The owners, Dennis and Sandy, were very lovely and went out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable. The property is absolutely beautiful in an outstanding setting along the Snake River. The breakfast prepared by Sandy was just perfect! Our rooms were nicely appointed and found the bedding and beds to be top notch. Also, A+++ for cleanliness! The entire home was so nicely decorated by Sandy and the grounds were equally great. Wish we were able to stay longer. We plan to come back!
If you are anywhere within 50-100 miles of Rigby, Idaho, give yourself the gift of a night at the amazing Blue Heron Inn Bed and Breakfast! Situated in a rural area just north of the small agricultural town of Rigby (and only about 20 minutes drive north of Idaho Falls) the Blue Heron Inn is directly on the shore of the Snake River with an unbelievable view of a gorgeous wetland and wildlife habitat. Choose any of the seven comfy rooms, take advantage of the well-equipped and beautiful living room, with high ceilings, stone fireplace, magnificent views and comfortable furnishings. There are also game rooms, library/reading rooms, patio seating or large dining room/kitchen well stocked with coffee, tea, cocoa, popcorn and maybe even freshly baked cupcakes! Breakfast was freshly made Dutch baby with choice of syrups, sausage, home fries, fresh juices and coffee- truly gourmet! The sunrise over the river, seen from our balcony was breathtaking. Water birds visiting the area included the iconic blue heron and we were told that often a moose has been seen grazing along the riverfront property. The hosts are warm and welcoming and have a deep love for this beautiful area. Please do yourself a huge favor and consider this lovely place! I know you'll be as amazed as we were! …
This is an amazing place. We have stayed at B and Bs around the world and this place deserves a spot in the top tier. If you like to hike there are some great trails within an hour after beautiful drives - legs palisades, grand targee and many more
My family only stayed one night, but the place was a perfect stop on our journey to Yellowstone and a family wedding. Drove up from Salt Lake City and arrived late, but they had my key on the front door and the rooms were spotless and very nice. Breakfast the next morning was excellent and everyone was so friendly and accommodating. Got to see a few deer, but no moose that morning. The owners made a suggestion to visit Mesa Falls on our way up since we had a little time and it was great stop and just a little out of our way. Would definitely stay here again!!!
We stayed August 1st one night. We were in King Suite with private balcony. The room is spacious and beautiful. We saw deer, a moose, golden eagle from balcony. The breakfast was good. I just wish you can order like plain eggs. We dont do onions, peppers. I would stay here again if in area.
We only chose this B&B because we had an early flight our of Idaho Falls the next morning and wanted something close to the airport but outside of IF...I'm so glad we did! The lodge is just beautiful. The great room overlooking the river had cathedral ceilings and matching windows. It's a beautiful room with a fireplace, sumptuous seating and beautifully furnished, as is every part of this lodge. Our large bedroom had a veranda overlooking the river and was also beautifully decorated and had a walk-in closet! The breakfast room is also a lovely, light, airy room with coffee, tea, popcorn etc. to help yourself during the day or evening. Breakfast is a treat there. Dennis made us a delicious and beautifully presented meal. There is another delightful area upstairs with a library space, a seating area and a games area. All very inviting and tastefully decorated. I would come here just for a weekend to sit and watch the river, relax and unwind...it's that lovely! We didn't meet Sandra as we got in late and left early but she was very nice on the phone. The lodge is very close to a photo worthy old iron railway bridge and we saw fisherman catching trout beneath the bridge. In the morning we saw a moose come down to the river to drink and we saw a bald eagle waiting on a log by the river to catch fish! The lodge is only 20 minutes from Idaho Falls on the freeway. I would highly recommend this B&B for a relaxing stay with a beautiful view, an elegant and thoughtfully decorated lodge and rooms and close proximity to Idaho Falls or the I15 north to Yellowstone and Montana.…
This B&B is outstanding. The hosts are wonderful. The coffee and breakfast are wonderful and the setting on the Snake River is beautiful. This is a short drive off the I-15 so easily manageable, e.g., for snowbirds passing through.
We were meeting our family in Island Park for Thanksgiving Weekend, but wanted to get a head start, so made reservations for the Blue Heron, in Rigby, Id for the Blue Heron Room. The room is private, with a deck facing the Snake River. The fireplace is warm and cozy. The large bathroom, with a beautiful jacuzzi tube was thoroughly wonderful. Because this was Thanksgiving Eve, it was our pleasure to be the only ones in the Inn. We have been here twice before and love it so much, we looked forward to coming again. We read books in the nook on the mezzanine in the evening and had a wonderful breakfast and talk with our hosts in the morning. Thank you for creating such a beautiful, tranquil place to weary travelers.
We stopped here on our way to Yellowstone, it’s conveniently located next to the highway, however there’s not much else around and the nearest restaurant is a couple of miles away. The Inn is near to the Snake River which provides good opportunities for anglers. The grounds also are nice to walk around. The room we stayed in was slightly small and didn’t have curtains only blinds which let light in. The main house has a movie room and lounge. Breakfast was very disappointing, for the price of our stay we expected more.
After driving across most of the country, we found this place and were very pleased by it charm, comfort and relaxing environment. Tired of hotels and camping, this provided lovely views of the Snake River, a hot tub and room for our beloved dog to stretch his legs and endlessly chase the stick. The hosts are awesome, the accommodations wonderful!
