I celebrated my birthday in the 360 degrees igloo and it was an experience to remember. I have no words to describe the beauty of the surroundings and the staff would go the extra mile to make your staying a great one.
The restaurant at Lyngen North has deservedly earned its Five-Star ratin g from me. It was truly a wonderful, almost magical, dining experience that I will never forget. I daresay some of the best, authentic Norwegian food I have had north of 66 degrees. We dined on a weekend with a reservation for an early seating and the place was already full, so be warned. The restaurant and the glass igloo type lodge operates year round, during the summer for travelers and fishing tourists, and in the winter for northern lights enthusiasts. It is one of those uncommon sit-down, table service restaurants in Norway and the building and the decor are clean, modern, and welcoming (cozy). The highlight of course is the amazing views of the Lyngenfjord and towering Lyngen Alps outside. Especially on a windy, rainy day, to see the majesty and power of nature outside, while enjoying the best food products of Norway enhances the experience. Fresh fish, reindeer, duck, excellently prepared with accompanying sauces and side dishes are all delightful. The chef, Allessandro, chooses local seasonal specialties and makes absolutely everything from scratch (sauces, desserts, etc). The results are just fantastic! (and frankly, not what I expected in remote Rotsund). Be sure to try the desserts BTW, chocolate fondant, tiramisu, caramel pudding, all great. They seem to have a full bar and a nice selection of beer and wines. If you are passing through on the way north or south, or are staying in the area, I highly recommend treating yourself to an unforgettable, gourmet dining experience at Lyngen North.…
Fantastic service with very good food and friendly staff. This is a place to stop, eating good food while enjoying the view of the mighty Lyngen Alps. It is possible to rent a cabin or a glass cabin and stay over night.
This is an amazing place and absolutely worth the trip. We only had one night to stay in the 360 igloo. We didn't get to see the northern lights (too cloudy), but this was our favorite night of the trip anyway. It is a gorgeous setting! And the food at the restaurant was fantastic! The hosts were kind, even letting us have an extra person in the room (they brought in a single bed which fit fine) and took us to and from the bus. I thought the 3 hour bus ride would be tough, but boy was I wrong - what a gorgeous way to see Norway. The bus loads right onto two different ferries. You see amazing fjords and just the general beauty of the land. This was on my daughter's bucket list, and was SO worth the visit. Thank you Lyngen North!
This is the most amazing place. It is a stunning location looking out over the Fjord. The restaurant that is now here is lovely and the food is delicious. The owner, Ola, was so friendly and helpful. He arranged a wonderful snow shoe walk for us and helped my now fiancé plan his proposal. Safe to say I’ll never forget Lyngen North and plan on returning for another visit.
