Detailed Reviews
I don't often write reviews for hotels but this hotel is worth it. I spent a lot of time reading reviews of downtown Chicago hotels and was looking for something close to the river, train station and walkable to local attractions. I snagged a last minute deal for two rooms (regular king and river view suite) and boy, did I luck out.
This hotel is special folks. From the moment we pulled up we were treated so kindly. As mentioned in many reviews, Antonio the doorman was so gracious and warm as well as the front desk staff who checked us in quickly. The lobby is like an upscale living room in all the best ways. There is an espresso machine, filtered water on tap and two kinds of popcorn available almost all day. You wouldn't think this was a big thing but it was so nice to have first thing in the morning or when we came back from a long day.
I highly recommend the river view suite. The views of the city and river are remarkable and the sheer size of having two rooms allowed us to entertain our whole family. There were four separate window seats for everyone to relax and watch the boats and people walking by below. It was everyone's favorite spot to relax.
Also, every little detail was thought out in this space including a Nespresso machine with pods, teas, grippy socks, umbrella, tote bag, air purifier, basket with yoga mat and weights...the list is too long and it was all appreciated. Even the nightstands are so well designed with plugs and USB ports and there was a TV in each room.
We even included the breakfast in our reservation and I was so glad I did. There wasn't much info about the breakfast so I wasn't sure. Perilla, a Korean fusion restaurant is attached to this hotel and they offered a small but delicious menu of Korean and American offerings. My family members LOVED the Korean breakfast and the American breakfast was delicious as well with the pancakes being a highlight.
In all, the boutique hotel right on the river was a hidden gem. We will definitely be coming back here.

The river view room was spectacular for our 15 th wedding anniversary! The staff was great even a hand written message from Courtney wishing us a happy anniversary and chilled champagne and chocolates awaited us in our room! The doorman Antonio was beyond helpful and welcoming! He was very knowledgeable and informative of how to navigate the city and places to go! Thank you for your hospitality and generosity!

This was my family’s first time in the US and Chicago and I wanted my teenage kids to fully experience the skyscrapers and bustling downtown! They couldn’t believe the view from our 10th floor room. It was absolutely stunning and everyone loved sitting at the window seats and gazing out of the window at the world (and river!) going by. Beds were super comfy. Staff really friendly and helpful and gave great advice re attractions etc.
We loved the location, especially just crossing the road to Riverwalk cafes. Being able to walk to places like the Willis Tower, Millennium Park and Art institute meant that we made the most of our 40 hours in Chicago.
It was during Lollapalooza (we hadn’t realised when we booked flights in January) which I think pushed the rates up extremely high and when you pay more your expectations do rise accordingly. Small niggles were that body wash was empty in the bathroom, there was no expected facemask we had read about and there weren’t enough bath towels for all 4 of us - but calls to reception very swiftly resolved this! Another thing was no complementary biscuits and only 2 tea bags in the room (you would get more than this in a budget hotel in the UK) didn’t feel very generous at this rate - but again I realise the rate was unusually high. More hooks in the (very beautiful!) bathroom would have really helped with a place to hang up towels. But these are small things and we had a brilliant time, sleeping well and having an incredible experience in Chicago. Thank you!

I make the reservation (3 rooms) a few months ago and I not only requested the river view but specific room of one of the reservation because my son and his fiancé were there before. Everything was as I requested. The front desk staff is amazing, very friendly and professional. The cleaning team always makes the room without interference. The location of the hotel is excellent, you could walk in a safe area. We didn't use the restaurant but it has a nice atmosphere. I recommend this hotel .

I stayed in dozens of hotels, but this one is the best because of the very high quality compared to perfect price. It really feels like home. Would definitely stay there whenever I can. The room is clean. The temperature and dryness is very comfortable. The bathroom was surprisingly huge and very cozy. The water flow made very clever, so it won’t get wet everywhere after you take a shower and the room won’t get covered with steam. That was very surprising. First time seeing such thing. The view from the window is breath taking. We didn’t ask for the good view, but in the end we were more than happy. The furniture is very clean, and the beds were super comfortable. Also the staff is ultra greeting and friendly. Real professionals. It was truly the best stay I ever had.

We had an excellent stay at The L7! The staff was warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived, always greeting us with a smile. A special shoutout to Ebony, who checked us in and consistently went above and beyond to be friendly and helpful.
The location couldn’t have been better—just a five-minute walk to the Red Line and a seven-minute walk to the Blue Line, making it incredibly convenient for getting to O’Hare and exploring the city.
Our four-night stay was extremely comfortable. The room was spacious, modern, and spotlessly clean. We also appreciated the thoughtful touches, like the 24-hour availability of coffee, tea, and filtered water in the lobby. The bathroom’s cold water being filtered and safe for drinking was another pleasant surprise.
Overall, The L7 exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

We very much enjoyed our stay at L7. We have previously stayed at this location when it was The Hotel Monaco. The entire hotel has been recently renovated and we enjoyed the modern fresh feel in the rooms.
Prior to arrival we were emailed a preference form where we noted we would be celebrating our anniversary. Shortly after our arrival, Antonio the friendly doorman came to our door with a bottle of wine, delicious chocolates and a hand written note! Super nice touch!
Antonio was always around for friendly conversation in the lobby and to greet us warmly every time we entered the hotel. He remembered our names and that it was our anniversary. I always enjoy a hotel with an old school style doorman. Nicely dressed, knowledgeable on the culture of the city and just a friendly recognizable face makes you feel a little more at ease when far away from home.
We felt this hotel offered a lot of value for the price. Convenient location walkable to all the major sites, beautiful views and superb service. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in town.

The hotel is in a great location, close to the Chicago River, great restaurant options in walking distance as well as close to train stations. The hotel was very clean! ALL of the employees we encountered during our stay were very friendly and helpful!!! The lobby had a free coffee station with different types of coffee, which was very convenient. The room was spacious and beds were comfortable. I would highly recommend to anyone staying in Chicago.

+1
Excellent customer service by the doorman, Antonio Santino, who always greeted us and was very helpful, to the front desk clerks who went above and beyond. When we wanted to heat up some pizza we had left over from the previous night, they delivered a microwave to our room with plates and plastic ware. The location was in walking distance to many attractions and the view from our room was beautiful. We were across from the riverfront. The lobby was intimate and inviting. It was like a boutique hotel.

It can be hard to find a roomy, easy and comfortable spot in Chicago and this was such a pleasant surprise. Everyone was so nice and they have great touches all around that make you feel at home, comfortable and relaxed. The accommodations were very spacious for downtown Chicago and very, clean and well appointed. I couldn't say enough nice things about my first stay there. I had a room that overlooked the river which just added to this hotel's charm.
