Horrible customer service. Watch out for Cooper at the front desk. He is rude, disrespectful and taunted and antagonized myself and my husband after an interaction we had with him while we were trying to resolve the issue with the front desk manager. The most amazing part about it was he acted like that in front of his boss and there was no repercussion. Given the $450 a night price tag of this place I would expect better. Will never be staying here again.

Response from Edgar Navarro, General Manager at Hotel EMC2, Autograph Collection
Responded 1 week ago
Good Morning Ms. Anderson: Thank you for staying with us, and our sincere apologies that the current City of Chicago indoor masking guidance negatively impacted your experience with a team member at the front desk. Our front office manager informed us that you had the opportunity to connect yesterday, and you were able to come to a resolution regarding the interaction. We completely agree with you that the situation should have been handled more tactfully. If your travels bring you back to Chicago, I hope you give us another opportunity.

Nice hotel in a central downtown area - within a 10-30 minute walk to just about everything you'll want to do downtown. Not as nice as River North, but very reasonably priced by comparison. Room was nice and clean and of average size. As mentioned by others, the shower is in the center of the room and is glass. There is a curtain you can pull around it but if you aren't very close to your travelling companion this will likely be uncomfortable. They have 2 "robots" that can bring items to your room as needed, although the Alexa integration (send me toilet paper) didn't work very well and we got waters instead. The biggest issue we had with the hotel was with the dining/drinks. They have a nice restaurant called the Albert, but it is closed most of the time. If you want an after dinner drink on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, or after 9 on the weekend, forget it. If you want breakfast on a Monday or Tuesday, sorry. In addition, it wasn't always open even for the very limited time it was supposed to be open. We tried to order prebatched cocktails one night at 9:30PM and were told that wasn't a possibility. The one day we did eat there was decent, but the menu is extremely limited and the staff seemed very inexperienced. I'm sure they'll blame COVID, but none of the other places we went had any obvious issues. Note that there is an Aloft across the street that seemed to be open all the time (food/drinks) and a pub at the end of the street that was fun. It is also worth noting that there is a hospital down the street, so you will hear ambulance sirens several times a day, For whatever reason, it wasn't bad at night and didn't keep us up.

Hotel EMC2 went above and beyond to provide great service to me. Erika from management was so kind. I loved the robes there so much that I reached out and I bought one that she shipped one to me that I couldn't buy online anywhere else! Very modern, tech forward and fun, swanky hotel that I would surely revisit. Thanks again Erika!

We stopped by at a last minute decision, hoping to experience the open spa bathroom from floor to ceiling and the room we got did not have the open spa bathroom as displayed. The room we got is across from the elevators which is probably why bathroom design may be different as well as structure of building. Quite unfortunate, however, the room is clean, roomy, good bed, and design is beautiful.

Unless you travel alone. You should consider this hotel, because the bathroom is a voyeur style, it does not have privacy, you must take the bath in front of everyone, it has nothing elegant or modern, it is more of a cheap style to save money and gain space in the room.

Response from Kevin O'Neill, Guest Services / Front Office at Hotel EMC2, Autograph Collection
Responded 4 weeks ago
Thank you for your recent stay with us and this review elskate. We do apologize if the room style wasn't your preference. Our bathroom does have a voyeur design style, but each room is equipped with a designer privacy curtain that does cover the entire bathroom and shower for privacy reasons. We do apologize once again if our hotel style wasn't what you were looking for. For future reservations, we recommend booking one of our sister Marriott properties.
