Where do we begin. After going to the Abacos more time than I could count over the past couple decades, we recently decided to try something different. I had heard a lot of good things about Chub Cay but I wasn't prepared for what a fantastic visit we had in store. The Resort and Marina is exceptional!....far nicer than anything I've been to in the Abacos. We made our first visit there in November and loved it so much, we returned with 8 other couples for our wedding this past weekend and boy did they deliver. The Marina is the nicest in The Bahamas, with exceptional floating concrete docks, bumpers, water/electricity and their own air conditioned Fish Cleaning House (I've never seen anything like it anywhere). The hotel is about 20 rooms....about 11 traditional rooms and 8 "beach cabanas" which we stayed at both visits.....its probably the nicest hotel room I've ever stayed in when you factor in just the room, the view, and the price. It was a great value. There is just one main restaurant and bar in the resort (plus a pool)....but it doesn't matter, they offer a broad selection of choices and very fair prices and exceptional quality. This is one of the biggest pleasant surprises of the stay....the food quality and value, particularly considering the remoteness of the Island. There is so much to offer....chillax on the world class beach, spa, snorkeling, fishing, snorkeling/diving paddle boarding....its an eco-tourist's nirvana. Chub Cay Divers (Tito and Andy) were AWESOME for our inter island excursion. We also hired local fishing guides Razor and David for speafishing and bonefishing. The Nauti Rooster is the edgy local bar and grill where staff and visitors alike go to party and let their hair down....This place has GREAT food and is literally dirt cheap. The fishing and diving in and around Chub is world class, from the flats, to the reefs, to the blue water trolling of the Pocket....the tongue of the ocean. The resort always happily prepared our catch every night for dinner! What a hit!!! Conch, lobster, grouper, yellowtail, mutton snapper, mahi and wahoo....we had it all! They charge $20 pp which includes sides (peas n rice, brocolini and carrots, and French fries)and will cook as much as you like of your fish. I boated in both times, but the flights from Lauderale on Maker's Air was a breeze for our guests and so convenient. Do yourself a favor and book and trip to Chub!

Spent from June 30 to July 5 at the Resort Villas and stayed at two different Villas (#25 and #7). Arrived at 1 pm and wasn't allowed to check-in by the front office clerk, which I noticed never gets out of her chair when greeting or talking to guests. Apparently, the chair is glued to her butt. Check-in is at 3 pm which is strictly enforced!!! Spent the waiting time at the pool which had limited seating of 40 only Loung Chairs and 4 Umbrellas and one of them was broken. The drinks were cold but expensive. Finally, we were allowed to check-in, but not into our original Villa, which was supposedly being used by another couple. So we were sent to Villa #25, for one night. The Villa was close to the marina but received no help with our luggage nor any luggage carts were to be found to help offload our boat. We quickly found this Villa was very outdated with very worn and beat-up furniture. Very small living room. Sinks kept backing up or clogging. The majority of the electrical outlets did not work. Spent one night there and the next day we found out that our original Villa (#7) was never used. The couple never showed up, but no one told us. So we packed up our belonging and moved again with no help at all over to Villa #7, which was quite a distance. This Villa had a very nice setup. Ample room and nice furniture and comfortable beds. However, the 2nd bedroom's AC wasn't working and they couldn't repair it. So instead they gave us an electric fan with alot of sorries added on. We were also missing a coffee maker and several pots and pans. The dishwasher also did not work. When you are paying over $2,000 a night you expect a little more from the staff, but I forget this is the Bahamas so everything is slow and easy-going. The hotel restaurant was okay but also very expensive. One meal for four adults and two children was over $400 dollars not including tip. Some of the workers i.e Boat Fueler and Ice dock worker were just plain lazy. Not once did they come out and offer to help us fuel or bring us ice for the boat. We had to get our own ice and fuel the boat ourselves. But they were quick to come out and charge for both and immediately went back into their AC container-type office. On July 4th, the only resort pool and beach were packed. Not enough chairs or umbrellas to go around, so people were sitting and laying everywhere. Service for drinks and food was extremely slow. However, the fireworks show, later on, that night was great and you could see it from anywhere on the island. The ocean around the island is clear with great fishing and ample opportunity to go snorkeling or diving. Just stay away from the gift shop it will cost you an arm and a leg to buy anything, so make sure you bring everything with you that you think you will need. This was the only place that made you wear a mask, and if you didn't have one they would sell you one for $2.

We had an amazing time with Chub Cay Divers! They went over and above in kindness, patience, and amenities. Our group consisted of divers with very different experiences. Andy should have kicked us all off the island; instead he suggested we do some buoyancy review on our second dive. Very few guides would have been so patient with us. Myra was so helpful and accommodating with our snorkelers, especially when one vomited in the water—Myra calmed her and offered to contact the boat, but our resilient snorkeler pushed on and finished the trip. Our best day ever was swimming in the blue hole, paddle boarding Little Harbor Cay, and eating at Flo’s Conch Shack! Andy and Myra enhanced our whole experience on Chub Cay!

