Staff was very nice. Could not get the phone answered at the desk or the valet at check in on Thursday at 4. Adjoining rooms were convenient. The decor is tired and needs to be refurbished. Marble on the bathroom floor was badly cracked and chipped. The black wallpaper in the bathroom had white marks in a lot of places. The TV's were not 4K. I used my laptop instead. The food in the restaurant was good, but the chocolate sorbet had freezer burn. I had a glucose meter kit and it disappeared. It was in the nightstand and when I went to use it it was gone. I am home and it is not here either. I don't know what happened. If it was pinched they must have needed it, and they can have it.
My mom and I stayed at the Omni during our mother/daughter getaway last weekend. I checked many of the reviews beforehand and was pleasantly surprised with the number of recent positive reviews. Mine is no different. We arrived about 1:00 and were immediately able to check in. We were given a king suite on the 24th floor (of 25) that had a great view of Lake Michigan from afar. Room was spacious and clean. The staff always greeted us, whether it was the front desk or valet staff. We were provided with a few great restaurant recommendations as well. Great location to be able to walk most anywhere, or to catch an Uber and be in most neighborhoods in a reasonable amount of time. Would stay here again.
Nice hotel, a little outdated for the 4 stars, but not much tho. I would expect to have at least microwave and some real mugs in the suite, but there’s only small fridge and Keurig machine which is kinda last century now. I would put nespresso ones and some ceramic and glass cups. The suite was pretty clean and comfy. Staff is very nice and professional.
First off this hotel is in a great location if you want to be on the Magnificent Mile. The doormen are really helpful and professional and generally the staff are all that way. The room we had could use some serious updating. The beds especially seemed old. The rooms are very dark and could use some lighting. The room we had had a bathroom with two doors. Only one had a lock which isn’t necessarily good for a family. The TV connection kept going in and out, but it was raining and windy so maybe that was the cause. My biggest issue was a noise issue. They gave us a room next door to rooms being repaired. We were there for R&R and not business and we were woken before 9 one morning. The hotel offered no accommodation but to move rooms, which was ok but since we were leaving for an early flight the next day it didn’t make sense. The breakfast and restaurant and bar were nice. The gym was very satisfactory. Most likely will stay somewhere on next visit to chicago.…
For the rate, this was a very good hotel. Great Location and wonderful service. I loved that the rooms are suites. So, this early riser could go out in the living area to read without disturbing my slumbering partner. I liked that the hotel had a bar where we grabbed a drink and watched an NCAA basketball game. The restaurant had a very limited menu but then again, one does not come to Chicago to eat in the hotel! However, the room was showing its age as far as maintenance. The lights in the closet and sink vanity mirror were burned out. The tile in the shower had some mold, the wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling, and the sink had a crack. Worst of all were the sliding doors into the bathroom. They did not roll well so were very loud when someone had to get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. But despite these limitations, I would stay here again.…
The hidden resort fee which adds up if you stay a few days ruined our stay. Nowhere did we see the fee when we booked even after reading the fine print. There was no break down when the total charge was advertised after booking. Upon investigating, we discovered that not all hotels do this. The ones that are hide that fee by calling it a destination fee, or Urban Fee. These fees are nothing more than a trick to grab more of your money. It should be illegal or stated!!! The hotel tax is almost 20 percent now in Chicago so this add on fee makes your rate go way up. What's even more illegal is that many of the services are not available with the pandemic. Still the fee. If you are a tourist from out of country please make sure you are aware this is going on. Buyer Beware!
Honestly, I wish I would have taken a picture of the room, but I didn’t. Our room was dated with a large vent cover nearly all the way off and vibrated any time the heat came on. There were several small winged insects on the living area blinds. Neither phone in the room worked and I had to use my cell phone to contact the front desk for anything from water to pillows, then was made to feel guilty for reporting this. I did request to change rooms due to the above, but was told there were none to switch to. There is no vending or spot to get a snack or soda without going out from the end of breakfast until 4pm when the bar opens for dinner, although the desk staff are very willing to provide you with a bottle of water which was nice. The majority of the staff were very nice. The valet gentlemen were amazing. I can not say enough about their kindness and respect. They had recommendations about anything from dinner to transportation. Overall, the location was great and if there weren’t the above issues with the vent and bugs it would have been ok. It just is not someplace I’d return due to the lack of care given to the room. On a side note- I am a gold member and booked through the Omni site. The couple we traveled with booked through booking.com and not only was there room nicer, but their cost was $100 less for a room that was the exact same- with no bugs or loose vent. Thank you.…
Third time I’ve stayed at the Omni for a conference, this time w my husband. It is a lovely hotel, well-located and the rooms are very spacious. Melissa the concierge is terrific - she hooked us up with amazing restaurants, which were varied and delicious! Highly recommend this hotel and Melissa the concierge.
The service was great, always helpful with anything needed. The doorman was very helpful, and the location was perfect nice central location. The restaurant on-site was really good and the drinks were amazing. Only draw was no stocked refrigerators in the room so bring drinks.
Valet parking is $79 per night but we parked in the parking lot of the hotel opposite to Omni for $59 per night. Only one lady at the check in was helpful out of the three. The other two didn’t seem to be busy at all as they were just standing around but still didn’t really help in any shape or form. The good thing was, we got unlimited amounts of bottled water which was very handy in the hot weather. The suite we were first given had a wall panel on the floor with a gap in the wall and the room was freezing cold. There was also a smell of something burning. We immediately reported it to the front desk. They said they would send someone to check. We were moved to another suite next to it immediately. Our suite was spacious and neat. The hotel was very quiet which was brilliant. The decor is dated but otherwise it’s functional. I wouldn’t call it fancy. We didn’t see many people around. The location of the hotel is superb. There are so many places to eat. It’s sitting snug amidst restaurants and places to shop. There is an in house restaurant on the 4th floor where we had hot breakfast the next day although everything cans in takeaway containers. It was very empty but the food they prepared was delicious, albeit a bit pricey but that’s kind of expected in Chicago.…
