Good comfortable rooms, although most seem to have adjoining doors. Surprisingly quiet - guests seem to observe 10pm to 9qm quiet time. A bit stuffy on hot days despite overhead fan. Great location: quiet street and back area and views on the Sawtooths. Nice second floor porch, rather utilitarian chairs though.
Limited COVID measures: cleaning staff and others did not wear masks.
No one seems to ever answer the phone...

We spent 2 nights at the High Country Inn. Our room was clean and comfortable, and more than large enough. Just across the street is the Stanley Baking Company which was also very nice. Only thing even a little odd was that we never saw an employee during our entire stay. Upon arrival our room keys were in an envelope on the office door, and when we left we just put the keys on the desk in our room and walked away. Never saw or spoke to anyone!

We were very impressed with our room...it was very cozy, cute and clean. Since you asked for feedback we suggest adding a desk lamp as that area of the room was very dark. Also, snow was predicted the night we stayed so it got very cold in the room and especially the bathroom. We saw floor vents but were told there was no central heat and to use a little space heater. We felt the heater was not safe to use in the small bathroom, especially when showering. Maybe a ceiling heater might be a safer solution. However, the heater did heat up the bedroom when used in that area. Because our suggested items did not detract from our stay and the price was right we would give Stanley High Country Inn a 5 rating and hope to stay there again in the future.

We just returned from a girl's weekend summiting Thompson Peak. Three girls stayed in the hotel and three others stayed in a "cabinette". Upon making the reservations, I called the hotel twice with questions and the staff was friendly and accommodating, so I decided to book the rooms here. I didn't give the hotel 5 stars because the cabinettes need to be remodeled (which is the plan). They were clean, but a little crumbling and falling apart. Once remodeled, I would give the hotel 5 stars based on: clean rooms, quick responses to texts from the front desk (although I never saw a person to interact with), ability to reserve the hot tub (although we never got to use it), we had issues with a neighbor who had a barking and whining dog, texted front desk and they texted the people and resolved the issue. We stayed during off season and the restaurant was closed, but it was super cute inside. We would definitely stay here again. Since this is a Redfish property, I hope they remodel and get it up to the same standards at Redfish (but then the price would increase so maybe not). I hope the prices are kept low, because it's way too expensive at Redfish. (And always booked!)

Stanley in the winter necessitates a cozy place to relax after your day's activities, and we loved it here. Quality construction and not too many rooms kept things quiet and comfortable. The hot tub is large and hot with nice outdoor setting. The library sitting area and downstairs fireside chairs are welcoming. The patio and balcony deck would be lovely in summer. Everything in town is easy walking distance. Wish we could have sampled the weekend menu options, but we stayed on a Thursday. I imagine there would be more offerings in the summer. The redfish Lake Lodge people have taken over management, and so far everything I've seen from them has been conscientious and quality driven. The winter staff/ caretakers were very upbeat and accommodating. My dad really enjoyed our room and im planning to return with my guy next year!

I recently spent four nights at the Stanley High Country Inn. My room was large, clean and featured a comfortable bed. It was a bit chilly in the room, as the heat is regulated from a single hallway thermostat outside the rooms. Small space heaters are provided to compensate. The public hot tub was a welcome luxury after each day of snowmobiling. Parking was a bit limited for our snowmobile trailers, but we worked it out. The dining room was only open on the weekend for dinner and brunch. Our group of nine had hoped to dine at the inn, however we were told they could not seat us until 8:30 pm after smaller parties were served, even with a reservation. Thankfully the Stanley Supper Club and Mountain Village Restaurant are great nearby options.

Really enjoyed my stay at the High Country Inn. Great setting. I was there "off season" so it was very quiet. The room was nicely appointed, comfortable bed and I really appreciated that the coffee make had real mugs, not paper cups, and was not a keurig (with the plastic shots).

The lodge presents itself as "rustic and elegant." Rustic, yes, elegant, not by a long shot. It is a typical, dated, ski lodge type accomodation, set in a small, rough and ready, little town, Country decor with a slightly lumpy mattress, old but clean bathroom, and no control over the room temperature--we had to open the window when it was only in the 30's at night. And I'm cold natured. I would not give them such a bad rating, but they shampooed all the carpets, in a fully booked lodge, at 3 pm. Who does that? Our carpet was still soaking wet at 10pm. And they left clean towels in a big pile, ready to fold, in a space right off the lounge and across from the coffee and microwave, where anyone could just dig and grab. Yuk.

Thank you for the detailed review. We normally would not shampoo the carpets the while guest are in the Inn. The carpets needed extra attention this year, and after hearing several guest complaints and reviews about dirty carpet, we decided that it would be a good idea to clean the carpet before our scheduled date in November. We appreciate your feedback, and have shared it with all of our team, and look forward to doing better!

We arrived on Saturday and was able to check in a little early. The check in was super relaxed and easy. The restaurant was open that night but none of the patrons caused any issues for us upstairs in the rooms. We were staying with multiple people and had multiple rooms booked. Sunday had very little activity and all the other people staying were nice, polite, and we had a great time. The hot tub was warm and relaxing on a snowy day. The option for $2 soda unlimited refill was great! The ice was also easy to access and great. The back porch allowed us to get some fresh air and enjoy the view. The only very small issue we ran into was that on Sunday morning the water for a shower was luke warm at best. I tend to enjoy hot showers but on Monday it was hot!

The Stanley High Country Inn is situated in the Sawtooth Valley and has stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The Inn has very spacious and comfortable rooms as well as several stand-alone cabins. It also has communal indoor and outdoor spaces that are available for guests to use. We stayed there for three nights in June, and understood from others that during the winter more services are provided than in the summer (notably a chef who prepares breakfasts). In the non-skiing season, guests typically get their morning start at the Stanley Baking Company & Café close by (note: the café is very popular, but the line moves quickly; it's not cheap).
Our rooms were in the main building and their were only two drawbacks: (a) thin walls that were not exactly sound proof and (b) incredibly weak, intermittent WIFI reception. The latter could be/should be easily fixed. All that said, however, the High Country Inn is a great place to stay and we recommend it highly.

Are the rooms air conditioned?
Answer from Austin C
Hello Karen! The rooms are not air conditioned. In the summer in Stanley the nights drop down to a great temperature. Usually opening a window, and using a fan to blow in cool outside air works great! We have fans that we are happy to provide! Thank you!
