My daughter chose this place as the first overnight stop in Iceland. It’s situated close to a highway and located near a gas station. The place is so clean and nice. We were given a room in their Guest House with a shared living room, refrigerator and with some kitchen utensils to share. There’s a selection of teas that was also there for the guests use. There are 2 shared toilet and shower and one toilet for the guest house. Towels are provided and shampoo/conditioner and liquid body wash.
There’s a restaurant on site that served dinner but the breakfast is free. The selection is excellent, from waffles to cereal, drinkable yogurt, toast, a variety of bread spreads , jams, cold cuts to make your sandwich, eggs, bacon and sausage, fresh fruit and orange and apple juice.
Too bad it’s winter otherwise they also have a horse farm to see.
Highly recommended

A unique hotel decorated with horse motif throughout the hotel and rooms. Each room is named after a different horse and outside the room it tells the story of the horse for which your room was named. There are horseshoes to hold the curtains open, horsehead decals on the windows, horse artwork, horse photos and more. The location couldn't be better with major tourist sites located just a short drive away and KEF airport just an hour away. The hotel is actually quite large, even though it doesn't appear that way from outside. Lots and lots of rooms inside. Parking was free right outside the room. The check-in process was okay, just don't arrive early. Check-out process was a breeze. The breakfast was really good and had a lot of options (waffles!). The room was clean and comfortable with lots of storage and room to relax. The bathroom was nice with a fair shower. Would stay here again on next visit to Iceland.

It was an extraordinary horse riding experience. My guide was fantastic in all aspects! The driving staff was also friendly and informative making great conversation on the rides. Thanks and hope to ride with you all on my next visit to Iceland :)

We stayed at this Hotels guesthouse next door but we used the Hotel,s bar and we had breakfast in the Hotel dining room.We stayed in the Guesthouse one night on Thursday 5th October 2023.
Reception staff are friendly, they advised us to drive round the back to the stable block as this Hotel and Guesthouse is primarily a Horse riding centre,The Guesthouse is ok if a bit of a comedown from the Hotel itself although all the buildings are of a prefabricated nature and not bricks or stone.
The Guesthouse rooms are small with a sink and there's shared bathrooms and a lounge. The beds were a bit hard and the pillows(one as usual)but a spare in wardrobe were all but useless what I would describe as fresh air pillows as no support.Rooms and Guesthouse were clean as was Hotel.Bar in Hotel is Expensive two small beers £14! Comfy seating and free hot drinks and biscuits in Hotel lounge is good.Shower in Guesthouse was good.Breakfast in Hotel was quite good, best bits were decent fruit juices, waffle making press and bacon and scrambled eggs.If I stayed here again id stay in the Hotel. The only downside to staying at either the Hotel or Guesthouse are the Totally ridiculous so called Hot Tubs!! Lol!! They're two luke warm tubs outside in cold field with no bubbles!! Useless!!

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are sorry to hear that you did not like the linen provided. We have spare pillows with different support that we can provide from the reception. Regarding the hots tubs, traditional hot tubs (or nordic baths) do not have bubbles as it is different from jacuzzis. However, we try to maintain their temperature to 39°C and we apologize if it was not the case during your visit. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our breakfast and staff members and we will take your feedback into consideration to improve our services. Kind Regards.

Had a wonderful time riding Icelandic horses in Iceland with Eldhestar! The scenery was beautiful, the horses exceptionally well behaved and fun to ride, an experience to treasure for a lifetime! Breakfast buffet had many delicious choices and dinner in the restaurant was always delicious, top quality. The front desk staff was extremely pleasant and helpful anytime they were asked. The whole experience greatly exceeded our expectations!

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room and bathroom were large and clean. We enjoyed the hot tubs behind the hotel. We did go to the front desk and ask for extra towels for the hot tub visit. It was a nice layover between Keflavik and Vik. Easy access from the Ring Road. Gas stations and grocery store nearby made it easy to gas up and get lunch/snacks for the road.

Rudimentary decoration. Far from any possibility of outside activity (restaurants, shops, etc.) Mediocre restaurant. Friendly and available staff

An overnight stay at Hótel Eldhestar in a room for 4 people. We stayed in the annex opposite the hotel. The annex is right next to the horse stable, so it was super cozy. We have booked with own shower and toilet, but in the annex there are only rooms with shared shower and toilet and kitchen facilities. However, we were the only guests, so that was fine. The room was simple with 4 beds and a sink and good with closet space. Neat and clean both in the room and in common areas. Coffee and tea available. Hótel Eldhestar is close to the Golden Circle and is a good starting point if you want to go on a trip. Parking both at the hotel and the annex. Nice breakfast.

We loved our stay at this hotel - our favorite hotel in 11 days of travel around Iceland. The staff is friendly, patient and very helpful. The lobby-reception area is relaxing with complimentary tea, coffee, cocoa and cookies. The hotel is exceedingly clean and the decor is soothing. Our room was amply spacious with a great bath room. Again, compared to 8 other hotel stays, the Eldhestar had the nicest breakfast buffet (included in the room rate). The hot tub is another plus. We also recommend dining at the hotel for dinner. Excellent service, great food.

Very pleasant hotel, large rooms, very comfortable beds. The only thing missing was a hairdryer and a closet with compartments would have been good.
The staff are super friendly and take such good care of the guests. The food is extremely delicious and special requests from vegan to gluten-free are easily possible.
I felt extremely comfortable and will definitely come back.

Hello
My wife and I booked onto a Jules Verne trip that fitted in what we wanted
For a week we were couriered around by a local driver in a mini bus with eight others
We had a brilliant time being taken to place to place without any hassle ending each night at a hotel
Over the time in Iceland we covered 1700 km
Totally recommend trips with joules Verne
Or you can risk problems driving on ice for a week
Have a great time
