Bella, who all have a great love for nature and the ocean.

Your surroundings offer you accommodation situated in a rural and

remote area.....Faaaar away from the maddening crowds.

We went back for a second visit and it will not be the last. It must be one of the best places to visit in SA. Otto and Lu are great hosts!! Relaxing, good vibes. The view is unbeatable. Escape the rat race and come here for serious chilling.

I booked Freedom O' Clock for a weekend in the Transkei (my first time) with my partner based on a recommendation from a surfer buddy who best described the experience as "more real and a bit raw." That's exactly what I found - a true rural experience in the Wild Coast, off the grid with million dollar views of the Mdumbi River mouth and the classic right hand point break. The hosts, Otto, Lu and their daughter Coral Bella are wonderful humans who've put their loving, simply-stated artistic touch throughout the property. If you are up for something "more real and a bit raw" then I highly recommend Freedom O' Clock. We stayed in the Surf Room which had a stunning direct view of the River Mouth and waves. Perfect for a couple but Fish and Relax rooms offer extra beds for families. Bathroom and Kitchen are communal, clean and well maintained. Bring your own food or request for half board (fresh fish and prawns, local veggies, etc). I look forward to returning often as this is a true South African gem for the adventurous. Be advised, the road is awful but we did it in a VW Polo driving in from the Durban side. I found the road and area south of the river (between Mdumbi and Coffee Bay) to be less hospitable. Stay safe and only drive during the day. Thank you Otto, Lu and Coral Bella for the truly memorable experience.

I'm never going to forget my time at freedom o clock! Lu, Otto and little monkey Coral made us feel like a part of the family! Such a very great family! Inspiring people! Tristan (not sure if he's still there) joined us for every activity we've done... which would be surfing, searching for shells and crayfish :-) , canoeing up Mdumbi River, Horse riding trough the village, repairing our car cause we've got a flat tire somewhere on our way, whale watching from the terrace in the mornings and playing cards and drinking games in the evenings... I can't help myself but thinking that was my personal nicest place to be so far in the world... I always dreamed of seeing a real whale out in the ocean one day and there they just jumped out of the beautiful sea during the day... amazing!!! Thank you so much for sharing your home! I hope you all are well! Greetings Jessica

We have just spent 10 amazing days with Otto, Lu and Coral-Bella, our second visit. Enjoyed the scenery and just totally switched off. The accommodation is rustic, clean and acceptable. Really enjoyed Coral-Bella's company and wit as well as enjoying the Host's company. The Wild Coast is not for sissies and the weather can get rough at times. Still the best location in SA!

Freedom O'Clock is located off the beaten track somewhere on the coast of South Africa. After a bumpy ride we were welcomed by Lu and Otto, who had already arranged for us to take a walk through the village with a local. We definitely enjoyed the local food, the views and the hospitality. They prepared for us a potjie, delicacies from the ocean as well as a marvelous breakfast in the morning. All of that as well as the accommodation itself at a more than decent price. One nights' stay is definitely not enough to come down and soak up the serenity in this place. The rooms are simple and clean. This place makes you realize how little one needs. This was a back-to-nature stop for us on our long drive from Durban to Cape Town and definitely worth the detour. Thank you so much Lu&Otto for an amazing experience!
