unsanitary and terrible stay at your hotel. I asked for new sheets and shockingly uncovered the nastiest mattress I have been sleeping on my entire pre-paid stay $557.45 plus $200 for parking. night parking. This hotel made me sick sleeping in unsanitary diseased. I was moved to another room but this doesn’t make up for my experiences at all and unknowingly sleeping on a "contaminated bodily fluids and what appears to be blood stains on the mattress. They covered this with sheets and a mattress pad. I had slept on the bed contamination for at 3 nights and became sick. They then transferred me to suite which was unclean room as well. The new suite room had soiled carpeting, large holes in the drapes, and shades room the paint visibly peeling on ceiling, holes in drapes. Front office manager Alisha was unprofessional, rude, unkind and aggressive flatly stating the hotel experience was my fault and how she didn’t need to see any of my pictures of the room. Below is the disconnected corporate information Alisha front desk manager purposely provided for me as she refused to refund my stay. phone 630-325-0661 SBYEN 806 York rd Hinsdale il 60521

Hotel's Favorite
I travelled to Chicago for the first time from Spain. I stayed at The Whitehall twice, once in April 2022 and once in May 2022. This hotel was in a great location. It was clean and it met my needs. It felt secure and I felt safe walking the streets at night nearby. The staff were very friendly and helpful and check-in on each occasion was very fast. There was everything you could need around this hotel. This hotel will be my place of choice each time I visit Chicago. In fact, I am returning in August and placed a new reservation yesterday.

This was an amazing place to stay close to everything and very great customer service. We will be back to enjoy this experience again. The parade route was right around the corner. Restaurants were very nearby. Planning our trip for next year for this same place.

The reviews are so varied for this hotel, from fabulous to horrible. My sisters and I stayed this past week for two nights and have nothing but good things to say. Yes, it isn’t “modern”, but it has incredible charm. The employees are all very helpful and friendly. The location is wonderful too. We walked everywhere and felt safe and secure.

Without a significant renovation and upgrade, I will not recommend this hotel, and will not return. It is very outdated in the rooms, worn down, electrical plugs outdated, lamps, furniture - all is old and decades behold in comfort! Walls are crumbling behind wall paper, bathrooms old and worn. WI-FI was not working and they never fixed it. Corridors dark, and all worn and light is cold and impersonal. Curtains falling off the wall!!! This might have been nice in the past, now it is not living up to price and standards, it is easy to get better alternatives around. I give the hotel 2 due to friendliness of staff, and because it was clean.

~The whitehall hotel Illinois downtown~ Nice hotel, good experience… The hotel location is perfect. The staff was really nice but the rooms could be cleaned every other day (toilet, carpet) and at-least have a kettle… was all good. Alicia at the reception desk was so nice, friendly, welcoming and helpful.

The staff, particularly Alicia, was extremely helpful to us first time visitors to Chicago with recommendations on things to do and how to get there. The hotel was older, but clean and in good working order with one of the fastest elevators I've come across getting us to and from our room expeditiously. They did not have ice machines on the floors, but the staff was very quick to respond to requests for ice and linen. I would certainly come again.

I stayed here 5 years ago for a couple of nights and loved it. The location is great, price was fine and the rooms offered everything needed. Returning back to Chicago 5 years on I didn’t even research other options but wish I had. Location still great and the staff were all very polite but accepting that this is a historic hotel, the place now looks quite tired. Biggest disappointment was that there was no housekeeping which we were told on check in but having to make our own beds for a 4 night say was not what we expected on booking. Covid was cited as the reason and we were offered new towels if we wanted them but 5he bed making wasn’t offered also coffee facilities had been removed so our only option was to have to buy coffees from the restaurant or nearby Starbucks. We are on a tour of the US and this was our first stay Other hotels since have all had coffee facilities and housekeeping. All in all not the worst experience we’ve ever had but I feel that better and cheaper options would have been available. 5 years ago I think the hotel had a better rating and I wish I’d paid attention to the current rating.

Actually worse than a Super 8 or Motel 6. This is not an exaggeration. This hotel’s ONLY redeeming factor is its location. Let me run down the list: the lobby looks like you’re checking into a halfway house, and not one of the nice ones. The clerks are actually in individual cells… I mean, cubicles… with plexiglass sneeze protectors in front. At first glance I thought it was bulletproof glass — that’s the vibe the lobby is giving. The clerk told me that they “aren’t doing housekeeping during guest stays.” Also, no room service. After check-in, I hopped onto one of two available elevators, both equally filthy. Let off in a dark, narrow, musty hallway. Made my way to the room… where everything was falling apart. Holes in the sheets. Peeling wallpaper. Faux leather disintegrating off all of the furniture. Chipping wood on all the tables. But I was there, so I tried to make the best of it. When I turned on the TV, none of the “cable” channels worked. They said they’d send someone to fix it — it took 20 hours for someone to come up. I called the front desk to ask if they sold/had bottles of water. They said that they didn’t, but would send up a pitcher of water and ice. Two hours later I threw a coat on over my pajamas and went out to buy water. An hour later (three hours after I called), someone came up with a 12-oz carafe of tap water. As if the bathroom didn’t have taps. Tried to go to sleep… and then the heat came on. It sounded like somebody was jackhammering behind the wall. “Pipes banging” doesn’t even begin to describe the volume. I finally got so frustrated that I turned the thermostat down to 55 to make sure that it didn’t come on again during the night. I literally have nothing positive to say about my experience here. If you pay more than $75/night for a room, you’ve been robbed.
