Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.

Hotel's Favorite
We recently spent six nights in a suite on the Gold Floor. The one bedroom suite was large, spotless and very well laid out. There was even a dining table that seated four people. The living room was large, with a comfortable sofa bed. There were enough chairs for relaxing, a wet bar. Everything was was very clean. There were large windows that opened throughout the suite. Two evenings, we were able to watch fireworks from our room. In addition, there were separate air/heat controls in the living room and in the bedroom. The bathroom was large with a separate tub and shower. There was even a small, retractable clothesline over the tub. Outside the bathroom, there was a separate vanity with a lighted mirror. The bedroom was also quite large. However, it is the service that sets this property apart from their competitors. Every person not only did their job, but were friendly, welcoming and gracious. Bravo to the housekeeping staff. They were excellent. The Gold Lounge had a lovely spread for their varying food presentations. My husband loved their fancy espresso machine with its varying coffee options. He was so happy to be able to make the decaf coffee drinks. In the Gold Lounge, Mugi, Patricio, Abraham, Cody and Mandana are just some of the most outstanding people that I have ever met in a hotel. They were knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming and king. A special thank you to them for their kindness to my husband who is a stroke survivor and uses a cane. Over the years, due to family commitments, we have traveled to Chicago numerous times. I have finally found a hotel that will be my "go to" site for any future trips. Their restaurant was too noisy, but the food was good. However, you can order the restaurant food or the room service menu to your room. The room service was outstanding. The server set the food up on our table. There was even a little flower. One day, I must have sounded hoarse while ordering, The food arrived with a teabag and a short note from "Renee" who had heard a little soreness in my voice and thought that the teabag might help. I have stayed at a number of domestic and international five star hotels, including Fairmonts, and this was a first. This is truly a return to the golden age of hotelier service.

The staff here are phenomenal. They went out of their way to make our stay great. Staff went above and beyond to help with random odd requests. Mandana in the gold lounge made my son very happy and really seems to take pride in her job. We enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at the Fairmont Gold due to an unexpected travel delay. I was traveling alone with kids and everyone was tired, cranky and frustrated until we arrived at the Fairmont in the heart of Chicago. A beautiful hotel with touches of old-school grace and modern updates. Staff was gracious, kind, down to earth and personable. We had an exquisite room, plush and lovely decor, and in the morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet in the Gold Lounge which I highly, highly recommend. Patricio, our host in the Lounge, was absolutely wonderful and took such great care of us. He even recommended local attractions for us to visit near the hotel while we enjoyed our stay. He made our visit a vacation-worthy experience and was a real highlight. Definitely will stay at this hotel again and now look forward to our next visit!

The best at this hotel are the welcoming greetings at the door. The rest is very average. The restaurant personnel were quite welcoming as well. The location is quite convenient to the Millennium Park, Bean sculpture, the Art Institute of Chicago, etc.
