The 3-star review is because we had an excellent experience on our Wednesday-night stay and an inferior experience four nights later during our second night's stay. Rather than detail the highs & lows, here are the commonalities: * Housekeeping: Rooms & public areas were clean and well-maintained. * Security: Motel's front desk is open inside the public area. Front desk also has a thick glass "business" window between the front entrance's 2 main doors - perhaps to allow check-ins while limiting access. (Cahokia is no stranger to violent crime.) Back door is a couple of yards from a public sidewalk. The door requires a room key to enter from outside - unless the door is ajar. (The door doesn't always close without help.) * Motel amenities: Due to the pandemic, the pool is empty and closed, the Fitness center is closed and coffee is the only hot food in dining area. * Nearby amenities: There is a Schuck's supermarket around the corner, staffed by a low-key security guard and helpful employees. I had no problems whatsoever in my 2 visits there. There is also a nearby Wal-Mart with particularly helpful and friendly employees.

We picked this hotel as a convenient overnight stopping point between home and the first true destination on our road trip. Reviews led us to believe that the accommodations would be just okay, but the location and price convinced us that it would be fine for a night. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the motel way exceeded our expectations. We always felt secure. The one-queen-bed room had plenty of space, with a nice little alcove between the bed and the bath holding a comfortable chair and reading lamp. The room was clean. There was no noticeable wear-and-tear either in the room or in common areas. The desk clerks were friendly and competent. We thought the breakfast was great, with the fried eggs (with which you could make an egg-sausage-biscuit sandwich) being a welcome change from the standard scrambled eggs usually found in a motel’s hot breakfast buffet. And the breakfast attendant was the nicest and most efficient breakfast attendant we have ever encountered in a motel. In fact, of the four similar-type and similarly priced motels we stayed in on this trip, this was far-and- away our favorite.

We enjoyed our stay here. It was a quite dated hotel with alot of wearing on carpet, walls, etc. However, t he rooms were very clean and the beds very comfortable. The pool is small and in a small room. The breakfast was average...typical hotel breakfast but not real fresh. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is only a 5 minute drive into St. Louis and so easy to hop right onto 64 into the city. That was wonderful!

We have stayed at this hotel many times, and I can only say that this was our last. Originally we kept coming back because of the people and the housekeeping staff. Management has changed over too many times in just five years, and is shows in the staff's enthusiasm. While still quite pleasant people to talk to, housekeeping wasn't up to it's normal standards. Over four days I only saw a vacuum once, and I never heard one. It's a bit disconcerting when you step in the shower and the water runs black from the bottoms of your feet. Breakfast was average to below average. I can and will eat anything but my daughter has a few restrictions. She can't eat dairy and she can't eat greasy. This leaves waffles as her only safe option, but waffles don't cook well with watery batter. Kind of a hollow crispy shell is all you get. Good thing there were muffins. A word of warning - don't leave any valuables in your car. We woke up one morning to police in the lot and a patron with a broken window.

Spent one night here and it’s cost £85, this was one of the cheapest hotels around. 7 miles from downtown so in a good location. Breakfast was good with choices but the area to sit down and eat was rather small. Hotel room was dated and had very thin walls i could here my neighbours arguing late at night. Reception was friendly, pool was too small.