A number of my boating friends have been telling me how nice the Chub Cay resort has become recently, so we felt that we had to find out for ourselves. The last time that we had been there was by boat in 2012 (during the economic downturn) when there was no fuel or power, so we were a bit skeptical. Well, my party of 8 just spent the most amazing four days there and we could not have been more pleased. We rented a 5-bedroom house out on the point where the views of the entry channel were wonderful with the coming and going of the large boats (yachts). The clubhouse / restaurant is beautiful, and all of our meals were wonderful (lunch and dinner). The service is "Bahamian" service, so if you just slow down and relax a little you will do just fine. We flew into the airport, so we did not have a boat, but hired Ramon "Razor" who took us island hopping, and to the sandbars and turtle creek for snorkeling. All and all we had a great time and look forward to going back soon. I think I have found my happy place. We rented a house because of the size of our group and our desire to have a kitchen and common areas like a dining room, large porches, and a bit of isolation. If you come as a couple, you may be interested in the one-bedroom cottages which are conveniently located adjacent to the pool and clubhouse / restaurant. If you rent a house far from the clubhouse, The restaurant is a restaurant and not a privet club so all charges can go back to our rental OR to a credit card. This is convenient so our guests could charge their food and drink independently without being on one master bill that would have to be split up.

Stayed at chub while boating in Bahamas. 2 times. Very nice and beautiful. The water at the marina is expensive so be careful. 175.00 to wash our 45’ boat down. Little slow checking in lady at front desk Would multitask for everyone and not stay on one person. Got there early 2:00 and would not let us in villa even though house keeping said it was cleaned the day before. First villa number 10 was ok no dish towels, wash cloths, hot pads nothing in kitchen. King bed upstairs, Stayed at no. 7 last time and and it was nicer. Still no dish towels but I called and they brought hand towel at least that was something to use this one had 2 king beds. Had coffee pods but no coffee maker. Food and drinks are really good and fairly priced, food at pool bar is super slow and staff not great, asked for water and they walked away, no money in that I guess, but inside is fine, with wonderful service. Golf cart for 125. A day seems stupid high. The diving was fabulous great dive master! Nice little boutique but not much for food. Customs is a pain why they can’t be at resort or why chub can’t help you do the paper work is crazy if you do it all the time it’s fine but first time is difficult to get it the way they want. And having to get a ride to airport then wait and get ride back is a time waster took me over 2 hours. The pool, beauty of the resort, the ground are very well cared for and sunsets are well worth the visit. The docks are clean and well maintained.

Stayed here for two nights in April 2022 to check out the island and go diving. Pickup from the airport, friendly staff, quick check-in and even provided a super quick turn-around laundry service. Restaurant has good food and drinks. Building is in good shapes and rooms are nicely decorated. Overall a great experience.

Chub cay is a beautiful place. I'm in love with the ambiance of the place. Its unfortunate that my wife got sick. But the part, they made it a lil better was the fact. That they have an amazing nurse on the cay who is aware of what she's doing. I am beyond grateful for that nurse coakly. She was so caring an amazing, she was able to say what exactly was going om with my wife base on the signs she shown. When we came back home an follow up with our doctor. He told us the exact samething the nurse told us. I am beyond grateful for nurse coakly. She was awesome to us. Everyone was awesome to us. Chub cay has one of the best staff in the Bahamas. A awful experience, turned alot better.

This island is magical. The weather is beautiful, the the landscape is lush, and the beaches are a sight to see. But what really makes this place so great is the people who work here. Portia, Shacoya, Charles, Brian, Bruce, Crystal, Rye, Ken, Dave, Tim, Sasha, Venetta, Lemon, Kia, the wonderful woman who did my massage and facial (her name is escaping me right now), and all the others I’ve met over the last two visits…all these people make this island what it is. They work tirelessly to accommodate your every request, and they do it with a smile. Anyone can open a resort on a beautiful island, but without the right people to work it….. So if you’re visiting Chub Cay, say hello to the people who work there and get to know them if you can. They will make you want to visit again and again as they’ve done for us.

They would have received a better rating, if their front reception staff had a clue. First after a long day, checked in around 3pm, to be woken up at 10pm asking if i am still going to be checking in?? But the worse was the lady at the front, offered an up grade for my second night, which was great and a better room. The morning after the free upgrade (keep in mind the resort was empty (this was Tuesday after Labor day weekend) I came down and she immediately wanted to know how i wanted to pay for the upgrade?? I said I asked if it was an additional charge and she said no! So she said OK I WILL CALL THE AUTORITIES TO SORT IT!! HUH? i SAID WAIT A MINUTE, SHE SAID THIS IS NOT A NEOGATION PAY OR I CALL THE POLICE (WHO IS EMPLOYED BY THEM). i WILL DISPUTE THE UPCHARGE AND BEWARE THEY ARE DESPERITE OBVIOUSLY. VERY SAD, THE REST OF THE STAFF SEEMED NICE, OF COURSE VISTORS ARE WHAT PAYS THEM.
