Location is close to Millennium park. Fitness room large. Pet friendly but the cleanest hotel I have stayed in this year. Free coffee and hot tea station in morning helpful. Real glasses in the room to use.
There are many options when staying in Chicago but I would definitely stay at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco again. First, the location is great if you're looking to stay in the heart of the city. It's located off the river and it's near plenty of restaurants and shopping. It does tend to get pretty busy outside with tourist but that wasn't an issue for the 4 days I was there. The staff was extremely friendly from the doormen to the front desk. Special thank you to Caroline for being so friendly and helpful. The lobby is a decent size and furnished nicely. I had a King River View room. The room was nice overall and clean. The bed was comfortable and I liked the shower. Unfortunately the view was lackluster, I could barely see the river from my window. To be fair when I checked in the front desk did tell me I could possibly switch rooms if I was unhappy after my first night but I didn't even mention I was disappointed with the view. Also, floors did have a lot of dips in weird spots and the carpet could have used a good cleaning but it wasn't horrible by any means. Due to Covid the hotel is only doing housekeeping by request which I didn't mind at all. The valet is around $65 a day but does include in and out privileges. I think it's good if you're going to be going in and out all day. I only rented a car for 2 days and used a parking garage around the corner which was about $15 for 12 hours but it didn't have in and out privileges. …
The hotel lobby and our room were very clean and we loved how they had been updated. The room was larger than we anticipated and very comfortable. From the time we were greeted at our car to the time we left the staff made sure we had everything we needed. The location is walking distance to so many tourist activities, restaurants, etc. We would easily stay here again.
We had a lovely stay. Until checkout when they put is in a can for OHare. We now realize was not a legal cab. Charged us twice what fee should have been. hotel is not helping us identify the driver so we can take action. They refuse to help us
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco in Chicago. EVERYONE at the front desk and EVERY person who opens the door or brings the luggage is very helpful and accommodating! Everything is done with a smile. It feels like a five-star hotel!! Also special thank you to a lady who cleaned our room. She did an excellent job. The location is amazing. We appreciate everyone's effort to make our stay so enjoyable.
Really nice boutique hotel in a great location. We had great views from our windows. Definitely try to get a high room to see the views. The staff was very nice, and the bed was really comfy. I would definitely stay again, if we ever get back to Chicago. We had an excellent time.
We stayed here years ago, and while we loved it then, it was even better now! Adam Gurgiolo is a great manager who runs a fantastic hotel, in the best location in Chicago! He clearly values service, and making someone’s day, which is then exhibited by the entire team. Such great leadership! There were too many terrific employees to mention but here are just a few: Hector and Antonio are wonderful doormen. They’re both so personable and service oriented. They’re always present in the moment, and make you feel important, without ever rushing the chat. I could’ve talked to Mark at the front desk all day. He’s a terrific person who we discussed so much with - plays, transportation, tours, and always with a smile and such sincerity. Ashley’s smile is infectious and she was super friendly and helpful. John is a great new addition to the front desk team as he fits right in with his nice personality, and Selwyn was super service-oriented and fast when we needed something. The rooms were excellent, and upgrades are totally worth it if you can afford it or have an option to upgrade. Last time we stayed here, they were still called Meditteranean Suites, and I have to say the renovations since then are so awesome. Furniture is SO comfortable, practical and trendy. Bathrooms in the king river suite and premium double queen river views were beautiful, spacious and very practical. While we’ve loved the window seats before, this time (after renovations) they’re even nicer, with such updated, great decor in every part of the room. Between the high ceilings and huge window seats, the rooms seem bigger than the advertised square footage. Like others said, you really can sit in those windows for hours and people watch, because the hotel location is so fantastic. Plus, nowadays, it’s all about the photo opp, and our daughters enjoyed posting pics from these window seats and rest of the hotel. Housekeeping was efficient, timely and thorough. Finally, the restaurant, Fitch & Co, was solid. We all had breakfast there, and we all enjoyed our meals. We didn’t visit the lobby wine hour, but it looked nice, with lots of wine…. The sitting area by the fireplace was really nice and very comfortable. You never know what kind of weather you’ll get on vaca. It rained during 75% of our trip, so having a beautiful hotel with super friendly people to call “home” during a vaca is a great way to enjoy a trip, even when the weather just doesn’t cooperate. Plus, the location is really safe and close to everything (theater, restaurants, river walk, parks and attractions) which is convenient, regardless of good or bad weather. We love Kimpton in general, and this one is our favorite for sure! This hotel was a huge reason we loved our trip! From Bill and family from NJ, we’d like to give a big thank you and shout out to Adam, Selwyn, Mark, Ashley, Hector, Antonio and John for helping make this a terrific trip! 😊…
Had a great time in Chicago staying at Hotel Monaco. Staff was very helpful, friendly, professional. Room was spacious with a great view of the city. Antonio Santizo is a fantastic doorman - friendly with great service.
From the moment we arrived, for a four-day stay, the staff was fantastic. Shout out to Mark K for making us feel so welcome throughout our stay. Each time my husband and I entered the hotel, we were warmly greeted and continually offered assistance , if/when needed, by the Monaco Hotel team. Hotel centrally located, room/hotel clean, and very comfortable. Not a complaint to be had - really enjoyed our stay. Would highly recommended to everyone.
Had a fantastic stay at this hotel. Quick check-in, clean room, very attentive staff, free coffee, plus a surprisingly good restaurant. (Had both lunch and dinner in the restaurant. **Would stay here again.
