Booked our room for annual ski trip. Ended up with a really nice, newly renovated suite. Great place with lots of history. If you go to Sun Valley I would highly recommend it. They had a ski shuttle stop steps away to take you to the mountain. Nice pool and spa area. Only ate

Beautiful, well maintained classic. Beautifully decorated public spaces and gardens. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Nice pool, beautiful spa, bowling alley, tons of activities and events. We stayed in a suite with a fireplace and a terrace overlooking the ice rink.

Note that the lodge has been recently renovate and it is now very luxurious. Basically they converted pairs of the older -rather cozy- rooms into spacious suites. It is expensive, but my wife enjoyed just getting lost in the bathroom for three hours. Other than that, it keeps

I have been going to Sun Valley for many years. For the most part, the staff are courteous. I have some issues with the philosophy of the owners/management. As for their facilities, most are very nice, but recent renovations make much of the property financially inaccessible to

My wife and I stayed here for five nights and found the new rooms quite clean and comfortable. The check in was easy and quick and the service very good. You can leave your skis with the front because they have a ski locker room but I suggest that you leave them at the resort

are pets allowed?
Sorry, don’t know but Sun Valley/Ketchum is a very dog friendly area. Walked every day and rarely saw one leashed.

are pets allowed?
I believe they do, but as stated above, you will need to let them know so they can put you in a pet friendly room.

Good Morning! First I should point out that the only area you can remotely "ski in and out" at Sun Valley is the Warm Springs side of the mountain. I personally don't like that side as it smells horribly of Sulphur and I'm not sure there is even a hotel there (mostly condos and homes. I have owned a place in Sun Valley (off Elkhorn road), so we have never taken the bus, but have observed many doing using this mode so here we go: Sun Valley Lodge is the original iconic resort in Ketchum/Sun Valley. Many people like to stay there for the history, ice rink, little village, spa, etc. You didn't mention the ages of your group, however, if there are kids involved, this would be the place to stay. They had a major renovation a few years back. On top of that, you would have lodge transportation to the mountain instead of standing at the bus stop. It is about 5 minutes to the base of River Run where you will start skiing. (If you have small kids that will ski on Dollar Mountain you will be even closer to Dollar if you stay at Sun Valley Lodge) I would say the next best option would be the new Limelight hotel/resort. It is located on Main Street/Hwy75 and would be even closer to the lifts (6 blocks?) I think this was there first season open and saw they had their own shuttles delivering guests up to the mountain. This area is the town of Ketchum (Sun Valley is the town where Sun Valley Lodge is located, however the ski area is also in Ketchum (just owned by the Sun Valley Company). I personally think the best restaurants in the area are in Ketchum proper and the town has nice shops. Bottom line, if it were me, I would book at Sun Valley Lodge or adjacent Sun Valley Inn. DO make sure you dine in town (The Pioneer Saloon, Knob Hill Grill, Globus are a few of our .) You can easily cab there from anywhere in the valley. Enjoy!!!

We were there in the summer for only one night, but we observed the mountain is very near but not ski in-ski out. The hotel shuttle can take you. The Lodge is wonderful if pricey. We did not check out other hotels, though I noticed a Best Western in Ketchum that looked nice. We can recommend Ketchum Grill for dinner and Christina's for breakfast/lunch. It is a very upscale community; I think most of the hotels and restaurants are probably very good.
