We stayed at the Hotel Blake during the last week of July, 2021 and found it be an excellent hotel for a visit to Chicago. Located in the 500 block of Dearborn St., the hotel is very convenient to trains and busses, as well as being within walking distance of many sites. The staff is very friendly and helpful on directions and restaurants recommendations. We found “Showtime” to be particularly helpful and always engaging. The room itself was well appointed and very comfortable. We had a refrigerator, microwave, and a personal safe. The cleaning staff was also friendly and efficient. The bathroom was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. All in all, we would recommend the Hotel Blake to anyone traveling to Chicago regardless of your length of stay.

I’ve stayed at the Hotel Blake a couple of times, and was pleasantly surprised at how modern and clean it is. Their recent renovations look great, and feel more high-end than a traditional 3-star hotel (and even some 4-star hotels). The rooms are spacious and the bed is very comfortable as well. Not to mention, employees are very welcoming and mean well. I have to deduct one star because of the poor service I received on my most recent visit. I arrived at around 2:30 pm (check-in is 3), and was told my room isn’t ready. Completely fine, since I was early. I asked if I should come back to check in at 3, and the front desk clerk told me it would be “more like 3:30 or 4” and told me they’d let me know as soon as it’s ready. I had nowhere to go, so I just waited in the lounge. At 4 pm, I was now officially annoyed. I paid for a full night, and they were now an hour late with no indication my room would be ready any time soon. I waited in a long check-in line to find that my room had been ready for awhile but they just didn’t contact me. If I wouldn’t have stood in line again to ask, I could’ve been waiting around all night. Super annoying, but whatever. Then on the second night of my stay, I got a call from the front desk at around 9 pm saying there was an AC leak in the room above me and they wanted to get in to check mine too “just in case.” I was already undressed and in bed, so I asked if it could wait until morning and they said fine. I get that things happen, but this did not seem at all urgent enough to disturb a guest at night. There was no leak in my room. My only other slight annoyance was that during both of my stays, I found a spider in the curtains, and during my most recent stay there was also a fly zipping around the room all night. Not the end of the world, but unappealing to deal with. I think the windows must have cracks that let in bugs. However, the room was very clean otherwise. Overall, I’d recommend the hotel. It’s a good value if you can deal with a few potential inconveniences.

May I first say give SHOWTIME a raise! He was the most welcoming & personable doorman! He made returning each evening just to speak and say hi 👋🏽 to him something to look forward too. The room we were given was roomy and well decorated. The fact that we walked to everything gave us a great reason to eat and enjoy all the nearby restaurants. We definitely will be returning.

The hotel was clean. Staff were very friendly. Great location. Within walking distance to almost everything that the downtown offers. You do hear the street traffic, but that’s because it’s in the city.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. It is within walking distance to many restaurants, Millenium Park, the Art Institute and transportation. The doorman, Showtime, was super friendly and very helpful with directions and recommendations. We felt very safe walking to and from the hotel. The restaurant serves FANTASTIC breakfasts (Meli Cafe)--so good that we ate there multiple times during our stay.
