be just what I love most: a comfortable bed; solid, wood furnishings; a pleasing bath with modern fixtures; a high-def, flat-screen, wall-mounted TV that I of course wouldn't be watching (-: and floor-to-ceiling drapes to banish the light of day. For this pricepoint and location, the Central Loop Hotel goes so far beyond the norm that it boggles my imagination. Thank you, Danny, Luvina and Laure for making my stay memorable, and reminding me yet again why Chicago is my favorite place to be..

Location is short walking distance from Union Station and conveniently located to other attractions, shops, and dining. Staff was pleasant. Service was good. Room was clean but nothing extraordinary. Overall good value for what you get.
